Finally, some new Smash Bros info.  The wait these last 6 months has been driving me crazy.

But now for what I expect, I think we'll probobly just see more of the returning characters right now.  People have to remember that the game won't be out until at least the fall, and so why reveal new characters now.  Revealing new characters is what causes more hype for the game and if they show them now then it would be a waste.

I predict Nintendo wont reveal any completly new characters until at least 2 months before the game is released.  I'd imagine that would be the perfect way to increase hype through the roof right before it's released.

Well if Nintendo had released the SNES version of Wario Woods first, then what reason would people have had to get the NES version when it came out?  It's the same reason Super Mario All-Stars will never be released until at least 2010.  Because if they were to release it right now, most people would download that game and not bother downloading all the NES Mario games seperately.

The whole point of the Virtual Console is for Nintendo and friends to make as much cheap and easy money as possible.  And in cases where you have and inferior and superior version, the inferior version will ALWAYS come first because they know there will be people that will buy it if it's out and will then buy the superior version when it comes out later.  This way companies get two sales because releasing the best version first would have only gotten them one.

It the same reason why most DVD movies are released first in a crappy 1 disc bare bones set, and then months later they release the big 4 disc box set with all the things people actually want to see.  Because movie studio's know people will buy the bare bones packet first and then buy the real deal later on.

From what I heard, Golden Week started on April 26th.  That's why Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings and Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree were both released on that day.

It was released on the Sega Mega Drive (Genensis) back in 1994.  Here's a review of it

Too bad the game is Japan only with quite a bit of Japanese text because I can see this game actually coming to the Japanese Virtual Console some day, since it was made by Treasure and Published by Sega.  Of course we can always hope Sega would release it to the rest of the world anyway since Hudson recently released Lode Runner which was used to be Japan only and Nintendo is planning on releasing the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros 2 for the NES which used to be Japan only as well.

Of course Lode Runner and SMB2 Japan were already in complete english while Yu Yu Hakusho is full of Japanese so that hurts it's chances of a world release quite a bit.

And like I said, it was terrible.

It wasn't the bad.  Also the Fox Box and 4Kids TV took the same spot but they were different.  It took a while for some of the Fox Box stuff to get to 4Kids TV, different companies, but also 4Kids got them Yu-Gi-Oh, for what its worth, and they are they ones who bring over Pokemon so I don't know how that will pan out...

The English version of F-Zero was terrible because it was done by 4Kids, who's the worst dubbing company around.

Now the original Japanese version on the other hand was great for this scene alone, FALCON PUNCH!!!

Now as a Smash Bros fan you can't tell me that that wasn't awesome.

From what I've seen from people that have gone on Japanese Fire Emblem boards, FE6 is generally the most hated among fans over there.  But it really doesn't matter which one is worse since the GBA Fire Emblems were ALL unpopular among the Japanese fans because they were considered downgrades to all the improvements made by FE4 and FE5.

That's why FE9 and FE10 are well liked by the Japanese fans because they finally brought back what FE4 and FE5 had.

Actually that's not true anymore which brings me up to who I say is going to be the Fire Emblem character that will replace Roy as the second character to represent Fire Emblem.

Fire Emblem Wii Spoilers

Ike returns halfway through the game and becomes the main character for the second half.  This makes him the only other Fire Emblem character besides Marth to be the star of 2 games, which is huge.  And since Ike is already known by the rest of the world and was the star of the two most recent Fire Emblem, I say he's in 100%

Plus from what I've heard the Japanese Fire Emblem fanbase also loves Ike since his Fire Emblem's have returned the series to how it was in FE4 and FE5, which are they're favorites.  So since he's also liked by the Japanese that makes him appearing even move obvious.

But Marth is more popular then Roy.  Marth was the star of the very first Fire Emblem and it's sequel Mystery of the Emblem, which is the highest selling Fire Emblem in Japan to this day.  Marth is the icon of the series in Japan, when people think of Fire Emblem, they think of Marth.  That's why Marth was put in the Melee first as the character to represent Fire Emblem while Roy was thrown in last minute as a way of advertising the upcoming Sword of Seals which was released in Japan 6 months later.

