It's most likely WarioWare.

That is true since IS did most of the work for Smooth Moves because SPD1 was busy working on the first Rhythm Tengoku at the time.  So I could easily imagine IS making another Wii WarioWare since SPD has recently completed the new one for the DS.

The WarioWare games have become a way for Nintendo to show off their new technology and since we now have motion plus coming out, it seems like a good fit.  Of course I can easily see a balance board WarioWare game being announced since there's also a huge amount of potential in that as well.

Hmm when you think about it, we're bound to get something from Intelligent Systems shown at this E3.  Back in 2007 they released Super Paper Mario and Fire Emblem on the Wii both at the very beginning of the year in Japan.  Now the Fire Emblem part of them did the DS game last year so maybe we wont see anything from them, but the Paper Mario team hasn't released anything since Super Paper Mario which is over 2 years ago now.

I think it's safe to say there's a good chance another Paper Mario game of some kind might be showing up.  Whether it'll be Super Paper Mario 2, or regular Paper Mario 3 is anyone's guess right now.

The truth is that the SSE wasn't all that well received by fans and the media. Sure there are the fans that liked it but considering the hype there was for it many were disappointed.

Well of course, all games that have huge amount of hype for long periods of time like Brawl are bound to leave many disappointed.  A lot of people were disappointed in Twilight Princess, a lot of people were disappointed in Halo 3, a lot of people were disappointed in GTA4, not to mention I remember a lot of people disappointment in Metal Gear Solid 4 last summer as well.

The problem with these huge games is that when they're hyped up for so long like all the games I listed above were, people start to expect unrealistic expectations for them, so when the final game comes out it's impossible for the game to deliver.

Had Nintendo never revealed Brawl at E3 2006 and instead waited until E3 2007 as well as never had the Dojo which just added fuel to delusional fanboys fire, the overall reaction to Brawl would have been way more positive.  The same thing can also be said about Twilight Princess if it would have never been shown at E3 2004 and instead waited until 2005 or better yet, 2006.  Because during the first year of waiting, fans are still being realistic, but after the first year goes by, they start expecting more and more until it reaches a point where the game will need to have 100 characters or 30 different dungeons, just to please everyone.

Which actually brings this topic about E3 again.  I've seen a lot of people on the internet hyping up E3 this year because they think Zelda Wii will be revealed, which I think is rather foolish since it'll more then likely leave these people very disappointed.  If Zelda Wii isn't going to be coming out within the next year, don't expect it too be shown at this years E3.  After the sh!tstorm that Twilight Princess and Brawl caused, they're one of the main reasons Nintendo started their don't reveal games until they're almost done policy.  Unless Nintendo plans on having Zelda Wii ready for fall 2009 or spring 2010, it's not going to be shown.

So if Zelda Wii isn't at E3, the earliest we can expect it is a fall 2010 release which means it might be revealed at Nintendo October conference this fall since that will be within a year though.  Of course even then, it'd imagine GDC or E3 2010 would probably be most likely for it's earliest reveal.

My thoughts exactly Smash_Brother. I've never followed the Smash Brothers "fan" community so I don't know how many people have said what, but I have never wanted more single-player modes to be in a Smash Brothers game. Even what SSBMelee had was too much in my eyes.

The overwhelming majority of Smash Bros fans wanted a larger single player mode for Brawl.  Years before Brawl was even revealed, a larger Adventure mode was by far the most requested feature people wanted in the next Smash Bros.  This is why the night the SSE was revealed, the entire internet went crazy in a positive way over the news.

To say that the Smash Bros fanbase didn't want a larger adventure mode like the SSE is complete bullsh!t.  The huge majority wanted it, they cheered it when it was revealed, and they went crazy every time Sakurai revealed a new piece of info about it.  Not to mention, most of them were pleased with it in the end.  Yeah it didn't live up to the hype that many expected, but most people agree that it a nice mode that it quite fun when played Co-op with a friend.

Just because some of you guys despise it for whatever reason, doesn't mean everyone else did.  So don't be surprised when a larger more expanded version of it appears in the next Smash Bros because this is what most of the close to 9 million people and counting that bought Brawl are going to be expecting for the sequel.  Just like the majority of people who bought Melee, wanted for Brawl.

