Nintendo Gaming / RE: Manhunt 2 from Rockstar? Whoa...
« on: February 06, 2007, 08:27:48 AM »
I can't freakin wait for MH2!!!  I loved manhunt 1. One of my fav PS2 games.  It was definately shocking to see that the sequel is coming out for the wii though.  Manhunt was by far, the most violent & brutal game I have ever seen. Gears of War is a disney cartoon in comparison. The only way I could get over the violence is that the characters that you are killing are trying to kill you. They are not just innocent bystanders like in GTA.  I just hope they don't edit the Wii version at all.  **cough** green blood in Doom GBA **cough**

are you talking Dinosaur Planet on N64 or Starfox Adventures for DaCube?

Segagamer, I can't claim to be the mental giant who came up with my avatar. I found it on the net somewhere.  I thought it was pretty freakin hilarious so I borrowed it.

Definately rent it first. I tried turning off the dynamic aiming and yes it was more like a PC FPS but at the same time, the sensitivity was insanly low. Even if you crank the sensitivity, it was still extremely sluggish.

Brandogg, I don't think the Wii is powerful enough to do FSAA. At least not more than 2x FSAA which in my experience is not worth the choppier framerate. Maybe in 2nd generation games companies can experiment more with FSAA.

There are some pretty sweet DS homebrew apps that add PDA type functionality. Nothing as complicated as an actual PDA but you can get organizers, calendars, to do lists, e-mail clients, and many others.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: 3rd Revision Wiimote Wrist Strap: CONFIRMED!
« on: February 05, 2007, 02:47:29 AM »
When I got my 4 replacement straps for my 2 controllers I used one of the extras for my DS

I never noticed that the Wii shaped head of strap before!  Nintendo is pretty slick at designing things.

I rented it and played it for about 4 hours this weekend. For the first 2 hours of play, all I could think about was how much I missed my PS2 dualshock... I got used to the controls and I think that while they are not perfect, they are pretty good. I haven't played any other FPS on the wii (unless you count "monkey wars" in Monkey ball)  The graphics are great if it was a gamecube game but are probably about 65% of what the wii is capable of.  I found that the game was really dark and I had to turn up the brightness on my TV. A built in brightness control would have been nice. I'd give it a 8.0/10.

I think Warioware SM is genius. Everything from the art style to the crazy games is just awesome. The wife is pretty obsessed with it right now. The Warioware drinking game sounds pretty sweet.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Any idea on a US Release for DS Browser?
« on: February 01, 2007, 04:43:33 AM »
I don't think I would buy it but I would definatly like to try it.  IGN says it's really slow.  I'm thinking that part of the speed problem could be the internet connection. I have opera-mini on my cell phone and it's pretty fast. It's about the same speed as my Wii browser with wireless connection.

I don't think that would be possible. That would be like if you added an analog stick to the wiimote. You wouldn't be able to accurately point at the screen and use the analog stick on the same remote at the same time. The nunchuk needs to be a seperate entity (even if it's connected by a cord).  What I would like to see is games that use 2 wiimotes at the same time. Wiisports boxing feels weird to have a nunchuk as one fist and the wiimote as the other.

I would like to see the return of Wart! I still think he's a sweet=ass boss. I would like to see Wart as the sidekick for Bowser in the next game.

I think they should make an "anti-mario game".  You play as bowser with similar basic mechanics to New Super Mario Bros except the bosses would be Mario, Luigi, Toad, etc.
That would be sweet

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Trace Memory / Another Code
« on: January 29, 2007, 10:02:45 AM »
Waiting for hotel dusk to come out and because I had an 8 hour plane ride to look forward to I rented trace memory. I beat it in about 6 and a half hours. It was definately a solid rent but I wouldn't recommend buying it. It was pretty short and after the story is played out I can't see it being nearly as fun the 2nd time through.  I'd give it an 7/10.

I just finished NSMB and I thought it was quite good. I loved the new gameplay with hints of old school. I would have liked to see 1 gigantic world seperated into sections similar to super mario world. I don't like how you have to beat certain bosses as mini-mario to get to some of the worlds.  Overall I thought the big coin collecting was good and the level design was almost as good as it gets with Nintendo. I would still say that super mario world is still my fave 2d mario game though. NSMB definately wasn't the hardest mario game. For the hardest check out Super Mario Bros: The lost levels in the Mario All Stars compilation.

1. super mario world
2. super mario 3
3. super mario 2
4. new super mario bros
5. super mario land 2

Wiisports 2 needs to have:

Wii-Buck Hunting
Wii-Fencing
Wii-Jai Alai
Wii-Tron Discs
Wii-Lumberjack (log rolling, tree chopping, etc)
Wii-Rochambeau (see option 3 here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rochambeau)

dude you must play alot, those are awesome scores!  I haven't really gotten into any of them more than casual games except bowling. I love doing the bowling games and training. I got a 245 in a bowling game. I think in power throws my best is 650 or something.

I don't think anyone mentioned metroid prime. It's a really great game and if you run it in 480p it's one of the purdyest GCN games.  I didn't ever play MP: Echoes so i'm not sure how good that one is. I also really enjoyed Sphynx for GCN. It's kinda like Zelda. Not quite as fun or epic but definately an awesome platform action game.  Star Wars Rogue Squadron and the sequel are really good too.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:FPS programmers lazy?
« on: January 29, 2007, 04:34:22 AM »
I think one of the upcoming FPS' should try an alternate control sceme where you control the movement of the player with the stick on the nunchuck and use the wiimote strictly for aiming within the screen.  Remember Goldeneye? The analog stick was used to control all movement except for strafing and when you used the R (or L, it's been a long time) for precise aiming.  I think it would be a good option for players who don't like the "bounding box" control style.
