When I was trying to capture Qurupeco, Rathian showed up after I had already weakened Qurupeco enough to capture so I decided to paint ball Rathian and try to kill it. I chased it all over the place and actually got it to drop a claw once while it fled. Also it had started feeding on the herbivores in the woods. I think I was close to killing him, but I quit trying with 5 minutes left so I could go capture Qurupeco.

Yeah, offline I've done all the quests right up until the one where you hunt Royal Ludroth, but I never tried it. I've played quite a bit though, it took me a while to be able to get the armor I have now and upgrade my weapons to my liking. That fight was really fun though, I thought it was great. I love how everything changes once you jump in the water. Good stuff.

If you combine the trap tool with a net then you get a pitfall trap. The spiderweb and Ivy make a net. I wish you could take more than one trap with you though.

That hunt was awesome, I've never fought Royal Ludroth before. Sorry for being so dumb, I couldn't figure out how to write in the chat, then I only knew how to use the quick quotes. I figured it out at the end, but I wanted to let you guys know I wasn't just ignoring you or whatever. Hopefully I'll get wii speak soon and it won't matter anyways. I thought the monster guts one was hilarious because we clearly were not seeing the same thing on our screens. All of the sudden things would die right before I got to them with nobody around.

Thanks guys, I can't wait to do this again.

I'm going online for the first time right now. If anybody wants to hit up the level 1 quests with me let me know. My name is Armak and my ID is VQKTAW.

I agree with Pro, and I'm shocked to see the post.  Basically, it feels like an early last-gen game with better graphics, but unpolished gameplay.  The reality, if I've read correctly, is the LOOOOOOOOOONG action delays are meant to add strategy, but for at least anyone new to the series, they're just long periods of time where control is removed from the player, and often, devastating things occur at the same time.

That said, I'm shocked to find the online play is tolerable, which is something that rarely happens for me.

I've got to ask, how far into the game are you? Before playing the game my concern was that this would be a press A until it dies game, but by the time you take down great jaggi I think the game will show you that is not the case. I faced Great Jaggi with the full hunter's gear set and the Iron Great Sword+. I managed to kill it only because of item management and stringing together combos. I didn't even know that you could do different combo's in the beginning but it really opens up the combat. I find that if I swap different moves in and out of the combo I can control not only the timing but where I end up. Connect this with the roll and block and combat is not as slow paced or as out of your control as you might think. Plus half the battle is item management.

I think I am about ready to take this online. I have just unlocked the 2 star quests, does anybody know if this is an alright place to start?

I had Oni Link before I fought Majora as well. I actually remember destroying him in seconds and then reseting the game before I saw the end. I then fought him again without the mask and it was awesome.

I hope there is more colour than what those shots show. The concept art had really sharp colouring that I thought looked really cool.

I think that the bad thing about the beginning is that there is a lot of text and a lot of learning to do. There is just so much that you can do. I found it didn't bother me because every time something new was introduced I was excited by the idea of how it could affect the game play. I understand that some people wouldn't see it that way though and have a hard time making it through the tutorial like first part of the game. For some people, I think that it really takes until you see everything coming together and starting to forge some cool equipment. I'm not so sure you could have a game like this that really hooks you from the get go. The demo lost people because they felt like they were thrown in the deep end, and the game loses people because it takes the time to explain the mechanics of the game. A happy medium would be difficult to find.

That disallowed goal by Daniel Sedin was a terrible call. And yeah, Canucks have got to get their **** together on PK. I won't be able to see the game tonight which is too bad because it's going to be a good one. Luongo is taking a lot of flak, but I think he's been playing pretty well, that big save was really a game breaker.

Kovalchuck is still a good trade for the devils. Their top scorers just disappeared in the playoffs, like Marty said, they never elevated their level of play and you can't win in the post season unless you do.

Also I'm glad that this thread got revived.

Bravo theperm, I also loved TP. If it were a little more difficult (especially the bosses) it would have had a more sustainable impact on me. I get the criticism against it, but let's not fool ourselves, TP was a fantastic game. I enjoyed playing as a wolf, it felt different than being a person and different than riding a horse. I was wowed when I got the iron boots so early in the game and then got magnetized to the ceiling. I didn't see the ball and chain or the spinner coming in by a long shot. That doesn't mean that I think the game is perfect, but I had a damn good time playing it.

What I want more than anything is more opportunities to use the items you get. The 2D games are much better at this. I am tired of items becoming essentially useless once you defeat the boss of the dungeon they are in. It seems like only the usual zelda items (bow, bombs and hookshot) get to be used more than in their own dungeon and a few isolated instances in the overworld. By the end of the game you usually have more than 10 items you can use, I want to see bosses and puzzles in the later dungeons that make me use these items in interesting combinations.

I also think that part of the problem comes from the story. Nothing is ever going to be more fundamental to the zelda mythos as OoT. Wind Waker was probably the best that Nintendo could have done to follow it up from that standpoint.