« on: May 17, 2009, 01:58:20 PM »
I wonder if Capcom was able to get the rights to all the Tatsunoko characters or if we'll be seeing some characters get replaced?  The article does mention that we might be seeing new characters.

Maybe right now one of the license holders here in America is being hard to deal with and if Capcom isn't able to work out a deal in the coming months, they'll just remove that character and replace them with another.

For me Donkey Kong has no identity right now so I'm not looking for a new Donkey Kong game.  I don't know what to look for.  To me just "hey look DK is in a game" isn't good enough.  When Rare had Donkey Kong there was some identity.  I had an idea of what to expect and figured I would like it.

Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat says hi.  Not only is it the best Donkey Kong game ever created, it's one of the best platformers ever created.  Which is no surprise considering it was done by Tokyo EAD right before they went on to do Mario Galaxy.

If Nintendo was to announce that Tokyo EAD is working on a new Donkey Kong, whether it's a 2d Jungle Beat sequel or a new 3d one, either way you can expect it to be high quality.

OK I'm sorry but DONKEY KONG, people, DONKEY KONG!!!

I've read every single post here and not one person even bothered to mention the idea of a Donkey Kong game.  Seriously, where has the love for the big ape gone?

Donkey Kong is still one of Nintendo's top series.  Contrary to belief, Jungle Beat sold pretty well, not to mention the GBA ports of the Country games were million sellers last gen.  Hell, the first Donkey Konga game on the Gamecube managed to sell a million copies worldwide based on the appeal of DK.

So in other words, there's a good chance Nintendo will announce a Donkey Kong game of some kind at E3.  Personally I'd love to either see a sequel to Jungle Beat, or an all new 3d Donkey Kong using the Mario Galaxy engine.  As long as Tokyo EAD is being either one, you know the end result will be amazing.

Well we now know the official character lineup.  Someone on Neo Gaf has gotten an early copy and has even posted pictures to prove it.

Circuit 1:

- Glass Joe
- Von Kaiser
- Disco Kid
- King Hippo

Circuit 2:

- Piston Hondo
- Bear Hugger
- Great Tiger
- Don Flamenco

Circuit 3:

- Aran Ryan
- Soda Popinski
- Bald Bull
- Super Macho Man

Final Fight:

- Mr. Sandman

And in case anyone is wondering why Mr. Sandman is the final boss, it looks like it's a tribute to the original Punch-Out arcade.  In the original arcade, Mr. Sandman was the final opponent you faced.  So it actually works quite well.

A lot of people will be eating crow once this game is released. It seems that Next Level Games has created a game so solid, so robust and so appealing to both older gamers and casual gamers that there really isn't anything to complain about. And those that do are merely complaining for the sake of it.

The thing that worry's me though is that some of the reviewers might be too stupid to play the hard mode or try the exhibition mode challenges and as a result will mark the game down for being too short and easy with no replay value, even though the game isn't.  Which as a result could end up misinforming a lot of gamers, who will then complain about the game, even though they haven't even played it.

Just like how I remember a lot of Wario Land Shake reviews said the game only had 20 levels and there was no replay value after beating it.  Which was a complete lie since there was 12 hidden levels to unlock after beating it, not to mention trying to collect all the treasures and trying to complete the stage missions in that game added a huge amount of replay value.

Looks like the first review has been released from the Official Nintendo Magazine UK.  The full review was posted here.

According to the review the game sounds like it turned out great.  The normal mode they say is really easy but once you unlock the hard mode it becomes rage inducing old school arcade difficulty.  In other words, it does a good job of appealing to newcomers as well as appealing to the long time fans.

« on: April 30, 2009, 08:42:32 PM »
And isn't EAD 4 the same team that is behind the Metroid games and Wario Ware? I remember reading somewhere they were originally R&D1.

That would be SPD1 who used to be R&D1 and has done the Wario Ware as well as 2d Metroid titles and recent Rhythm Tengoku/Rhythm Heaven.

EAD 4 is the people who did all the Mario Advanced ports on the GBA and then went on to do Mario 64 DS and New Super Mario Bros.  They're also responsible for both of the Big Brain Academy games as well as both of the Band Bros for the DS.

Their core games outnumber the new market games 2:1.

