General Gaming / Wing Commander Arena
« on: August 28, 2007, 02:59:53 PM »
Well as some of you may know I'm a huge Wing Commander fan.  Like, I run a fansite status.  So naturally I purchased the XBLA game "Wing Commander Arena", I was excited, without any big expectations since I knew well ahead of time what to expect from it.  The problem is, I've only been able to play the single player games 'cause I can never find anybody online!  That tends to be a problem for a multiplayer game.

So even though I have a feeling that I am doomed to suffer the fight alone in the dark corriders that are single player tacked on game modes, perchance did anyone here get ahold of it and would you be willing to give it ago on some multiplayer?

I'm trudging through MP2 to prepare for this... are videogames supposed to feel like a chore?

Wait, somebody clarify the Spielberg/Lynch reference, I'm confused.  Were you saying Spielberg has stayed consistent throughout his career and that Lynch achieved what he wanted then settled into mediocrity, or vice-versa?

Sorry to disrupt the Nights discussion, I was just confused by that post.

I haven't seen a Wii regularly in stock anywhere since launch, and I'm in CA.  If you know when they're coming you can plan for one but I've never been able to just walk into a store and see a few waiting to be purchased.

Mashiro, why do you keep using backslashes before words at the end of your posts?

My experience as well.  Prime 2 was just really boring to me.

Don't forget that whole "word of mouth" thing.  One factor to MP2 not selling so well was that it wasn't that good of a game.  If MP3 is a good game, it will sell well.  Well at least it SHOULD (not always what actually happens in this industry).

Mission Impossible was awesome, I loved sneaking around the big mansion like place and switching faces with the scientists.

And Phoenix, thumbs up to the Black Arachnia avatar!

Haha, no problem.  Although, a hybrid Megatron/Wesker would be pretty awesome.  ;-)

Frank Welker was the voice of Megatron.  Just noticed that typo.

The items are part of the game and part of the challenge.  It's kind of like shooters when people complain about Snipers ruining matches, and being "cheap".  It's an added challenge that truly skilled players learn to overcome.

Now, personally, I can't stand Snipers in online death matches, but that's because I suck at shooters for the most part.

Yeah, I was really confused about that as well.

I actually really liked the N64 Mission Impossible game.  Not sure if it would hold up with me well now but I remember liking it a lot.  That and the game where you're on a space station and you control multiple animals to get through the stages.  What was that called?

When Nintendo fans use the word "waggle", it's empowering.

1122
I would have liked the TP Link outfit more if they would have kept the collars.

1123
That's pretty harsh towards Daisy.

1124
The funny thing is that I never thought of myself as a "hardcore gamer" until after this generation.  It's like all of the sudden since I enjoy single player games I'm part of the "old school" or something.