Plus Roy is the star of what alot of Japanese fans consider, the worst Fire Emblem.  Roy is not very popular in Japan because of that, and sense his game was never released outside of Japan, there's no reason for him to remain.

Even though Marth game was never released outside of Japan as well, the fact that he's loved by the Japanese, the icon of the series, and also loved by American's because of his popularity in Melee pretty much confirms he'll be back.

The answer is because Capcom is run by idiots who dont know how to run a business, plus they seem to have a fear of money.  Even though the DS has completly dominated over the PSP and is a system that is much cheaper to develop for they continue to give the PSP more support then the DS.

Sega and Capcom are the videogame equivalent to Dumb and Dumber, but with each company switching between the role of who's dumber every couple months.

Oh yeah, it's only a matter of time now before TMNT 3: The Manhatten Project and Turtles in Time appears.  Of course this also means Hyperstone Heist for the Genesis will proboby appear in the future as well which will be nice since I never got to play that one.

Actually for anyone that played it, how good was Hyperstone Heist?  Was it up to the quality of 3 and Time?

I'm sure those probobly are quite accurate since we know people are buying the Wii like crazy.  Now if everyone and their Grandma is getting a Wii, they're going to need games to play.  And after they're done with those games they're going to need more games to play after that.

Unless it's the PSP which people seem to be buying without any games.  I would include the PS3 in that statement as well, but no ones even buying that.

Well Sakurai has said they wont be putting in any Japan only characters in Brawl, so that answers that question.  But he did say since Marth and Roy became so popular to the rest of the world, that a Japan only Fire Emblem character might be in.

But I'm guessing by his comment he ment that they'll be leaving Marth in the game because of how popular he became around the world, while all other characters will have to be from games released outside of Japan.

And on the issue of when Brawl will be released, I'm guessing a November North American release date now.  From Kojima's comments it sounds like they got the actually gameplay down, with all the characters having complete movesets and any new mechanics to the gameplay done.  So right now all the characters we've seen so far are all 100% done.

My guess is what they're doing right now is trying to get the online to run as smoothly as possible, and adding in some last minute characters and stages.

3764
I'd imagine there'll be 2 vs 1 because it doesn't make any sense that they'd allow 1 on 1, 2 on 2 and 3 on 1, but no 2 on 1.

Well look here

Quote

Older titles continued to sell well through the quarter, including Rainbow Six Vegas with 1.7 million sold to date; Rayman and Red Steel, which have sold 830K and 950K respectively; and The Petz series of games which sold 3.5 million during the fiscal year.

Well that should answer everyone's question about third party sales.  Red Steel it set to hit the million mark anytime now and it looks like Rayman has a good chance of selling a million as well.  This goes to show that Third Parties can do very well on the Wii.

Now hopefully since Ubisoft knows their games can sell well on a Nintendo system they'll finally increase the quality.

Watch this video

- Total of 12 captains, eight of them are old with four new one
- Total of 8 sidekicks (The new ones are Boo, Shyguy, Drybones and Monty Mole)
- Total of 16 stadiums, nine of them are new
- Each stadium has unique events that happen during the match
- New single player modes include Road to the Striker Cup and Striker Challenges
- Each character has their own unique soundtracks
- Motion controls are only used for hitting and Mega Strikes

And here's what everyone's been waiting for, the Online play.

- Comprised of ranked and unranked matches
- There'll be a Season based leaderboard system that will be 3 months in length.
- You can do 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 online matches (2 vs 2 is two people on one Wii playing 2 people on another)
- Unranked matches can do 3 vs 1 (3 people on one Wii playing only 1 person on another)
- Unranked matches can be setup with special parameters
- Unranked matches are the only ones that us Friend Codes
- Ranked matches takes overal records into account and pairs similar players together
- Positive scoring system is in place where you recieve points for winning and the amount of goals you score.  You also gets points if you lose, just alot less then if you would have won)
- If you disconnect then you lose points
- Multiple leaderboards are in place, they are Season Leaderboard, Friends Leaderboard and Striker of the Day Leaderboard.
- Striker of the Day is where the player who gets the most rank points in one day will be featured on everyone who's playing Strikers Wii.  Plus it's updated by the minute so the leader should change often.

