TalkBack / RE: Australian Gaming Industry worth $1 Billion
« on: July 29, 2007, 10:02:03 PM »
I think this news post is an excellent example of how Case is a valuable member to the NWR staff. His excellent posting skills put those of other staffers to shame and clearly shows us the new direction NWR is going in. A direction of unrivaled, high quality, hard hitting reporting which only members such as Case can bring to the fold. The discussion of Australia's game industry will be a topic touched on for months, maybe even years, thanks to Case.

In no way was I payed to say this.

Regardless my point remains valid, so long as people are killing in the name of religion, religious beliefs leading to conflicts and wars are contradictory to their very teachings which is why I don't really take to any of the major religions as they all seem to be involved in that one way or another.

Attacking LOTR films and insulting Peter Jackson=loss of credibility

QFT

Peter Jackson loves the Lord of the Rings and lovingly made those films, far better than anyone could have done.

Quote

Too bad LotR should've never been made into an action picture.

Well thankfully you're not a person in charge of making those decisions as you would have deprived the world of one of the greatest film trilogies ever made.

It would be impossible to translate everything the books held for the series onto the big screen and anyone who denies that is just lying to themselves.

Perhaps, but if they are fighting in the name of religion, religion is the at least part of the cause.

a subject that many people have died for and/or are willing to die for.

and yet religions all teach us that killing is bad (if people are dying for religion they are fighting over religious beliefs more than likely) . . .

hence why major bodies of religion are a joke and people shouldn't complain about references to said religions in video games.

/discuss

Edit: To clarify, religious beliefs aren't a joke but the major bodies of religious teaching that use the religion as a tool for war makes those very bodies of religion a joke.

Viva Pinata DS announced
/clap?

Update: via Kotaku.com

. . . this is a total improvement on the 360 version. Rare are adding a sandbox mode, there'll be wi-fi swapping of pinatas, the journal and encyclopedia have been upgraded and it will feature even more pinatas than the original. Best of all, the stylus will allow you to directly control your pinatas, so (hopefully) no more sitting by helplessly as some bad guy strolls in and eats your entire family of sister-f****** worms.

Super Metroid wont come out till a landmark number simply based on the fact that the game has never seen a release outside of the SNES. /sigh

If he cares about graphics that much he should switch to reviewing PS3 games.

Well just because it's a Wii doesn't mean the game shouldn't look nice.

I beg to differ, the SNES Genesis war was one of my favorite periods of gaming!

Well . . . there IS an explanation for Yoshi(s?) acting as individuals.

See the Mother Brain used to be the overlord of all the Yoshi and kept the hive-mind structure going for the society. However, when Samus destroyed Mother Brain in Super Metroid this hive-mind link was destroyed.

Thus Boshi came to be and was the first and only Yoshi to strive to be unique.

Rather support MS with their crappy customer services but other wise solid Xbox360 then support Sony with their over price piece of junk PS3.

One of the pluses I did get from opening up my 360 is that I made this really cool case mod which will look pretty damn cool on my next 360.

Or you can support neither like me =P

(If I had to choose the lesser of two evils I would have to go with Sony though).

but it lacks some of the completely integrated magic that certain timeless episodes had

True but I mean its near impossible to expect a movie of a series that is going on its 19th season to really be as good as its peak (without recycling material, which is another reason why the Simpsons lost a lot of it's magic.). Honestly a series can only go on so long before becoming stale and played out and if anything the movie would have been a great ending to the series as it was "Real Good" as you put it.

Though I will say the movie had one moment where I had to give props to Julie Kavner the voice of Marge in the video recorded scene explaining to Homer that the love in their marriage was pretty much gone and that to show how serious she was she recorded over their wedding tape. The raw emotion from her voice was so perfectly done that it gave a level of emotion I haven't felt from the series well ever. So it did have some magic

Wow it's Kairon?

I always thought it was Karion . . . that's how I pronounced it in my head.

I feel like Homer "Her name is Kerbople? I've been calling her Krabapple! Ohhhh all this time I've sounded like an idiot!!!"
