Wasn't that guy banned?

Well D Average then.  Or DAVE RAGE or Da Verage. or however you say that.

Another bad thing is that most of these crappy idea come not from the hinterlands of Gamefaqs, but from real video game reporters who know better.  Your role is not to usurp the director's chair with your crappy ideas about a steampunk Zelda fighting game.  I mean do they do this with any other series or game company?  Nobody envisions a Final Fantasy set in Chicago in 1880.  Nobody begs for Metal Gear to have a Monkey Spy that shoots lighting from it's ass.  Why does Zelda get this crap.

Hell not TWO MINUTES after I typed that, this post appears on GAF:

Open with a close-up of Link taking a drag from a cigarette. The camera zooms out to show Link tossing the cigarette away. Then the camera moves behind Link, showing the skyscrapers of Neo Hyrule. Then we hear Link, in the voice of Max Payne, "No one beats the city. We get a few draws, a few good dreams in a lifetime of nightmares, but the city always has one hand better. The drugs, the sex, the murder... it's a losing battle, and we're only along for the ride. Last night a man raped his daughter. She'll never tell anyone about it. It's a sick world, and this city's the virus. The whores walking the streets, the single mothers, the tycoons in their penthouses, they're all just cogs in the machine. But I'm no cog. I have the Triforce of Courage, and tonight I hold a winning hand.

What the hell is wrong with these people?

Frank Miller's Zelda?

This is both funny and sad.

wow.

what I'm exited about is that this is supposed to provide a more challenging experience than the original. The original was fantastic, but you could literally beat the game without actually having to get face any really challenging stars. Most of the difficulty was in the special levels, comets, and the purple coins. If this game plays and looks just like the first but gives me new environments and a real challenge, that is something to be excited about.

TalkBack / Re: There Won't Be Blood

I don't know if it's really about how realistic the game is. Even in Zelda there is some kind of direct feedback from a sword strike. I remember slashing the lizards in OoT would send blue blood flying, the sound and the sparks were also part of this feedback. But in Red steel it's more direct because of the gun use and the first person perspective.

It always bothered me in the X-men cartoon that whenever Wolverine would fight something organic his claws were always out but he never so much as scratched anyone, but when he would fight robots like the sentinals, he would be cutting of their heads and slicing off limbs. Much like the cartoon, with red steel, it's just lame that you have a weapon that doesn't do what it should.

Let Wolverine use his claws!

I actually found that the original metroid played better the further into it you got. Once you get the high jump and the ledge grab and a half decent gun the game isn't nearly as unforgiving. But all the same, zero mission and super metroid are far and away superior.

I suppose my experience with this game is pretty different from most of you guys. The first Metroid I ever played was the first Metroid Prime. I loved it and played it to death finding every possible power up and expansion. Eventually, I unlocked the original Metroid and played that. I got pretty far but I don't think that I ever beat it. I then bought Fusion and loved that and bought Zero Mission. I then bought Super Metroid when it came out on VC.

When Super Metoid first came out I was pretty young and didn't know anything about gaming media or release dates, I pretty much knew what was out based entirely on what was on the shelf at BlockBuster. I also only really got 3 games a year if I was lucky, birthday, Christmas and one that I maybe saved up for. So when Super Metroid hit I didn't even know it existed. That being said, after playing it on the VC I think that it is the best 2d Metroid, although I agree with Jonny that Zero Mission is probably the most refined and best controlled.

All the Metroid talk has caused me to take up the charge in finishing my file in corruption on hyper difficulty, and makes me wish that there was some way to play Metroid 2. I have now played and beat every 2d and 3d metroid with or close to 100% completion with the exception of Metroid 2 which I have never played. I enjoy just about every aspect of the series and I think that this podcast was a great tribute to one of it's strongest entries. Keep up the good work guys.

