Not saying it is okay just don't let a section of people dictate an entire country.
I didn’t. I specifically called out Raptors fans for cheering Durant’s injury. I mentioned Leonard getting a free pass for life in Canada because this is not just Toronto’s first NBA title, it’s the entire country’s. Granted, the Grizzlies fucked off out of Canada almost 20 years ago...
About that.

There's video of Ujiri as he walks out of the tunnel into the court with his credentials in hand. This entire episode is embarrassing.
Keep being great, America.

Just saw some of the discussion here about TG-16 Mini. (Not all of which is so dismissive.)
I feel like this is at least partially addressed to me so please allow me to retort:

1. Konami hyped a “special announcement” at E3. Was it worth the hype? I would argue no, it wasn’t.

2. PC Engine was only really successful in Japan so it’s weird that Konami would announce this thing in North America. Admittedly, E3 is one of, if not the industry’s largest convention. Making such an announcement would make sense for almost any product other than a retro console.

3. Konami didn't announce a price, release date, or even how many games will be on this thing. There isn’t enough to get excited about. Let me know when Castlevania: Rondo of Blood is officially announced for TurboGraphx-16 Mini. To me, it just further illustrates how out of touch Konami is. Withholding so many details makes me think this thing is going to be hella expensive. If it’s more than $80, GTFO. Nintendo and Sega set the bar. Super Nintendo Classic Edition has the better selection; Sega Genesis Mini has incredible value.

4. TurboGraphx-16 Mini is strangely huge for what it is. PC-Engine Mini and PC Engine Core Graphx Mini seem appropriately sized.

5. Konami announced a multiplayer adapter. What? This thing has a peripheral other than a controller?! Does Konami not understand the purpose of these officially sanctioned mini-throwback consoles? How many people would even care if game X or Y (or basically just Bomberman) didn’t fully support five players? It’s nice and all until the realization sets in that Konami probably just wants to sell an extra (albeit optional) thing to people. If it really wanted to support five-players, just put five USB ports on the unit itself. Those things are cheap and at least it wouldn’t play off as trying to nickel and dime consumers. Again, it illustrates how out of touch Konami is. I refuse to give this company the benefit of the doubt because...

6. There aren’t many video game companies that have done more in the past decade to destroy their own goodwill than Konami. It hasn’t given me a good reason not to be dismissive.

I was dying last night so I didn’t watch the game. I’ll watch highlights or something.

I missed most of the discussion here so here are some thoughts:

1. I don’t think any team would have beaten the Warriors at full strength. However, I’m not fond of the excuse that if player X or Y were available/healthy, team Z would have won. It’s such a silly hypothetical. The Raptors capitalized on a favorable situation and won a series they had every right to win.

2. I believe Kawhi Leonard leaves the Raptors. He should get a free pass in Canada for life so when he returns as an opponent, he shouldn’t get booed. Then again, Raptors fans cheered when Kevin Durant went down so 🤷‍♀️

3. I’m a little disappointed that DeMarcus Cousins didn’t get his championship ring this year. Even Nick Young got one last year. Cousins had no business playing in this series with an exploded quad. He wasn’t great, but he toughed it out even though I’m on the side that people generally shouldn’t play injured. For these guys, ball is life so unless management or the coaching staff refuses to let them on the court, they’re going to want to play.

4. I read on Bleacher Report the Lakers are apparently the betting favorites to win the title next year. You guys know I’m a Lakers fan so believe me when I say the following reaction is genuine:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA GTFO

The Lakers would need to trade for Anthony Davis, somehow keep either Brandon Ingram or Lonzo Ball, AND sign Kawhi Leonard, and even then, maybe.

5. The Warriors should offer Kevin Durant the five-year max. I don’t think he should take it. Some team will offer him the four-year max. Either take that this summer, or opt into the second year of his current deal, rehab on The Warriors dime, then **** off next summer because some team will offer him the max because torn Achilles or not, he’s still Kevin Durant.

6. Klay Thompson better be offered the max. *shakes fist in Oakland’s San Francisco’s direction*

7. If Draymond Green stays in shape and doesn’t have to lose 25 lbs in a month (which super unhealthy, don’t do that) to be effective in May, he should be offered the max.

8. Masai Ujiri struck a cop. Yikes. In almost any other situation in this asinine country, a black man hitting cop has a high chance of ending with a dead black man. An unfortunate situation. Ultimately, Ujiri probably doesn’t get charged with anything, but that could have gotten much uglier.

TalkBack / Re: Contra: Rogue Corps (Switch) Preview
« on: June 13, 2019, 12:08:32 AM »
It’s completely reasonable for someone to want more of something instead of the same thing except harder. It’s also completely reasonable for a developer to create a game to be as long as it needs to be for artistic, narrative, and/or logistical reasons. Striking a balance between the two is something only certain games and developers pull off.

Anyway, I was willing to give Contra: Rogue Corps a chance. Contra 4 is the my favorite followed by Contra III: The Alien Wars, and I had my fun with the PS2 era Contra games including Neo Contra which futzes with the camera. However, just about everything ejamer said above makes me not-today-back-away-disco-lady from Contra: Rogue Corps.

My friend wants to buy my Switch for Pokémon. I said I’d sell it to him if Nintendo releases an updated version. Everything appears to be going according to plan.

