IGN's got a review for Protöthea up.  They describe it as dull and unpolished, and gave it a 5.4.

They also call it a challenging, hardcore shooter.  Good luck, Kairon!

I can understand the appeal of a shmup that doesn't completely kick your ass off if you're not great at the genre, but a dull game with a managable difficulty level doesn't seem much more worth playing to me than a good game that's too hard. :/

I d'know, is that its problem?  I don't know what the differences in trends between eastern and western shmups are.

I do, but that's exagerated in the pic because it was a very large piece of fruit.

Speaking of tiny hands, I thought that Burger King comercial with the guy holding a burger for another guy with tiny hands was cute.

If you want to get picky accelerometers have been used before, too. It is revolutionary as part of the primary controller of a game console.
I don't.  Using a mouse for gaming has been prevalent for many years.  Accelerometers haven't.

Funny you should say that; I had a dream today that was very close to what I think you're implying.

But no, it really was a banana I was refering to before.  I even took a picture of it because big, phallic produce is always good for a laugh, rite?

Protöthea looks like it has the slow pace of R-Type minus all the stuff that makes R-Type actually interesting.  But we'll see what the reviews say.

The pointer is the big control revolution of the Wii, at least for traditional games.
Lol mouse controls aren't revolutionary.

in the case of Metroid, regarding waggle, can you sit there with a straight face and say using motion controls for the grapple beam wasn't awesome?
It would've been nice if the "pull" gesture had actually worked consistently.

I'm tired of Painkiller being compared to Doom.  Painkiller's level design is much more mindless than Doom's.  Doom actually has an element of exploration within each level, whereas Painkiller is just arena fight after arena fight strung together completely linearly.

On the subject of Doom, Doom 64 succeeds where Doom 3 failed, imo (much more scary while also being more faithful to the original games).  Some fans made a PC version of it, but I haven't tried it so I don't know how well it recreates the console version.

I never said PC games were exactly the same as console games, but PC gamers aren't all obsessive nor do all PC games require a great deal of commitment to get into.

While PC gamers seem to have a habbit of condescending to console gamers, your perceptions of PC gaming seem pretty off to me.

I really wish PC gamers and console gamers would get over their differences already. :/

I don't think so.  Wouldn't that imply that it being disturbing was a lie?  Because it was disturbing.  But not as disturbing as the one where a guy was trying to rape me and I attacked one of his eyes with a screwdriver.

Kinda.  I would call it more refined, but it's definitely at least more accessible.  There's no experience like in Zelda II; you buy new weapons/armor, or sometimes find it in dungeons.

Also, it's a lot cuter than Zelda II.