I've made the Canucks my pick for the cup. They don't have the big guns of some of the other teams, and I don't think their system play, is as good as Detroit, and their intensity is as high as Anaheim's, but they're so tight and confident defensively. Not to mention that goaltending is always a deal breaker in the playoffs. Vancouver's biggest challenge is going to be maintaining offensive pressure in future series. I don't know, the odds aren't really in their favour, I just have a good feeling about them, and the cup belongs in Canada so it would be nice to see it come back.

Mature platformer sounds like an oxymoron. A bloody, gritty realistic game about a guy jumping extremely high and squshing enemies underfoot? W. T. F.

What if there were blood and gore every time he stomped? And what if the enemies didn't disappear once stomped, but later on you might come back to that area and the enemies would reanimate themselves as ghouls.

I think you're limiting yourself too much. At heart, Mirror's Edge is a mature platformer, it's just from the first person perspective. Think less guns and better 3rd person perspective controls. Hell, think prince of persia. The point is that if Nintendo tried their hand at these games, they could infuse them with the great gameplay they are known for, and provide more variety than their current line up. I wouldn't want to see Zelda any more mature than it is already, that's fine, but imagine a Fire Emblem game where you controlled one person like in Zelda. That could pull off a much more mature setting. It doesn't even have to be a FE game, I'm just putting it out there as an example. It would just be cool to see what Nintendo could do with it.

I love playoff hockey. I love it so much. Detroit is a great team, their structured play style is probably one of the best in the league. They'll probably destroy the Blue Jackets, but I'm looking forward to some Rick Nash magic. I'm just really excited.

163
I don't think that Stogi is advocating mature versions of those franchises, rather, think about what a completely new mature platformer would be like with tight controls and polish like the mario games, or the attention to detail and control of metroid, but a new mature FPS, or a game that feels like zelda, but has a decidedly mature setting. I have to say I'd be interested, because the biggest set back of most mature offerings from any developer is that the gameplay is typically bland and uninspired, which is something Nintendo has never had a problem with. It would be interesting to see the fun of Nintendo gameplay in an unfamiliar (and yes, mature) setting.

My gamecube controllers are shot at this point. The grip is coming off of the two that actually work, and on both of those the DI is off by a bit, for instance, I was trying to play pikmin the other day and the down direction was unresponsive. I really want new GC controllers :(

I stopped playing the online part because people always disconnect when I'm winning. I would be down for getting back into it if you wanted a match though... I'll find my copy and post my friend code when I'm back home.

The vs. multiplayer in pikmin 2 was pretty good, so if that came back with online I think that would be good. Co-op campaign seems so obvious after Pikmin 2, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I hope that they keep the day time limit. It's a pretty integral part of the game so I hope it comes back. ALso, I liked the challenge mode in the first Pikmin. landing on the planet with 3 of each pikmin type then seeing how many you could grow in one day was really fun. Online leader boards for that kind of thing would be addicting for me.

Hmm that brings a question to my mind.Has there been a working Boss gauntlet in 3d before?

The Zant fight in Twilight Princess? not a straightforward boss gauntlet, but close enough.

I think the controls are actually a little better than gears so far. Interesting that they make you play as a color blind person, it's very progressive of them to have the protagonist be disabled.

PS360 games haven't had colour for years, it's not progressive, they just finally came up with an excuse.

hmmm, I've been meaning to pick up SoM on VC for some time now. I don't think I'm going to vote, but if SoM wins I'll buy it and play along. I've never played it before, so I'm curious, especially since I played a fair number of RPG's on the SNES.

I'm pretty close to having the complete fossil set in my museum, but I don't think I've gotten anything new in weeks. The fossils I need are:

Triceratops Skull
Parasaur Tail
Sabertooth Tiger Skull
Pteranodon Right Wing
Seismosaur Skull

If anybody finds any of these and already has them I would certainly appreciate you sending them in the mail. Also I'll hold onto the repeat fossils I dig up and if anyone needs them I'll be happy to send them your way.

I know it's late, but if anyone is interested in coming to my town my gates are open. I've been working on it quite a bit, it's not exactly how I want it and I need a ton more flowers but it's getting there. Also I have a cool duck hunt design for anyone who wants it.