Are there any games you actually want to play?

I pre-ordered a Neo Geo Mini for the same reason you mentioned before a cooler head prevailed and I realized, “I give zero fucks about any of these games, and I’m not spending $100 on this.” Alternatively, while I own most of the games on the Super Nintendo Classic Edition, it was the most convenient way to play those games for me.

[So hopefully whoever is in charge of this thing at Konami realizes and tries to focus on getting the best games available on all the systems and not limit the TurboGrafx mini to what was released in the West because that will greatly limit most of its potential library.
Konami gonna Konami so I wouldn’t bet on it.

I Am Mother

Mother = Skynet with a plan after “kill all humans”

It was a perfectly okay suspense/thriller. Good performances from the small cast. Rose Byrne voices Mother. I’ll pretty much watch anything she’s in even though she’s been in some not great movies. A little pretentious with the characters only referring to each other as Mother, Daughter etc. It made the dialog feel unnatural. Felt like the writers were just really attached to not naming the characters. The ending didn’t work for me. I don’t see how Daughter intends to do what she says she’s going to do, or why Mother agrees to it.

1. I don’t know how I’ve been missing these Devolver Digital Big Fancy Press Conference dealie the last couple years.

2. I’m straight up disappointed that “Catsylvania” is a Devolver Bootleg game. I’ve been using that as my online handle for like eight years. It’s like if I was one of the Beastie Boys and some fucking teenager has been using my stage name on Nintendo forums since 2001.

I completely missed that part because I just skipped the Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games trailer.

I went back and watched it and noticed Sonic is surfing with shoes and socks on which gave me anxiety because wet socks are my worst enemy.

Konami just announced a TurboGrafx-16 Mini.

LOL

So I just found out that Drake has a $750,000 watch that can display, among other things, "I lust to devour your pussy." That's in my brain now so I want the Warriors to win this series because I don't want Drake to be happy. Ever.

I don't care how good 0 to 100 is.

I felt there was some excellent stuff in the game that was unfortunately drowned in annoyances.
- I didn't like the story (what there was of it), but that could have been negated if they nailed the ending.  To me the ending just fell completely flat.  The ending of TP is my favourite ending of any game I've played.
- Cooking got old in a screaming hurry
- Weapon degradation was too severe.
- There needed to be heaps of QOL improvements in the UI.
That’s fair. The story was generally pretty terrible and Zelda’s annoying voice didn’t help the delivery (Zelda’s French voice actress is so good though). I don’t think there was any way to land the ending especially with the villain being a mindless Ganon with no personality. Still, I find the plots of most Zelda games to be largely forgettable if not completely horrible.

I didn’t cook much so I didn’t mind. Weapon degradation is too severe though I understand that it’s supposed to force players to try all of them and to keep exploring to find new ones. Would you mind going a little more in depth regarding the quality of life improvements in the user interface? I didn’t mind the UI.

I remember with the first Mario Maker that originally all the items were unlocked over a few days.  This did not go over well as people wanted to have access to everything for their levels right away and Nintendo quickly had a day-one patch (maybe day two) that delivered all the items right away.  So I guess it is fitting that Mario Maker 2 would also have a day-one patch to fix a WTF design decision.
The nine-day wait to unlock all items was at least defensible. It was meant to encourage players to learn how to use the items they have before throwing a bunch of **** into stages because level design is really m-f-ing hard. I get why everyone wanted everything immediately, but I also get why Nintendo was initially gatekeeping items.

The inability to play online with your own friends especially when you’re now paying for Nintendo’s online service does not make any sense and is not defensible by any measure.

That dragon's kind of ugly, not sure I can get past that...
But he has such a great personality.

I’m no scientician. However, my understanding is that the injuries can be related. If Durant’s calf was still not 100%, playing on it would cause more strain on other parts of his body such as the Achilles. Like they’re compensating for a weaker body part and doing more than they were meant to do thus further injury. Additionally, I’ve read that Achilles injuries can be kooky. You could step off the curb, feeling perfectly fine, then boom, your Achilles explodes.

See you mofos in August then...

Probably? I feel like Nintendo would have shown others if there were any.

I’m hoping for female and/or villains for the remaining DLC characters. Give me Jill Valentine and I’ll just stop playing other games entirely.

It’s so weird that this is even had to be announced instead of something that was just in the game to begin with. Nintendo gonna Nintendo.

I guess because Nintendo is in the middle of its own generation while Sony and Microsoft are gearing up for new hardware. I wonder how Nintendo approaches hardware from now on. Iwata mentioned iOS/Android way back when. Will  each new hardware be iterative like yearly phone updates? Or will there be a straight up successor (likely backwards compatible)? In a couple years, we may get the reverse with Sony and Microsoft having amazing showings and Nintendo with that one Kirby game marking the end of life for Switch while everything else is held back for new hardware.

So, like, not one of the alts is female. Dragon Quest IV lets you choose between Solo (male) and Sophia (female), and Nintendo chose Solo. /sadhorn

Just wanted to point this out:

Even though each player in handheld mode has their own screen, Capcom opted for split screen. But why though?

I presume Revelations 1 and 2 on Switch were like this.

Wasn't that just an exercise for the team to start thinking outside of the box as they worked to reinvent the series? I didn’t get the impression Eiji Aonuma and co ever really considered that.