Wow, I never thought I'd be getting excited over a Soccer game.  The original never really got my attention but this one seems to have hit the spot.  Plus if this is what Stikers online has to offer, I can't wait to see what Smash Bros and Mario Kart's will end up like.

Body Harvest - Developed by DMA Design which is now Rockstar North.  I doubt Rockstar even cares about the Virtual Console so it's doubtful to ever appear.

Duke Nukem 64 - Duke Nukem Forever has a better chance of coming out before this game ever appears on the Virtual Console.

Gauntlet 64 - If Midway was to come on board then this game could have a good chance.  But like Rockstar, Midway probobly doesn't care to much about the Virtual Console either and so it's doubtful any of their games will appear in the near future.

New Tetris - Well it was published by Nintendo so it could appear.  But it was developed by H2O Entertainment so I wonder if Nintendo would have to work out any copyright issues with them.  Plus they'd also have to work out a deal with The Tetris Company who owns the License to all Tetris games.

The thing people have to remember is the reason Nintendo hasn't been releasing that many 64 games is because there hardly any 64 games for them to release.

Here's all the N64 games that Nintendo has left.

1080° Snowboarding
Donkey Kong 64
Dr. Mario 64
Excitebike 64
F-Zero X
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Mario Golf
Mario Party
Mario Party 2
Mario Party 3
Mario Tennis
Paper Mario
Pilotwings 64
Pokémon Puzzle League
Pokémon Snap
Pokémon Stadium
Pokémon Stadium 2
Sim City 64
Super Smash Bros.
Wave Race 64
Yoshi's Story

Oh and considering the third parties that have been supporting the Virtual Console so far, here are all the N64 games they could release.

Konami

Castlevania 64
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon
Rakuga Kids (Japan and Europe Only)
Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness
Goemon's Great Adventure
Hybrid Heaven

Capcom
Megaman Legen.... I mean Megaman 64
Resident Evil 2
Magical Tetris Challenge

Hudson

Bomberman 64
Bomberman Hero

Treasure

Mischief Makers
Sin and Punishment (If Nintendo would allow it to be released in the rest of the world)

Now I know I might be missing some title from these companies but it still doesn't chance the fact the N64 had a very small library and because of that there's going to be less games appearing on the Virtual Console.  And when the Virtual Console has to last for the next five years, expect there to only be an average of ONE N64 game per month.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Final Fantasy XIII on the Wii (Speculation)
« on: April 17, 2007, 02:00:17 PM »
Well considering how poorly the PS3 is doing in Japan and how the Wii is completly dominating, I'm sure there will be some kind of Final Fantasy XIII game appearing on the Wii.  Every Final Fantasy game since FFV has sold over 2 million copies in Japan and when you look at the fact that the PS3 hasn't even broke a million yet and will be lucky if it's even close to 2 million by the time FFXIII is ready, releasing a FFXIII game for the Wii is a MUST for Square-Enix if they hope to make any money.

And considering how the Wii is dominating in Japan, my guess is the Final Fantasy XIII game for the Wii will not just be a sidestory but be a huge part of the main Fabula Nova Crystallis universe story.  Since the Wii version will be would sells the most in Japan, I see it's game having a storyline just as important to the Fabula Nova Crystallis universe as the PS3 game.

It'll be like the PS3 game tells one half of the story while the Wii game then tells the other half.  But it's done in a way so that you dont need to play both games to get the overall story, but if you were to play both games then everything would make since.  Similar to the Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Seasons games.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Zelda DS: Phantom Hourglass
« on: April 13, 2007, 11:02:48 PM »
People have to remember that the Zelda series takes place in two different worlds because of Ocarina of Times ending.  This is what how the Zelda story's go in order.

