Um... it's really not that difficult at all.

1. Turn on all Wii Remotes and connect them to Nunchucks.
2. Boot up de Blob, then on the main menu, select 'Blob Party'.
3. Choose the number of players participating, the game mode and the stage.
4. You are now playing a multiplayer match. Congratulations.

1227
Yeah, there are a total of five online WiiWare games. Other than the four already mentioned so far, there's Snowboard Riot.

I nominate Bomberman Blast too, in that case. 8 player free-for-alls in Revenge mode would be absolutely immense.

First review for Deadly Creatures... an 8.0 from IGN.

http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/950/950897p1.html

Good visual presentation, good music & voice acting and good gameplay mechanics - apart from a couple of technical problems, this sounds like another quality addition to the gnarly month of February 2009.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: If we can't have Tatsunoko vs. Capcom...
« on: January 03, 2009, 05:19:16 PM »
Yeah, Capcom keeps affirming that Tatsunoko vs. Capcom will arrive one way or another.

I still believe that Capcom will face a major hurdle with the licensing issues. In Japan, Tatsunoko owns Tatsunoko, meaning that Capcom only has to pay a minimal fee for all the characters included. In American, however, the characters are owned by various companies. Not only that, many characters have yet to be licensed in the states.

So I think that if we DO get Tatsunoko vs. Capcom I see some Tatsunoko characters being dropped out, but more Capcom characters will be added in order to compensate the loss.

That sounds fairly likely. Personally, I wouldn't mind if that turned out to be the case; the Capcom half of the roster had one too many obscure Japanese characters. Even if the licensing issues were sorted out, gamers in the western hemisphere probably won't find a fighting game full of characters they haven't heard of very appealing.

Here's my (unlikely) wish list for additional charcters for Tatsunoko Vs Capcom: Cross Generation Of Heroes...

  • Jill Valentine (Resident Evil 1, 3)
  • Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil 2, 4)
  • Okami Amaterasu (Okami)
  • Dante (Devil May Cry)
  • Bo (Breath of Fire)
  • Zack [with Wiki assisting in some special moves and hyper combos] (Zack & Wiki: Quest For Barbaros' Treasure)

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Let's Tap
« on: December 04, 2008, 01:03:06 PM »
Latest video for Let's Tap! is now up. It's a six minute extended trailer showing off five game modes in detail.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/43364.html

So, information gathered from that...

Game Mode #1: Tap Runner
The mode we have been watching so much of in the previous videos. Tap Runner is a racing mini-game where the goal is obviously to reach the finish. There are many different kinds of obstacles in each race that require different rhythms of tapping to overcome. These include hurdles, swinging wires, giant balloons and tightropes. The game supports up the four players on a single screen; if racers start to get far apart, the camera zooms out to compensate but also gives a hologram of the stickperson so you can see their progress more easily.

Game Mode #2: Rhythm Tap
This is a music-based game where, as the name suggests, you must tap to the beat of the song. There are 20 tracks in total on offer and from what we have heard so far, the soundtrack of this whole game will be very funky and catchy. Not only is good timing needed, but also you have to be able to tap with the right amount of force. Blue circles want light tips, green circles mean medium taps and orange circles ask for hard taps. Again, it has four player multiplayer, with each player tapping out different notes in the song.

Game Mode #3: Silent Blocks
Silent Blocks is the more puzzle-oriented game of the selection. A key sits at the top of a tall tower of precarious blocks. Using careful tapping, you choose which block you want to get rid of and then remove it with care. The aim to acquire the key, but you also want to get high scores by stringing together colour combos, or 'Alchemy' as it is called. Four players can compete in this game in a race to collect the key from their tower peak first.

Game Mode#4: Bubble Voyager
In this game, you take control of the Bubble Voyager, who's mission it to complete the levels by avoiding debris and enemies. Tapping will boost you upwards and you may also give more vicious taps to fire missiles. Points are gained for taking as little damage as possible and making a good landing at the end of a stage. The multiplayer portion of this game is quite different - it is a free-for-all battle royale where each player has a Bubble Voyager and has to destory their opponents with rockets.

Game Mode #5: Visualizer
With this mode, there are several sub-modes in which the player taps in various ways to create aesthetic things on screen. Visualizer contains an art canvas, an aquarium, a colourful minigame with marbles and a fireworks show creator.

