That's a very cool idea. Maybe for instance a Metroid game could unlock Super Metroid for the DS as a playable bonus if you beat it with 100%, then you could just plug the card in directly.

Or just download it wirelessly...

Wait, so someone made a first person shooter and everyone is screaming killer app?  Wow...that came out of nowhere...

(Ohhhh, they added a twist by putting the person on the screen so they can call it a third person shooter....   INOVATION!)

I feel the same way, but I do think it could be interesting if the MMO was developed for both simultaneously...  The gameboy games represent one world/country and the Rev title represent another.  Being able to take your character on the road would be sweet, but only if it didn't take anything away from teh true rev experience.

Online trading/battling/pokecontests should be a requirement for the first set of DS pokemon titles.

If the DS pokemon games are online in some form or another (which they sure as hell should be) I DON'T want them to allow transferring pokemon from old games, unless they have an intricate cheater detection when those pokemon are used in an online match.  Maybe by some stroke of luck there is a flaw in any gameshark related pokemon that is detectable so if that pokemon was about to be used in a match, the DS could display some nast message about the player being a cheater or something.  Compare that with a bonus disc Jirachi or pokemon event Mew which would count as legitimate pokemon.

Sweet.

We all knew this is what it would be...  MS further whoring out the 'specs' of the machine...  I don't know why you are all so quick to judge...  MS is gonna remain what the are in the gaming industry until the MTV gamers get bored.

Heh...I love quotes like that... where did they get their info?  They have no source or anything, but hearing that continues to hurt the theory that it is a true Pokemon RPG in the sense of the GB games.

AHEM! >=(

Now I wish people would actually hold judgement until we actually get substantial info on the game, but that isn't likely going to happen is it!?

I am holding judgment...like I said... I'm just remaining very skeptical as to not be completely pissed off if it does turn on to be Col. 2.

too late

As much as I'd like a full fledged Pokemon RPG on a console, Nintendo might as well save it for when it internet enables consoles, otherwise there wouldn't really be trading.

Saying snagging is good to catch old pokemon is dumb in my opinion...  Is it that unheard of to make those old pokemon wild?

As for waiting for an online console, you are right... They should wait for an online console to enable trading and online fighting..possibly even MMO.

BUT, they should be releasing a 10/10 Single player game that uses great 3D mechanics so they can learn how to make the MMO style game better... =P

First info?

Confirmed that 'snagging' is back...

If thats the only way to catch pokemon I'm gonna be pissed.

Starting with Evee is a cool concept though.

Dark pokemon should definately play a role in every pokemon game from here on out...it should only be a small role though.

Anyway, I'm sure this thread can take off 5 days from now...

I will remain skeptical about whether or not this game is going to be our dream 3D rpg.

EDIT::  Make sure you click on the image in the link above to see more screens.

Hahah...and the thread ends with you thinking about buying a PSP instead.... =P

Get yourself some codeine and stop worrying about it....

My dream e3 would be mario kart confirmed online, smash bros announced and confirmed online, and Animal Crossing due out the end of May.. =P

Seriously though...  On the square front, I want to hear two things....

1. Final Fantasy 3 enhanced port EXCLUSIVE for DS
2. A PlayOnline enabled version of FF:CC that is either free for all, or heavily discounted/free for current PlayOnline subscribers.

Man....  that would be great.

This is just all together a terrible idea....  The ONLY thing that could make releasing a GBA SP SP worth while is if the wireless was compatible with the DS wireless and it could mean both online play for GBA and multiplayer between GBAs and DSs.  Thats not gonna happen though, concidering the current GBA wireless isn't compatible...

Sigh...

It would definately be good for the GBA but terrible for the DS.  Consumers will be confused on what the better hand held is...

We all know about Spong.com.  They enjoy posting crazy news stories that someone would be crazy to believe.  Even knowing that, I find myself constantly going to their site for humor reasons.  Today, what I think is a great idea hit me.  We should have a PGC game based around Spong.  The rules are simple.

1.  You have to pick a news story you believe to be false.
2.  The story picked can't already have been proven wrong.
3.  If the story ends up truly being wrong, you get a point.
4.  If the story ends up being truthful, you lose 5 points.
5.  Multiple people can claim the same story.

Edit: I changed the rules slightly.

(I have a feeling this game is going to be a high scoring one.)

I'll get the ball rolling.

Yeah..its an incredibly interesting survey...  Great to see they want to know what the fans think... my only beef is that research like this usually only occurs in the very early stages of development...  I think this lowers the chances of having some e3 bombs dropping (IE Smash Bros DS Online, etc).

I answered it very truthfully though.... and found myself saying i didn't want online for several titles (Zelda, Metroid, etc.)

Gamespy/IGN is providing nothing more than the backbone...if you think Nintendo is going to let them plaster ads all over your DS you have another thing coming.  The part of Gamespy PC that sucks is the front end...  thankfully that will be the part that Nintendo provides.

Ian do you have a regular router?  Cause you'll need one of those for the Rev regardless... spending an extra 10 bucks on a wireless one isn't that big of a deal...

How long did it take you to shelf that VCR and buy a DVD player?

All I can say is its very blah.  It looks exactly like what it is...a very slight upgrade to the X-Box.  The real question is what will the public think?

I still think the video game industry is still MTV enough to push this system on like the X-Box, but I really feel like the bottom is going to fall out eventually if MS stays on its current course.