Young Links World

Ocarina of Time > Majora’s Mask > Twilight Princess > Link to the Past > Links Awakening > Original > Links Adventure

Adult Links World

Ocarina of Time > Wind Waker > Phantom Hourglass

This is why they don't need Ganondorf and the Master Sword in this game because the Zelda's in Adult Link's timeline have no need for them anymore.  The Adult Link World is an all new storyline for Nintendo so they can do what ever they want with it, while Young Link's World is the same as the older Zelda's and so Nintendo has Ganondorf and the Master Sword in those to keep them connected.

And for those that are ready to attack me, the split timeline is OFFICAL people.  Aonuma himself has confirmed it.

That's why Link and Tetra are looking for a new land in this game so they can turn it into the New Hyrule because the old one is no more.

TalkBack / RE:Wii Shortage May 'Last for Some Time'
« on: April 11, 2007, 11:53:33 AM »
The Wii has sold around 2 million systems in Japan, which puts the Wii's total at 6.5 million worldwide.  Accourding to Media Create by the end of March the Wii had sold 1,960,000 units in Japan.  BlackNMild2k1 even posted the data in the Offical Wii Sales Data Topic earlier today.  Now VG Charts has the Wii selling 2.12 million systems in Japan to date and when you compare it to Media Creates Data, the facts point to the Wii selling over 2 million systems in Japan.

This means Nintendo has sold 6.5 million Wii's in only 5 months, which is really amazing.  And when you consider that according to most sales data, the X-Box 360 is only between 9.5 - 11 million wordwide, the Wii will easily surpass it's worldwide sales by the end of this summer.

Kairon@aol.com

But for the PS3 we dont need to give it time, as long as the thing cost $600 it'll remain a failure.  It doesn't matter if MGS4, FFXIII, DMC4 and all there other so called big name titles came out tomarrow, the insanely high price tage has killed the system.  The average person will NEVER pay over $500 for a videogame system.  Sony HAS to drop the price if they hope to even stay alive.

And the Wii will easily surpass the 360 in Europe by the end of the summer.  Here's how the systems are in Europe right now.

XBox - 3.26
Wii - 1.82

Nintendo is already over halfway there, and when they start increasing the shipments they'll catch up in no time.  Plus your forgeting that Nintendo does have a game that will be huge in Europe, MARIO STRIKERS: CHARGED FOOTBALL !!! which comes out on May 25th, only over a month from now.

The Gamecube version managed to sell 420,000 copies in Europe when it was released in the fall of 2005, which is huge when you consider that the Gamecube had been dead in Europe since 2004.  So if the Gamecube version was able to sell that much when it was dead, you can imagen how well the Wii version will sell when the Wii is extremly popular in Europe right now.

Also here's Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft's lineup's so far for the next few months in Europe.

Wii

04/13     Wing Island
04/27    Disney's Chicken Little
       Mercury Meltdown Revolution

       Forza Motorsport 2
       Forza Motorsport 2 (Limited Edition)
       Pirates of the Caribbean
06/28    Shrek the Third
06/29    The Darkness

PS3

04/20     F.E.A.R.
04/27    The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

05/04    Spider-Man 3

       Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom
05/10    Alone in the Dark
05/25    Pirates of the Caribbean
06/29    The Darkness

Yeah, I stand by my statement that Europe is looking pretty safe for Nintendo.

3775
And Sony losing streak continues.

UK Easter Week Sales

Wii - 25,000
PS3 - 17,000
Xbox 360 - 11,000

So the Wii which is still suffering from a shortage outsells the PS3 which is widely available in Europe since Sony never sold there entire shipment.  It's just like in America and Japan, everyone that wanted a PS3 bought one at launch and now Sony's left with nothing.  And when you consider how important Europe was for Sony last gen, this is the biggest blow possible.

Well I think we can now safely say Nintendo has taken Europe.  And with both Japan and Europe conquered, it looks like it's only a matter of time before America falls to the might of Nintendo's army of innovation as well.