It's out in Japan on the 18th of December. I'm extremely tempted to import it right now.

This is what you must do in order to earn the town features:
A fountain built in town: Donate 500,000 Bells

A new bridge built in town: Donate 200,000 Bells

A windmill or a lighthouse built in town: Donate 1,000,000 Bells (there was a lighthouse in the original, but the windmill is brand new)

Oh, and remember how you wanted Nintendo characters to appear in AC? Well...technically...it can happen.

City Folk actually has brand new clothing items based on Nintendo characters, including Midna's Mask, the Varia Suit (Metroid) and even Majora's Mask. You earn them by saving up points with Nook.

It seems Nook's points are actually worth something in City Folk...

EDIT: Oh yeah, one new addition is that you can now design the front AND the back of your shirt.

Better than that, as a matter of fact. You can design the front, the back AND both sleeves. In other words, there are four separate designs for each Pro t-shirt you make at the Able Sisters.

Also, about the other new feature that offers Nintendo-themed items for saving Tom Nook's points... here's the full list of them:

500 points - Banana (Mario Kart)
800 points - Triple Shells (Mario Kart)
1,000 points - Yoshi's Egg
2,500 points - Bad Bro 'stache (Wario)
3,000 points - Toad Hat
4,000 points - Peach's Parasol
5,000 points - Hero's Clothes, Varia Suit or Wario Hat
6,000 points - Hero's Cap, Samus' Helmet, or Majora's Mask
6,500 points - Midna's Mask (Twilight Princess)
10,000 points - Kart (Mario Kart)

I'm totally saving up for the Samus Aran outfit.

I love the music!

You are aware that the music is from the Lord of the Rings films, right? The creator of the video just edited that in to drown out the noise of the show floor.

This game is like a triple-patty win burger with a huge dollop of awesome sauce.

I'm really looking forward to the 100+ levels. And the four person multiplayer mode. And the advanced stage builder. And the... well, you get the idea.

Nice. I suppose subtle differences are often the best way to enhance a winning formula. Tempting, but I've got a couple more questions before I cash in:

According to the official info page, this WiiWare version has vastly improved physics. Is this feature noticeable and if so, how is this implemented into the core gamplay?

What is DYC like in terms of audio? Has music been added to play during the levels and if so, what is your opinion on the soundtrack? Also, the enemy sound effects... what do you think of them?

http://www.xgenstudios.com/game.php?keyword=castle

Is there a reason to justify buying the WiiWare version of DYC when you can play it free on XGen's website?

Funky visual style. Check.
Four player multiplayer. Check...

Anything else new? Not that I can tell. Now, I'm aware that 500 Points is very cheap, but it's still more than 0 points. Judging from the screenshots and trailer, it's basically the same point-and-click gameplay with identical upgrades in between.

Of course, I may be missing something. You've purchased the game, Kairon, so tell me; why should I buy?

1242
Now, this is the part where speculation has to inevitably enter the equation. Do I KNOW that Miyamoto is miffed that Snake is breaking the necks of his characters in households all over the world?

Oh please, not this again. I figured you would stop beating that dead horse after the last failure of a thread you made. I cannot stress this enough: the gameplay in SSBB is considered to be Cartoon Violence because attacks are portrayed in a unrealistic and often comedic fashion. This here is no different:
Firstly, the move Snake performs isn't even a neck snap. Secondly, it all happens extremely fast (the clip you showed earlier was slowed down to about a fifth of the actual speed. Lastly, the character will be straight back on his feet - not dissimilar to many other fighting games.

As for Snake and the attention he garnered, do you really think Nintendo was even the least bit concerned for the sales of SSBB? Besides, I'm sure what attention Snake grabbed was a whisper on the scream of the attention Sonic garnered.

You are missing the point here. Of course they were never worried about Brawl's sales? But Nintendo are a trans-national corporation; they can never sell too much. They want as many consumers for their product as possible, so it makes perfect sense to have lots of different selling points.

1243
And Wario was taken out early on in the SSE... *gasp* does this mean Sakurai was making a dig at Yokoi? Does Sakurai's villainy know no bounds!?

I presume you're being sarcastic... again, I feel Pit and Samus (Yokoi's creations) got their fair share of the limelight. As for Mr Game & Watch, he had a minor appearance, but he's already awesome, so that's okay.

