Nice to see it's finally going to come out.  Now I just hope it's actually good since the gameplay looks pretty interesting.

It goes like this.  Nintendo knows the most hardcore fans will probably spend hundreds of dollars just to buy every one of these.  The Wii U right now is only appealing to the most hardcore Nintendo fans.  So you give the hardcore something extra they can spend money on so even if Wii U hardware sales are still bad, Nintendo can still find a way to make a profit with a lower userbase.

Well fellow music lovers, there isn't enough Saiyan coaches in the world to show my reaction anymore.  The default music lineup is already at 323 songs and has some pretty damn impressive choices.  And this is just the default lineup, we haven't even gotten to all the unlockables yet.

Yeah, at this point the game is basically going be an interactive music CD for me. :)

I kind of doubt the Wii U's successor will even be out in 2016.  The way things are going, 2016 is going to be all about the 3DS successor and getting there studio's ready for that.  The earliest a Wii U successor will come is 2017.

We went over this back in 2011 people when the 3DS came out when some thought for sure the Wii successor would come out that year as well.  Nintendo doesn't have the ability to release a brand new handheld device and home console in the same year.  This isn't 2001, when you have a much simpler system like the GBA that could easily pump out SNES port with a new home console like the Gamecube.

1205
I kind of doubt there's going to be just 70 levels.  This is a Tokyo EAD game so I'd imagine they'll be quite a few unlockable levels that weren't shown during the Direct.  And of course there'll be the final super hard level that only becomes available after you've 100% everything else that will make you want to smash your head through the wall.

So I'd say there'll still be quite a few surprises left to see.

TalkBack / Re: More Spin-Off Titles Coming to Wii U in 2015, Says Miyamoto
« on: November 03, 2014, 12:28:17 AM »
I don't want to see just spin-offs thought. F-Zero, Ice Climbers, Duck Hunt, 1080, Excite, Golden Sun, Advance Wars, etc. There's plenty of franchises to bring back as well as spin-off. The software library has to be diverse enough without having a bunch of Mario/Zelda spin-offs.

We're still getting non Mario/Zelda games as well.  It's just in order to get riskier games like Splatoon and Xenoblade Chronicles X, Nintendo is going to need to make some money off Wii U software and Mario/Zelda are the only two franchises that have shown can do that.

Plus just because we're getting spinoffs doesn't mean we won't still get other old franchises brought back as well.  How many people honestly expected a new Star Fox to be announced for the Wii U last E3, or a sequel to Kirby's Canvas Curse being a Wii U game either?  Just because Miyamoto says we'll see more spinoffs doesn't mean that's the only thing we're getting now.

1207
It's really just a way for Nintendo to sneak into our dreams and brainwash millions of people into becoming loyal consumers.  All these people buying the device to help with sleep, will unexplainably wake up the next day with an urge to buy the newest Mario game, even if they've never played a game in their life.

1208
I heard that Europe is getting the final games of the Donkey Kong Country and Land Trilogies tomorrow.
I really hope those of us in the US get those soon. I was in college (no video game budget) when the Country Trilogy was available on Wii VC. When I graduated and finally got enough money to buy those 3 games I couldn't find them. I looked online and I'd missed it by a month and never could figure out why they took them down.

It was terrible that Nintendo never said when they were going to take the games down when they did.  I had downloaded DKC1/2 and planned on eventually getting DKC3 but then boom, they just took it down without warning.  That's why everyone who wants these games, needs to download them as soon as possible because I wouldn't be surprised if these are going to be some limited time deal again as well.

TalkBack / Re: Zelda Wii U, Star Fox Set for 2015 Release
« on: October 29, 2014, 11:03:07 PM »
Well Zelda depends entirely on how development is actually going this time.  Skyward Sword took 5 years because it originally wasn't even going to use Motion +, which when they decided to use they ended up pretty much redoing the entire thing.  Realistically if development has actually gone smoothly this time with no huge shakeups in design or controls, a 2015 can still be possible.

