Fluery's ass cost the Penguins the game.

This postseason has got me really into hockey, I intend to buy Center Ice next season so I can watch my Flyers all year long.

You can delete them using homebrew solutions.

I'm dying for blocks, could you please direct me toward information on how to do this?

TalkBack / Re: REVIEWS: Dr. Mario Online Rx
« on: June 04, 2008, 09:58:30 PM »

I might be alone in this, but I think Dr. Mario is the better multiplayer game (4 player or no 4 player) while Tetris is the far superior singleplayer game.

I would agree with this, but say that Dr. Mario isn't even the best multiplayer puzzle game made by Nintendo (Panel de Pon/Puzzle League).

This looks purty.  Curved roads are a pretty big deal.  They make the cities in the screens look much more naturally developed.  More freedom is always a good thing in these games, anyway.  I just hope it has the right amount of depth.  I'm pretty sure it won't have too much (like SC4), but it may have too little.

It's easy to make it look nice when you're just building the city and there isn't really much of a game behind it.

Though am I the only person who doesn't like to trash his city with disasters.  It really doesn't interest me at all.  I want to make a huge metropolis.

It's not like it's permanent.  You save, fire up the disasters for a little childish destructive fun, then reload your save and get back to figuring out how to solve traffic congestion downtown without bulldozing your tax base to build a freeway.

When I was a kid I made a huge Sim City 2000 city, every tile covered, arcologies and everything, and then someone who I thought was my friend burned it to the ground and then saved it.

It's a Wii exclusive from Capcom that they're giving high priority to, looks like more traditional gameplay, is called by Capcom "big and epic", and has what sounds like a very talented team working on it. I'd say the correct response is cautious optimism.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: WiiFit/Balance Board Accessories
« on: June 03, 2008, 08:54:03 PM »
Well I work at GameStop so I've seen the Silicon mats for the balance board. In fact, they were on sale like 2 weeks BEFORE Wii Fit came out, which I found to be special. I have not seen the battery packs actually though, though apparently as from what I've heard the batteries drain pretty quickly so they might be useful. What I'm really wondering is when they'll release the balance board as a singular accessory so multiple people can play with one game instead of needing two copies.

The Wii Fit manual says you can only have one balance board connected to a Wii at one time, so extra balance boards wouldn't make much sense.

I hope this is only true for Wii Fit, and that the Wii can handle more than one Balance Boards.  I hope 2 is possible for some Skate it competition, or some nice Snowboard races later.

It wasn't the Wii Fit manual, it was the Balance Board manual, so unless they can change it with a firmware update it seems to be true for everything.

With a name like that it has to be good!

If the balance board support is good then I will play this game.  Which I hope it is.  But, if the balance board support doesn't work then this game is just another Tony Hawk game, which I will find boring.

This sums it up for me, the only reason I'm interested in this is the balance board support, if that's not good then I don't care about the game.

I recently bought the original trilogy on DVD and I've been looking for an opportunity to watch them. It's really stupid if that guy was a General, though, because if he was doing something like that it would seem like he would be a naval officer.

The Empire has both an Army and a Navy, actually.  :P

I'm aware of that, but since it seems like a combined service I figured it would make more sense with only one set of ranks. Plus, I'm pretty sure the only time I heard General was in the prequels. Oh, and the Rebels used the rank in the original trilogy.

Ok so the dream goes like this, I am riding around in the Tardis with the Doctor and my one friend, who is looking for something but never finds it. Then we end up going into this other dimension to find Rose Tyler (from the show Doctor Who) and we end up getting off on a Star Destroyer where I am now a General for the Empire and am holding the Doctor as a prisoner. As an agent of the great and glorious New Order, I am obbsessed with opening the Tardis to get to the power source in side of it and make a weapon out of it.

Then Rose comes in and we take her to the detention block and (I have to censor this part for content) afterwards we preceed to interigate the "Doctor" only to find out that the "Time Vortex" that exists inside the heart of the Tardis is in fact the source of the "force" and that it was a group of deranged Time Lords that ended up crossing into the alternate universe where we exist and founded the Jedi religion.