Actually it's more like 5:1, which makes the argument that Nintendo has abandoned core gamers even more ridiculous then it already it.  The amount of games that have been released and the ones we know are about to be released by Nintendo since the Wii's launch is around 40 by now.  And out of those 40, only 6 can really be considered aimed at the new market.

Not to mention out of these 6 games, 5 of them were made by the same studio, EAD 2.  Which really makes people's complaints about Nintendo abandoning their core games completely pathetic when only 1 out of the over 20 different development studio's they have right now is responsible for the majority of their new casual market games.

Quote
I see two games handed off to North American third party developers vs. a product handled by EAD, Nintendo's TOP first party development team.

Ian, there's five, I repeat FIVE different EAD studio's.  Wii Sports Resort is being done by EAD 2, the same studio that did Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Fit and Wii Music.  EAD1 released Mario Kart Wii last year so they aren't going to have anything new for awhile.  EAD 3 is the largest of the EAD teams and is responsible for the Zelda series and the majority of it is working on the new Zelda for the Wii.  No one knows what EAD 4 is doing, but the last game they released was Band Bros Deluxe for the DS last summer.  Finally we have Tokyo EAD who's last game was Mario Galaxy and before that Donky Kong: Jungle Beat.  I think we all know what Tokyo EAD is probably working on.

So once again, only one small part of Nintendo is responsible for the non games, when the rest is making nothing but core games.

TalkBack / Re: Initial GTA, MadWorld Sales Numbers Disappointing
« on: April 20, 2009, 09:17:18 PM »
Madworld is not the sort of game that should ever be expected to sell huge numbers.  It wouldn't have sold big on the other consoles either or on the PS2 last gen.  It's just not that kind of big blockbuster hit kind of game.

And you would be correct.  Madworld is pretty much the spiritual successor to God Hand for the PS2.  God Hand came out on the PS2 when it had an even bigger user base then the Wii has now, and yet, it did even worse then Madworld did it's first month.

Considering No More Heroes was able to sell around 60,000 it's first month, I imagine Madworld will be able to crack the 100,000 mark.  Which will be really good for the type of game it is.

Of course even if the game sells close to 200,000 it's first month, I'd imagine the HD fanboys are going to still say the game is a bomb and that Sega should port it over.  Completely ignoring that the type of game Madworld is wouldn't put up huge numbers on the 360/PS3 either.

Well Bear Hugger and Don Flamingo are now confirmed for the game.  Scans from the recent issue of Game Informer have come out and in it, both Bear Hugger and Don Flamingo are shown.

Somebody on Gamefaqs posted the scans, here's the links.

It no surprise that this game ended up being underwelming.  It was made by a small spinoff team who had to rush it out for the DSi launch in Japan last fall.  The main Wario Ware team on the other hand has been busy working on the upcoming WarioWare: Myself, which comes out in Japan later this month.

Needless to say, that game will end up much better.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Fatal Frame IV
« on: April 08, 2009, 10:10:03 PM »

That is interesting that they did try to publish Mother 3. I'll bet that was the creators refusing to let their baby go. Letting someone else publish a game like that could lead to the game getting changed too much since Atlus would be overseeing the translation process.

When it comes to the Mother series, NCL is very strict about it.  I'd imagine that NOA would probably be happy to have Atlus localize the game so the Mother fans will finally stop clogging their phone lines, but NCL refuses to allow any non Nintendo company to touch it.  Hell, NCL won't even allow NOA to change the music in Mother 2 so that Earthbound can come to the Virtual Console, and NOA is a part of Nintendo.

This is why I also believe Fatal Frame 4 will eventually come to North America.  Since it's not a Nintendo series, if NOA has no desire to release the game, then I don't see why they'd hold on to the publishing rights to keep the game in limbo.  Either Tecmo, Atlus or Xeed will probably release the game sometime in the next year.

The only way this game isn't coming to North America is if NCL for some strange reason doesn't allow NOA to allow another company to publish it, which makes no sense at all.  Unless the head of Tecmo's American branch somehow pissed off Iwata sometime in the last year, I don't see NCL doing this.

Don't worry, if SquareEnix puts a bald space marine as a playable character in the 360 version, the game will sell an extra 5 million copies it's first week.