Start getting Sega and TurboGraphix games again.  TurboGraphix especially since the Japanese eShop has PC-Engine games making the lack of them in the West even more confusing.

I dunno, dude, I must have tried at least twenty times going through all of the methods I've found posted. From what I pieced together on various forums, it seems that Elena will only go through so many generic "bonding" cutscenes between each master flesh feeding, and after I ran those out (and making flesh rot when going to 11/12 stopped working), it was hard locks all the way.

Oh, that might be part of it.  My first time through I didn't get all the bonding cutscenes.  I just made sure I was at least high enough so I could reach the 13th Tower my first run but not much higher.  If the cutscenes are somehow effected to the glitch, I didn't see all of them so the glitch was more random for me making the towers still beatable, but if you saw them all, then you're probably locked out.

I guess the message for anyone who hasn't played the North American version yet is to not spend much time with Elena your first time through and make sure you got all the exclusive items from the 11th/12th Tower before you beat the boss of that Tower, because in New Game + you can never revisit those towers ever again.

NSMB U/Luigi is pretty much the ultimate 2D Mario experience.  Takes everything from the previous 2D Mario's and refines, polishes, perfects and twist in ways that just make it amazing the whole way.  It also has the challenge mode which is a hardcore Mario fans dream come true.  Trying to 100% all gold medals is a very challenging experience in a good way that shows just how great the games level design really is.

1213
It depends the only really commercially viable on the game that would sway people is smash brothers. You have to wonder if that and the bundles are enough. Smash Brothers is awesome but for $50 more you can get a much more support system that comes with two or three games.

There's nothing on the Xbone that's anything like Smash Bros.  People buying the Wii U for Smash Bros this holiday are doing it because they love playing Smash Bros and want the newest installment.  Plus for many, Smash Bros will end up giving them way more hours of gameplay in the end anyway making just that one game a better value then 2-3 Xbone games anyway.

I guess I should point out my main issue is I don't buy hand held machines anymore and even when I did I wasn't that big into portable gaming so I miss out on the vast majority of the "good" Kirby games as a result from what I hear. My experience is limited mostly to the console games. I am considering getting a 3DS Xl at some point though so that might change in the near future.

Return to Dreamland was a Wii game.  You own a Wii U so it can still play the game, so if you love Kirby, try to find a copy of Return to Dreamland.  It was a 2011 release so some stores might still have it.

HOLY ****

That's right, the final boss theme to The Wonderful 101 is a track on the Mario Galaxy stage.  For anyone that hasn't heard this masterpiece yet, here it is.

Well I think the Mario Galaxy stage will win the award for stage with best song selection.  Tracks from Galaxy 1+2 and the Final Boss theme to The Wonderful 101.  Going to be real hard to top that.

My favorite Kirby is Return to Dreamland since it takes the gameplay Super Star started and puts in a bigger Kirby game that also has a great challenge as well.  The challenge rooms in Return to Dreamland alone are more fun to me then anything else Kirby related since they finally give players are real reason to get good at using Kirby's abilities.

I've always liked Kirby games, but the biggest problem is they're just way too easy.  Even Super Star which is great and all, is still extremely easy (except for the True Arena in Super Star Ultra).  The challenge rooms in Return to Dreamland finally gave something for a more skilled gamer like me to really enjoy after playing the main game.  Of course even with the main game, I loved that Return to Dreamland also included a EX mode after you beat the game that made all the bosses much harder with entirely new attacks as well.  This made the True Arena in that game a blast to play as well.

I still haven't played Triple Deluxe for the 3DS but I've heard it does similar things so it could replace Return to Dreamland after I eventually play it.  For now though, Return to Dreamland is still king.

Pandora's Tower (Wii):

You have to beat the final twin dungeons in at most three runs, or you're fucking stuck. Apparently this was some problem with converting the game from PAL, and there is no solution. I put 20 hours into this goddamn game. I would not advise buying it under any circumstances with this glitch looming.

