Night's character model in general is pretty lacking, particularly her face. But yeah, I don't expect the final version to look anything like that. Furthermore, I don't think the game will give Mario Galaxy a run for its money graphics-wise either.

No way. I find that an extremely misguided assumption. Publishers are going to try to make money any way they can. Zelda on Wii didn't have anything to do with that.

Oooh, NiGHTS.

The character, Nights, is supposed to be androgynous, but I just referred to Nights as a she because she looks more feminine.

The graphics aren't mind-blowing (beyond anything Dreamcast could pull off, so I disagree with Pittiboi there). They could stand to be better, but I think they get the job done.

Also, I always wanted Nights to be in Smash, but figured the character was too cult to be included. Now that she's in a new game, maybe Nintendo will consider her. Sonic is a shoe-in, but if another Sega character appears, I'd want Nights.

What? I meant, what are the risks of using a different font for PS3?

Maybe it's just me, but that didn't make a lick of sense. What risks?

3rd parties didn't support Gamecube because they didn't need to and it wasn't worth the effort or money to do so. Almost everything sold better on PS2 and Xbox. Instead of bothering with a Gamecube version, they could use those resources to support PS2/Xbox more and gain more profits that way. It just made sense not to support Gamecube.

I'd be more worried about a possible RE4 port if Umbrella Chronicles wasn't announced. Then, I'd think Capcom was just being Capcom again. UC was good enough for me. However, I won't say no to a reworked version of an amazing game (granted it plays well). Beats the hell out of the straight ports of RE titles on Gamecube.

Haha, Code Veronica on PS2 and RE2, RE3, and CV on GC say "Sup!"... =)

He was probably being sarcastic there.. (considering he should know that the original RE game is on nearly every platform known)

I considered using an emoticon, but opted against it because I thought the comment spoke for itself. Silly me, tricks are for kids....

With this rationale you could argue that Sony will continue to support the PS3 no matter how much of a failure it is but you can't argue that Sony will spend billions of dollars on R&D for the PS4 is the PS3 isn't successful.

Exactly. If not for complete and utter exhaustion, I would've posted something just like this (except much longer and with more grammatical errors) last night.

See the difference between Nintendo and every other console maker that has been dead last is that Nintendo is the only company smart enough to employ business model favors profitability. Spend less and make more. Sony can only make money on the Playstation brand if it's manhandling the competition. As a developer/publisher, Nintendo sales are consistently high and they spend considerably less money on development than other companies do. If it don't make dollars, it don't make sense, son.

If Sony doesn't start making some headway with PS3 in the next few years, I expect one of two things: either they go third party or they sell off their gaming assets. I'd lean more toward the latter. Still, that's if PS3 continues to sell as dismally as it has, which honestly, I don't believe will be the case. I think there will be a PS4, but Nintendo has leveled the playing field a bit. Coming off a strong 4-5 year cycle, I'm looking forward to seeing how Nintendo will fare with an HD-enabled Wii successor and how they can top that controller.

I utterly despise the combining of two names to create one terrible sounding name.

Where's the support? 3rd parties are still scrambling to find reasons to not support Wii.

3rd Party Rep: It's for... um, kids? Our titles don't attract younger audiences. There are only kids games on Wii.
Interviewer: What about Manhunt 2?
3rd Party Rep: Uh, f*ck you.

I don't know what you're talking about. Capcom is known to be extremely careful with their intellectual properties. They rarely port older titles onto new hardware, especially Resident Evil.

Anyway, it looks like Gamestop made a boo-boo. The page doesn't exist, but if you search "Resident Evil 4" you can see the Wii Version at the very bottom.

Here: RE4 Wii Version

I'd buy it again, granted they include all the extras from the PS2 version and add some more.

I don't know. F-Zero was developed by Sega under Nintendo's supervision. I might have played GX, but I don't remember though that's irrelevant considering I'm not much of a fan of the series. However, I've heard good things about the game. I have faith in Sega, especially if Nintendo is breathing down thier necks to get it done right.

And you never know, Super Smash Bros. Brawl could come out before this game which is scheduled for Christmas 2007.

I hope there is online play.

I never said those games weren't great games. Rather, I said I'm only interested in Cooking Mama. The doesn't actually suggest poor opinions of the rest of the lot.

Smash_Brother can like whatever the hell he damn well pleases, but subjectivity goes both ways. Not everyone is excited to try those titles the way he is. So the way I understand this so-called argument, Smash wants to try these games, other people don't. Everyone has an opinion and no one is "right" because opinions are subjective. Is that it? If so, f*ck this, I'm going to Target and getting my $24 games. Peace out.

Well, my point is, because of ONM's sheer crappiness, their world exclusive might not even be NiGHTS at all. I distinctly remember that Leon Kennedy silhouette...

And aren't ONM and Ngamer published under the same company?

I simply want to wait for some confirmation. These stupid little teasers mean nothing to me.

True, but I get the impression that you're lauding the Wii based on the release of these 7 games and none of them are really that big a deal. It's not so much that people are complaining about the lack of AAA titles. Rather, excitement over these titles seems unwarranted. I want to try Cooking Mama, but I wouldn't start a thread about it. I'm glad Wii is getting some releases. It's better than not getting them. However, that's as far as my prasie goes.

Hollywood Video's new game rentals generally arrive Friday afternoon and are recieved into the system and put out as soon as possible (at least in my district). So if a game is released on Tuesday or Wednesday and Hollywood gets them, they'll be there that Friday. It's a secret to everybody.

ONM is also known to be full of sh*t.

Look, I admit that the chances of the game (if this is real) being for Wii are higher than they are for competing platforms, but I won't celebrate until there's some concrete info. A picture of Nights playing an imaginary flute on the cover of a magazine that's printed in a language I don't speak or even vaguely understand doesn't actually mean anything to me. When I know the gaming is coming, I'll be the first to say, "Oooh, NiGHTS."