I get where you guys come from when you say we don't want another OoT, but I think that you are misinformed about what old OoT fans want. I have a couple friends who are these people. Haven't played a zelda since OoT and have been waiting for zelda to be "cool like OoT was" again. MM was stupid because there was a time limit and you had to play as a stupid tree kid. WW was gay because it was a cartoon. TP was stupid because "I don't want to play as some gay wolf." These are the same people who buy one cloned FPS after another and the reason I don't care and don't want nintendo to care about what makes Zelda popular. Instead be more concerned with what makes a GOOD zelda game and let that find an audience (because it will). As far as I'm concerned, we can leave those type of fans behind.

I can't decide if I want to play it with my fiance or not. It could be fun, but it could also be frustrating haha.

I would like to nominate Goof Troop for the SNES. I was going through some old SNES games with my brother and we saw this one and had a good time talking about how we used to play it. It is a top down action adventure staring the Disney characters Goofy and Max. The game is mostly focused on puzzle solving with moving blocks and using items to unlock doors and get treasures. The combat usually involves throwing items at enemies. The real star of this game, however, is the co-op. Two players can play simultaneously and work together to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. This game was really fun and I have many good memories of it. Unfortunately the game isn't available for VC but I'll nominate it anyways because it is sweet.

TalkBack / Re: Okami Creator Wants To Make Star Fox At Gun Point
« on: April 19, 2010, 11:27:49 PM »
Why don't they just handle "on-foot" (out of the starwing) missions like S&P gameplay with a jetpack on StarFox's back, or make it the exact same left to right gameplay on the ground with a barrel roll while on foot? doesn't seem that difficult. Use the pointer for aiming.... I can picture it in my head.

The most frustrating thing is that we can all picture it in out heads. Making a new starfox should be a no brainer, yet I have very little faith that it will happen.

93
Is there any word on how this will work? I think it would be awesome if you were able to create cloud platforms with the pointer. Granted this would work better in 2d, but Galaxy still has some 2d parts. It would create a similar feeling to tilting the platforms with the remote in NSMBWii, especially if the level design forces you to create clouds in mid jump.

I only caught the Sharks and the Penguins games yesterday, but they were fantastic. Sharks win in OT after having two tying goals called back and finally tying it up in the dying seconds of the game. How about that Galiardi for Colorado. The Pens game was amazing too, and Crosby is an animal.

I'm curious Jon, why do you like the Sharks? I've never been able to be into them, but I also really don't like Thornton.

If they weren't going up against my old team mate, I would be pulling for Vancouver all the way. I think they have a reasonable chance this year (I thought they did last year too, but they're in even better shape this year) but I think they're going to have a tough time against Chicago. The Sedin's are really out of control, but the Black Hawks are going to hit anything that moves.

Washington and Vancouver are playing tonight, so it's going to be more good hockey. Did I mention that I love playoffs.

Yeah, I don't think the leafs thing will happen for a while, but when it does, I'll be downtown in the think of it. Unless of course I'm eighty years old, which is possible. I'm a leafs fan, but I'm not an idiot, I know they're bad.

Ah yes I forgot about the Flyers. To be fair though, I always thought that would be a close series so it didn't register as much of an upset to me. Neither did the Buffalo Boston game, but it was right in front of me at the time so I put it in there. If the Flyers can get out of the series quick then they'll fare much better in the next round. It's going to be a physical series against the Devils and a long series will be draining on anyone who comes out into the next round.

I think that I would like to see a rematch of last years cup final, if only because it was so good last year. On the other hand I would like to see a Canadian team go to the finals so I pull for Vancouver because I'm from Toronto and I hate Ottawa. HOWEVER, I'm also pulling for the LA Kings because of Wayne Simmonds, who I used to play with when we were 13-15. I decided to get an education, he's playing in the NHL.... I hope he does well though, it's cool to see someone you know.

Seriously, how about them series openers? You've got Ottawa beating Pittsburgh, Montreal beating Washington, Buffalo beating Boston, Colorado beats San Jose (the only one I called) and Phoenix beating Detroit. Now I'm sitting here watching Ian's Canuck's losing their grip in a 2 all game against Los Angeles. I love playoff hockey, everybody is trying so hard that anything can happen.

Come now, I want to hear predictions about who will take home Lord Stanley and arguments about whether Crosby is better than Ovechkin and blind accusations about how the Sharks will never win because Joe Thornton can't figure it out in the playoffs. I'm not completely surprised that nobody is talking about this, but come on! It's playoff hockey! It's great!

oh man, if armak shows up drunk i'll do a few shots during the game!

Like I said, I'll be in a hockey tournament. We usually start drinking after the first game and don't stop drinking til we're out, or we win the championship and we drink more. Our first game is at 10am and we're pretty good, so you do the math.

99
I can probably play at night, I'm in a hockey tournament though, so I don't know when that will be finished. Either way I'll be hammered so it will be interesting.

To go back to the OP - if you're not watching Breaking Bad, you should be.  Season three is AWESOME.

I just got into breaking bad and have caught up on the first two seasons and it is awesome. I have been a little underwhelmed by the third season though. The second season was so good, and this season is taking forever to have anything happen. I know that things are building up towards something crazy, but I can't handle episode after episode of ratcheting up the tension without anything else happening. I think that the first two seasons did a great job of having multiple plot threads going on at once. In this season it seems like all of the plot threads are converging, which is cool, but there isn't really anything else going on in the meantime. I'm still watching because I'm completely hooked, but after yesterday's episode I felt a little let down.