That's not true though.  If you keep reseting your system it'll eventually let you through.  The more runs you do the less likely the workaround will work, but if you keep reseting, eventually there will be a time the glitch doesn't happen and you can finish those towers even after 3 runs.  It took me more then 3 runs to beat it and I ended up resetting I'm sure a dozen times but it's still possible to get through the towers.

Of course be sure to get all the dungeon exclusive items before you beat the final boss in the 13th Tower since on New Game + the glitch will work 100% of the time, making it impossible to revisit the 11th/12th towers again.  Luckily on New Game + you can go to the 13th Tower whenever you want so the game won't lock you out of being able to get all the different endings, but the 11/12th tower will be.

Well it doesn't look like any store in my area (Walmart/Kmart/Gamestop/BestBuy) is going carry Bayonetta 2 in-store.  Damn shame Nintendo didn't try to market this game better.

The original Bayonetta was given a bigger marketing push by Sega and was released on two systems with userbases much bigger then the Wii U, and yet it still did poorly and was selling at bargin bin prices less then 2 months after release.  Not hard to see why Bayonetta 2's shipment is so low.

Bayonetta like Platinums other games just don't have mass market appeal.  Nintendo could have spent 100 million on marketing and released a PS4/One version as well and the end result would still be the same.  Niche games are going to be niche no matter what.

Damn, that stage looks sexy. Though apparently someone on reddit found that there's going to be a Smash 64 stage in the game, but we don't know if its been "HD"-ified.

The stage select screen on the My Music page shows Kongo Jungle is the N64 stage.

Wouldn't be surprised if Dreamland and Yoshi's Story from 64 also return since they were in Melee.  I mean, there was only 3 N64 stages in Melee and none in Brawl and now one of those 3 from Melee is going to return in Wii U.  We got Dr. Mario back and now Mewtwo is also returning so I wouldn't be surprised if all Melee's N64 stages get brought back just because bringing things from Melee back seems to be the thing.

53. Register both Wii U and 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros. on Club Nintendo by January 13 to get a two-disc soundtrack, 36 tracks on each CD. Someone call Luigi Dude and tell him to post the Super Saiyin Coach.gif.

At this point somebody really needs to edit this to make it Super Saiyan Level 3 because that's my level after this Direct.  Especially after that part in the Direct showing just how much more music is in the Wii U version.  If that comparison bar is anywhere close to accurate, then the soundtrack in the Wii U version is looking to be over 500 songs.  Makes me almost want to go Level 4 but then I'd have to acknowledge GT which outside of the music, I don't want to go there.

I think Nintendo earned their Super Saiyan Coach.

Being able to draw stages is going to make this mode so much better.  Not only will it make building faster, but will allow more different kind of designs then ever before.  The amount of crazy stuff I'll be able to design now is going to be insane.

Plus I can't wait to see what some of the more artistically creative people will create now since you know there's going to be some artistic masterpieces being made.  If some people are able to draw amazing things on Miiverse, I can't wait to see what some of them will create in this mode now.

Mewtwo is a character many people have been speculating for a long time for obvious reasons.  First in the normal roster, and then as DLC right after the normal roster was revealed.  Now this Spainkiller could be right in the end but right now, making a prediction that Mewtwo was going to be DLC and he ended up being doesn't exactly give the guy the most credibility in the world.  It's not exactly a Wii Fit Trainer type of prediction that also happened to have Mega Man and Villager as well that.

Personally I'd expect Lucas and Wolf to be added as well since like Mewtwo, they're characters that already have existing movesets from former Smash Bros so they're easier to make.  I could also see Ice Climbers maybe returning since if the requirement to get DLC involves owning both versions, realistically everyone who owns both is going to prefer the Wii U version anyway so making them Wii U exclusive shouldn't offend anyone since the only way to get the DLC characters involves owning a Wii U anyway.

Wow, this pretty much shows any track from previous Mario Karts are fair game, even those that had already been remade.  Can't wait to see what the other stages will be.

I can't find the celebratory reaction face for this. I'm excited about the upcoming Nintendo Direct yet disappointed that I can't adequately register my excitement.