(now I am no longer the Imperial General but me again) me, the doctor, my crazy friend and now Rose all get back in the Tardis, escaping the Imperials and wind up back on earth where we have an emergency meeting with the Power Rangers who proceed telling us that Zordon is dead, and that me, my friend, and (it's not Rose anymore but my girlfriend from a few years ago) anyways they are telling us we need to "rejoin" the Power Rangers because the world is in danger and we all jump into our Dino Zords and (the doctor has vanished by now) and then we start fighting evil emo teenagers whose powers are singing Green Day songs, which causes us to lose power, we then get back into the Tardis, no Doctor anymore just me and my 2 friends, and then I wake up.

When I had this dream it had been over a year or more since I had seen Star Wars, oh several years since I had seen anything with Power Rangers in it and a couple of weeks since the last Doctor Who episode. Crazy huh? Also when I went to bed I was thinking about my rude comments I made about Kairon and one of the power rangers mentioned that in my dream.

I thought the Empire had Admirals, not Generals.

General Gaming / Re: Wii 2/Revolution? Xbox 720? PS4? Oh my!
« on: June 02, 2008, 09:53:51 PM »
The pointer is the big control revolution of the Wii, at least for traditional games.
Lol mouse controls aren't revolutionary.
If you want to get picky accelerometers have been used before, too. It is revolutionary as part of the primary controller of a game console.

in the case of Metroid, regarding waggle, can you sit there with a straight face and say using motion controls for the grapple beam wasn't awesome?
It would've been nice if the "pull" gesture had actually worked consistently.
It did for me.

Morari's Allen Carr. That's why he's frequenting this talkback, getting people to see it, drumming up interest for this game. Who'd have thought Morari was a Ubisoft plant?

I didn't feel like reading walls of text from some new person I've never heard of, but I read Mashiro's walls of text because despite his defection to the dark side lol I still like him.

I agree with a lot of your points, online is good, I don't care that much about HD but it would be nice to have. Traditional controls still have an important place in gaming, 512 MB is nowhere near enough (I'm not sure if you made that point, you had two long posts and I don't remember everything you wrote, but if you didn't make that point you should have). Comparing 1:1 motions in games to athletic competition is crazy, you don't need to run a 4.4 40 yard dash to play Wii Tennis, senior citizens can do it.

Then there are a couple points I disagree with. First, you're right, the motion control hasn't been used effectively, but you downplay how good the pointer is. The pointer is the big control revolution of the Wii, at least for traditional games. Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition and Metroid Prime 3 could have been (and have been) done with a standard gamepad, but the pointer makes them better (and in the case of Metroid, regarding waggle, can you sit there with a straight face and say using motion controls for the grapple beam wasn't awesome?).

Second, I think it's way too early to say that the Wii doesn't deserve to win this generation. You could argue that it didn't deserve to win like this, it didn't deserve to win so early with the lineup so far. Things don't always work out fairly in the game industry, if they did the Dreamcast would have had a much longer life. My point is that there are at least 3 more years of life in the Wii, more than it's had so far. I do think the third parties (some of them, the ones that aren't Ubisoft) will come around.

Well there you go, my own mini wall of text.

I don't know if you like turn-based strategy games, but if you do you can't do any better than Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. It's basically Civilization but better, and it's almost 10 years old so it will definitely run on your hardware. The trick is finding a copy, like I said it's almost 10 years old.

TalkBack / Re: Disaster: Day of Crisis Japanese Release Delayed Again
« on: June 02, 2008, 05:08:36 PM »
Bob Dole doesn't like ED.

This makes me less interested in the game.  I know "a delayed game is eventually good" and all that jazz, but in practice it usually turns out more like, "A delayed game is eventually released with dated graphics and major gameplay flaws."

It works when Miyamoto does it. I think everyone else just half-asses it when they delay a game to fix things and make improvements, so maybe having Nintendo in charge can make it work.

If they make it good (big if) a Star Wars Smash Bros. clone (ha ha, Smash Bros. Clone Wars) could be really good on the DS, but unless the Wii version included lag-free online play I don't see me getting it.

Seeing screens of the DS version sent me into major nostalgia and reading the preview gave me hope that they wouldn't screw it up, and I have even higher hopes for the Wii one, but probably lower expectations.

If you want something for multiplayer, more of a core game, and if you don't have it already (it's the best-selling TG VC game), Bomberman 93 is great (unless you're playing single player, then it sucks). If you already have that or want something a bit more obscure, get Chew Man Fu. It's got a stupid name and a stupid story, but it's a very fun action puzzle game.
