Gotta love Penny Arcade.

ThreeSpeach comic ftw: http://www.penny-arcade.com/images/2007/20070627.jpg

I also love the closing line on their main page blog (http://www.penny-arcade.com/):

"With the compact E3 about to begin, the tactical nature of the conflict will become more brutal.  People get even nastier when they're vying for second place than when they're fighting for first.  When you're playing for scraps - and rest assured, dear readers, that you and I are the scraps - you have to get all of them to make it work.  Nintendo has simply skipped the first phase - building the brand with us - and jumped straight to the mainstream play.  It's worked flawlessly.  And it's made their competitors increasingly uncomfortable."

So true.

I never minded the way the Gamecube controller was set up, though this is a nice feature.

Misty was in SSBM as a trophy if memory serves correctly =)

Well they did move the next Dragon Quest game to the DS, which is a huge move considering how immensely popular the game is in Japan. I wouldn't be surprised if the Final Fantasy series starts to make its home on Nintendo consoles once again as well. Just a matter of time.

Edit: On a side note, what ever happened to the Marvel vs franchise from Capcom? I wish they would make a 3rd already for Wii =P

Edit2: never mind, EA owns the rights to the marvel characters now. Stupid EA.

Haha yeah they did indeed really did it. Truth be told it's actually the ONLY time I had to contact Nintendo for a hardware fix but it was enough to make me say they have outstanding customer service. What other company would do that?

Also you're probably right about being a loyal customer and such. Gotta love Nintendo!

Yeah clearly that device is NOTHING like the Wiimote and nunchuck at all. Clearly.

/facepalm

Stupid Sony fanboys.

Denjet I agree, Nintendo has an outstanding service department.

I will never forget when they fixed my SNES. Sometime around 1998 I noticed SNES started to no longer display games in color. It was very weird and replacing cables and switching TVs didn't help. I didn't play the system all that much (N64 and all) but around a year later (1999) I decided to see if I could get it fixed.

I called Nintendo (mind you this is around 7 to 8 years after I got the system) and told them the issue and wondered how much it would cost to get fixed. I think I gave them some number on the system, then they asked me some questions (like how many games I owned and such, lol). Apparently it was a known issue with a few of the early SNES' and they would be happy to fix it for FREE and they just told me to have the system ready to ship.

Got it back a few weeks later good as new =)

Even though it was a known issue, I was still amazed that after 7 or 8 years of owning it that they would still fix it free of charge.

If people are really complaining about an item update . . . they really need to find something better to do with their lives.

What the hell do people expect? A new character everyday or something?

I know Sony likes to rip off Nintendo but come on . . . that would just be TOO blatant.

3040
I think the graphics look nice but outside of that I have no interest in the game. I was just adding to the conversation TBH.

The last, non-tactics FF game I played was 7. While it was really good I still didn't get sucked into the series as a whole.

You can use the Gamecube controller if you like =)

The game supports the Wiimote and nunchuck combo, the classic controller and the GC controller.

Read over the development section, apparently their 'white engine' is practically built around the PS3's cell processor.

"The White Engine reportedly uses 4 of the 6 developer-available synergistic processing elements (SPEs) of the Cell processor to achieve near-pre-rendered CGI quality in realtime."

Call me a pessimist but I don't care what reports say about development, it still is basically vapor ware until we see more! Come to think of it I am creating a squid vs shark vs mermaid MMORPG for PS3 and it is using the Blue Engine. You want to see actual screenshots of the gameplay? Geesh why do you need to see that? All you need to know is that it is basically built around the PS3 hardware and uses 5 of 6 developer-available synergistic processing elements!

Sorry but the battle sequence seems like they got the battle engine and real time graphics going to some extent, seems pretty real to me.

I played through the initial game and beat it and am working on the extras.

The game is really good still. I had the Gamecube version a while back but traded it in. Getting it again for wii for 30 dollars was a great purchase, IMHO, and it feels very different with the wii controls. In a good way. The game still looks great and the extras are really nice if you never got the PS2 version.

It's a great single player experience and I highly recommend it.

Thank you for saying that Mario, I wouldn't have checked this early for an update.

What a beautiful and upbeat rendition/remix of the classic OoT music. The sheer production value and polish of this game has me drooling I can't freaking wait for this to come out.

Bravo to everyone working on this game it's going to be a masterpiece.

Edit: Though the Metroid music sample is still my favorite, that remains one of my all time favorite game tracks and I love how the remixed it =D.

Ah yes Kanto, thank you (my pokemon history is a tad rusty). Thanks for the back story on how that worked in GSC =).

I know it would be weird and a little tricky to work in all the regions but I'm sure they could figure out some system with the levels to make it work.

Yeah I woulda thought lightgun games and ports from the arcade would be coming out like crazy for the Wii.

I agree 3rd parties are very dumb.

Good to hear Pale =)

And (to professional 666) can you really call Pokemon a 'fad'? Considering the same formula has been used for what, 10 years now and it still sells like crazy . . .

Cash cow yes, but fad no.

Haha so true. It's sad but I really don't like many of the new pokemon prior to getting the national dex. They are cool and all but all of my soon to be final team are guys you get after you beat the game =/.

I one day hope for a handheld or *GASP* full blown console version of pokemon that allows you to beat one continents champion then move on to another. Kinda like the show, maybe even restrict you to what pokemon you have access to on the next continent until you get to X point or something.

I never got the GBC PKMN games but didn't silver and gold do something similar with revisiting the hoenn region after you beat the johoto area? Wish they would do something like that again.