Still skeptical...

I'm curious as to why that cover doesn't specify a platform. If true, this might not even be Nintendo related at all (though chances are it would be).

The Wii line-up now is fantastic considering it's living on third party titles for the most part.

I don't think the quality of 3rd party offerings is that much better than it was on Gamecube during the same time period. There just happens to be more games released on Wii. I have to give Nintendo and the Wii credit though for consistently selling out almost everywhere (or is it actually everywhere on a global level?) despite a general lack of AAA titles. Still, that right there is nothing short of amazing.

Also, reviews are subjective. They're designed to give people an idea of what a game is like, but you really won't know until you try a game itself. I remember when EGM gave Castlevania on N64 7 and 8's.

General Gaming / RE:Devil May Cry 4 coming to the PS3, Xbox360 and PC!

Those big games have to start somewhere. How did Joe Casual know Resident Evil was a winner? Or Halo? Or Zelda?

I find it funny that these PS3 fans are petitioning to boycott Capcom games... you know, because poor sales of Devil May Cry 4 on PS3 will surely encourage Capcom to devote more resources toward PS2 development.

And I think the whole PS3/360 port thing could potentially be very good for Nintendo. They might not get the ports, but they have an opportunity here to score some exclusives. Wii seems to be more popular by the day and development costs are a fraction of what they are on competing platforms. Nintendo couldn't ask to be in a better position. The question is: can they capitalize? They really need to start making deals and forging alliances with 3rd parties.

I wouldn't call that a flood of titles... I guess, maybe for a Nintendo console. Out of those 7 games, the only one I have any interest in trying is Cooking Mama... Hey, shut up. My mom says I'm cool.......

Since my brother and I have finally beaten Wii Play Tanks, the Wii will likely begin gathering dust until Winter. In the meantime, I plan on buying a PS2 soon to catch up on all the fancy titles I missed. And there's that HUGE Target sale for DS games. I'll probably buy Mario Kart DS and Final Fantasy III tomorrow. $24 for each game plus 10% employee discount (second job because I wanted more hours) = win. In your face, MSRP.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Wii to feature same online structure as the DS
« on: March 25, 2007, 07:48:42 AM »
The rift between Nintendo and its fans regarding online gaming essentially boils down to Nintendo announcing a free structure and fans basically assuming that it would be as robust as Xbox Live Gold without that super-appalling $49.99 per year price of admission. Friend codes just made it harder to swallow because of the sheer inept nature of the friend code system. Had Nintendo nixed friend codes and offered a subscription perhaps simpler than Xbox Live Gold for a fraction of the price, I think people would be more willing to accept it even if they had to pay a small sum. Some people would b*tch because that's what people do, but hey, you can't please everyone. You just have to try to please as many people as possible.

Stell, take a deep breath and count to ten.

Yes, Nintendo tells people with inserts and whatnot. My suggestion was to stick it right into the console itself so the consumer is forced to actually look at it at least once. Sure, most people will peel it off and ignore it, but it's still another means for Nintendo to protect itself.

And I acknowledge that people don't want to take respsonsibility for their own actions and that's the whole point. As I said before, friend codes or not, people will sue Nintendo regardless just because it's easier to point fingers than admit to being a negligent parent. The question then arises: If lawsuits are unavoidable, why willingly choose a backwards ass online structure that annoys the majority of consumers who will not sue you?

I'd be more inclined to accept friend codes as an acceptable system if it actually proved to be safer for children. If parents aren't monitoring what their children and allowing them to do whatever they damn well please, then the friend code system just got subverted at the lowest level. Are friend codes safer? I think the verdict is out on that one.

But you know, I'll deal. I'm not going to boycott friend codes and miss out on any number of sweet ass online Wii games (though in the back of my mind, I'll always think that they're limited by Nintendo's poor choices).

I like Smash_Brother's idea. I think that's pretty reasonable.

I'm fully aware that the world is full of stupid people.

Look, I'm not saying that the MAC ID is the perfect solution. BUT, it is one possible solution. It's there, it exists and Nintendo should flat-out tell people about it.

The main problem with the friend code system is that the Wii number makes it pointless. I already added people I trust, so why do I need to do it again? I don't need to validate that I know so-and-so more than once. The way I see it, friend codes only protect buyers of used consoles (since friend codes are created when a specific copy of a game is inserted into a specific console) which is ultimately beyond Nintendo's control. It's not really Nintendo's problem. People might try to make it their problem. If some jackass wants to sue Nintendo for emotion distress, murder, rape, domestic violence, whatever... because friend codes weren't safe enough or some other BS reason, that jackass will sue Nintendo. Simple as that. Nothing will stop the lawsuits from happening. No one wants to take responsibility for their own stupidity so they try to displace the blame.

Friend codes aren't idiot proof. I'm not convinced they are really that much safer, at least not enough to warrant the inconvenience. I'd bet that most parents don't know who their kids are exchanging friend codes with. They only get bent out of shape when sh*t goes down. Unfortunately, friend codes won't stop morons from taking the blame off themselves and pointing their fingers at Nintendo.

I mean, damn. Go into Gamestop - ask the clerks there if THEY know what a MAC ID is. Then look at all the used games - how do all these f*ckers lose the instructions AND THE INSERT for games where ALL OF THAT IS KEPT IN A PLASTIC DVD CASE?

I don't know if you're referring to the Gamestop clerks or the previous owners of the games, but when I used to trade games to Gamestop, I'd take out the instructions and inserts so Gamestop couldn't sell them as new games. My games were in perfect condition and I knew for a fact that Gamestop not only opens their new games, but sells used games as new. Then again, we all know Gamestop is an asinine company.