@ Adrock: Oh no, a mistake! Maybe I am human. Small error aside, the general point stands.
By the way, you spelt 'facts' wrong. :P

1244
Sakurai was sick of sequels and it's not much of a stretch to suggest that he was sick of being in Miyamoto's shadow, either. Miyamoto is internationally revered while Sakurai's name is known mostly to angry SSB fans. All of his characters were the heroes whereas Miyamoto's didn't do a whole lot during the SSE.

Firstly, a lot of people have been in Shigeru Miyamoto's shadow. It's nothing to be ashamed of; he has arguably the greatest imagination this industry has ever seen. Rather than showing resentment, developers would be excited to work with such a creative inspiration. I cannot think of any good reasons for Mashiro Sakurai to be jealous on the scale that you appear to be implying.

Secondly, I disagree with your last statement - if you remember to include all of Miyamoto's creations who are involved (Mario franchise including Kongs and Yoshi, plus the Zelda franchise and the Star Fox franchise + the Ice Climbers and Captains Falcon & Olimar), I think you'll find that his heroes "did a whole lot" more than the Kirby characters.

1245
In Sakurai's defence, I believe the involvement of the characters in the SSE reflects on their personalities and behaviours that they have always had in their respective franchises.

(Beware: I'm about to go into deep analysis...)

Mario: For the most part, Mario is in the thick of the action, doing what he does best: rescuing the damsel in distress that is Princess Peach. Sure, he has a rough start, but his adventures often begin with difficulties. As I recall, early on in Super Mario Galaxy (a game made by Nintendo themselves), Mario is similarly blasted off the planet.

Peach: What can I say? Peach has alway been on the wrong end of the metaphorical gun, so her involvement is historically correct: she gets kidnapped and you gotta go save her. For it to be any other way would just be silly.

Luigi: He started off in Mario's shadow and chances are that it's going to stay like that. Luigi is the definition of the second player, which is why he fails to live up to the standards his brother (the first player). This remains true in Smash Bros.

Bowser: As an enemy, Bowser is more of a "stay back and watch" kind of guy. He tends to keep out of the action and let his minions do his evil bidding for him - this strategy is retained in his plan to lure DK and Diddy. And the incident near the end... well, Bowser is certainly more evil than Dedede, so it's understandable that he isn't so quick to switch sides.

Yoshi: This little dinosaur is a helper by nature. Even in the games that he was the main star of, Yoshi was more of an assistant (he has reunited the babies twice, even though they have nothing to do with him). Just like in Yoshi's Island, he tags along with the others during the SSE, helping out when required.

Wario: Not evil - just greedy. Wario is forever looking out for treasure, hence his enthusiasm to begin with. However, he is beaten by Dedede simply because he has little going on in the brains department.

Perhaps you lot should lay off the conspiracy theories.

1246
Super Mario Bros (NES)
Ice Climbers (NES)
Legend Of Zelda (NES)
Kid Icarus (NES)
Kirby's Adventure (NES)
Super Metroid (SNES)
Lylat Wars (N64)

Those are the demos shown on the US Dojo. However, the Japanese site has two more titles listed:

Fire Emblem (SNES)
Mother 2 (SNES)

Hopefully, the content will be the same in both versions of the game.

WARNING! INFORMATION APPROACHING!

* Snakes's Landmine attack is REMOTE, not PROXIMITY. (This refers to his down smash that shows him burying a mine - it will not blow up when walked over; the player must activate the explosion themselves).
* New FE Music: "The Kingdom of Bern".
* Regigigas, Metagross, Onix and Garchomp are Poke Ball Pokemon. Metagross uses Earthquake, Onix does the same move from Smash 64, and Regigigas uses Crush Grip.
* Kirby is more powerful this time around, as we have mentioned previously. His Final Smash does around 35% damage.
* Wario is powerful, but has a lot of start-up lag.
* Pegasus Knight from the Fire Emblem series as an AT.
* Zelda's Din's Fire has been nerfed a bit.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:50-70 hr quest too long?
« on: November 07, 2006, 06:56:09 AM »
A lot of people seem to be complaining that they do not have enough time for a 50 hour game. But why?

Is it compulsory for some people to have completed a game within a month? The game isn't going to go anywhere. Spread out your game hours and take your time playing through the game. You should find it a good thing that a game lasts longer as it creates a better gaming experience.
