Here's the chat thread for tonight's WiFi night! You can talk here, or, better yet, hit up the official NWR chat...

Here are all of the friend codes from the last thread. If you didn't get yours in in time to make this list, just add it to this thread.

Mop_it_up is a girl? This is news to me.

I've got no problem with the Wiimakes. I only buy them if I missed the game on Cube and so far that is only Power Tennis (of the announced games) which I got the free review copy of.

BTW, I'm loving the main Power Tennis gameplay, but the imprecision of the controls makes many of the mine games WAY too impossible and/or random.

My review is in process right now.

As for remaking old games, I'm fine with it if it makes sense.  The problem with, say, mapping motion controls to the original Super Mario Bros., is that the levels weren't designed with the motion control in mind.  The game would surely come out WAY too difficult.  See my example above of Mario Power Tennis.  The motion controls work great in the main game as I appreciate the level of unpredictability to a swing.  However, look at the painting the wall mini game.  It is next to impossible to reliably hit some of the spots on the wall, thus making the entire mini game a worthless crap shoot.

Do you think it's less than stellar GP?

1206
As of right now, I'm still not sure if I will be able to play. :-/

1207
Well everyone called it and Mario Kart Wii won!  Maybe Smash Bros. won't win next week! =P

Drop your friend code in this thread ONLY if you are playing on Thursday!

I'm resisting as I have the original and finished it =P.  In fact, when I had the copy at my place for the evening, I didn't let myself put it in the system because I didn't want to like it. =P

I found the site by serendipity. Gamespy used to have dedicated sites for various PC games (planetQuake, planetHitman, etc) I typed in planetgamecube.com and was shocked and dismayed that it wasn't a Gamespy sight. Years later, I'm still ticked off about it.
This is precisely how I found the site too.

Ya know Vudu, technically I could warn you for impersonating a staff member there. ;)

Please remove it or make it even more clear you are joking besides just the wink face. :)

See you made a bad assumption there decoyman... that being that I actually edited it. =P

I pushed record. Talked at my screen. Thought I pushed the flip button. Then uploaded to YouTube. =P

I'm totally not happy with the light in that room either... if I do start doing this more I'll probably take some steps to make everything look nicer.  Hell, my digital camera may take better video than my webcam, so I may use that next time.

Also, I'm planning on picking up a Nikon d90 over the next few months, which probably does even better video yet.

Heh I think that's how I am in general... =P

Maybe that and I have a hard time talking to no one. =P

My favorite insanity effect by far is the Controller Disconnected one.

I think the effectiveness of this was amplified by the fact that Eternal Darkness came out at the same time as the wavebird and as such it was one of the first games I played using it. That left the door open for me to be really stressed out.

My initial impressions are a little mixed.

Shot types (with the exception of super shots) are totally controlled using motions.  This even includes shot direction (much like Wii Tennis).  The result initially is a much less precise experience obviously.  I'll see if that changes as I get more practice.

Overall though I feel like more (dare I say) casual people will enjoy this game and I plan to use my fiancee as a test of this theory.  She hated Mario Tennis for the n64 (the last one I played) because the difference between an experienced player and her was so great, and she didn't want to spend the time to become experienced.  She loved Wii Sports Tennis though.  My guess is she'll enjoy this Power Tennis port more than the n64 tennis.

The burning question will be this though... will she enjoy it more than Wii Sports Tennis?

Yeah, it's mirrored. That's how my web cam films stuff.  I then went in and saved the video out flipped.. but for some reason YouTube reversed it back again. Meh. I'm just going with it.

I've been pretty excited about the New Play Control! games coming to Wii. When I heard about the reversible cover arts, I figured a video unboxing was in order!

So is it not a product of pressing hard, but more a product of the game not recognizing it until it's been held there for a set amount of time? That sounds like they felt the need to make sure the player was doing what they were doing.

I'm definitely interested in Peggle for the DS. I played the Mac demo some time ago and liked it, but couldn't bring myself to actually buy it.

As an aside, Q Games and Q Entertainment need to have a boxing match to determine who gets the sole use of the letter Q.

I found the feature to turn it on so everyone can see them, but thinking about this, that info doesn't need to be broadcast to the world.

I believe users can currently see if another user is being watched, which means their warning level is about 25%. That should be all the info you need.

So you can't see them by looking at their profile? I need to make a dupe so I can see what non-mods see.

Spak, she doesn't like any of those things you just said.

I do know she likes Grant Hill and Matt Barnes but not Steve Nash or Amare Stoudemire.

I'm pretty sure I would rebuy Mario Kart if they reprinted the game entirely but added voice support. That is of course, if all of my friends that I play with were willing to do the same, otherwise it would be pointless.
