"3) Yes, Metroid Hunters: First Hunt was mainly to show off graphics and multiplayer. They've already accomplished that. If that's all they want they could add a few more maps and weapons and release it next month."

With the controls that Hunters has, its probably going to be more action oriented. It control's like any other fps, and the focus on exploration is probably going to be down a lot more. That's not saying it's bad but its a fact. I hope a lot other fps make it onto the DS, because I think it's one of the major advantages it has over the PSP.

It's just kind of wierd with a Metroid Pinball game because they've always been the more serious type of game, and pinball games are more... not... serious... errr yeah. Mario pinball wasn't that great a game and the other sequals to a lot of N64 games of Nintendo made weren't followed up that well(Mario Golf: TT was basically the same game with better graphics, and 1080 had the same problem). I want to see more than one AAA game come out for the DS this year. All there is is WarioWare Touched, which I hear Twisted is a little better, Metroid, and Castlevania DS, but that's coming out until the very last day of the year, if its not moved back. I hope Nintendo proves me wrong.

I think that what Nemo is trying to say is this: Nintendo is using the names of their franchises to sell more games than quality (that doesn't mean they don't have quality). Look at all of the recent Mario appearances in different games. DDR, NBA Street (great game btw), etc. Also, instead of doing a spin-off, why not create a new franchise? Take a risk. The Metroid name isn't big enough to get a whole lot of attention. Pikmin was a new franchise early on in the GC's release. Why not do the same with the DS?

The thing that irks me alot is Mario pinball. It was pretty dissapointing, but had so much potential. Hopefully, this game will have the same quality as Pokemon Pinball, which was a good game in it's own right.

"Nintendo has always multitasked with different departments and companies handling various game developments, so if anything Metroid Pinball will add to their lineup of games in development rather than detract elsewhere.'
Companies like Namco made one of my favorite games of all time half super awesome, and half okay at best. There wasn't a whole lot of polish on a game that took such a long time to make.

That pretty much ruins the game.

Hey, whatever happened to that AOL partnership-like thingy with Nintendo? It was awhile ago, but could it have been related to the DS?

Thanks a lot Nintendo.  You launched the DS with a damn port and have thus set the example for all other publishers to treat the DS as port machine just like that piece of crap Super Mario Advance set the example of the GBA being a port machine.

Yeah, nintendo kind of set the bar with that. Hopefully Rayman will use the analog touch screen idea a lot better. I hope it's set in place instead of it moving around every time. I've never played a Rayman game, but I still wish they would've released something new. Or it better be improved a lot.

I totally thought Nintendo would actually USE the 3 and a half month head start they have over the PSP. I'm still waiting for a good multiplayer game that I can at least use to play my brother who bought one for that reason. It's hard to find someone with another cart of a game, which is why the DS Download feature is really great. Online play would further eliminate the factors needed to play a multiplayer game. And the only good game that came out in January was Zoo Keeper. Actually it was the only game. But it's overpriced. But I'm getting off topic. Nintendo didn't use the time they had to release a single game where you could connect to someone else online. I just cant believe it. And the only games that are possibly online are Metroid, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, and they are way later in the year. That's possibly 3 games for this whole year. I'm not saying that games should have to be online to be fun or something, but what games right now, besides mario 64 and Feel the Magic are fun? And they are the only games that utilize the DS features well (mario64's minigames). Nintendo could stand to release a 1st party online game that is perfectly suited to be an online game. Or they could release more games in general. : )

The requirement for one of the big features of the DS without something like this would be a wireless router, and broadband. People with this could maybe go on with a 56K, or broadband connection without a wireless router. They're aren't enough people with DS's who have a wireless router. So this would boost the userbase of the online DS's.

That's assuming if this is real. Or its just some way to connect your DS to your computer. If it isn't real, something like this should be. I actually the picture's a fake though.

No they aren't! It's Soma Cruz... Nintendo of Europe is great at knowing facts about the things they advertise.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Mario Kart DS!!
« on: January 27, 2005, 04:07:43 PM »
the only thing i didn't like regarding tracks was that there weren't enough of them! Rainbow Road for it was much better than MK64 and my favorite course of all time is now DK Mountain. I really do hope they decide to make more than four cups. One of the things that made Mario Kart: SS great was the amount of different tracks. I was saddened by DD not having Lightning Cup but hopefully it will make a return in the DS version. Also hopefully they will have "Quick Run" which was also missing from DD. This is a handheld game so it would be an ideal feature.

So far the game is looking pretty solid. I hope it comes out earlier than the December 31, 2005 date (its either going to be earlier or delayed, probably). Still no touch-screen features, but I don't want them to implement one that doesn't work well, like Mr. Driller. Definitely looking forward to this game.

yeah, that's the only thing that would make it worthwhile. Also if they included wi-fi. I wanna play with a friend not near me. If they bumped down the price to 25 it might be a better deal too.

Nintendo Gaming / the "right" way to hold the DS
« on: January 17, 2005, 08:42:56 PM »
I think that the best way to hold the DS (for stylus games) is byholding it regularly with your left hand, and with your right palm, u hold up the bottom right part of your DS. I never get cramps or anything in my hands, even after long hours of play. I wish i could post pictures, but yeah. I don't really find the 'hold part of the DS on the edge of a table' thing to work very well. Because then u have to hold your arm up. So anyways, the point of this thread is to find better ways to hold the DS or something.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: should we worry now?

"I think the easiest option for Nintendo would be to hurry up and finish the play-yan, have some GOOD working features in it, and bundle it with all DS's at 150, or else just sell it seperately and have the DS at 99... I mean 150 isn't a bad deal if you get a DS and a play yan, and a demo of some game."

No that wouldn't work. The play-yan is useless if u don't have a SD memory card. They'd lose a lot of money bundling play-yans to people who don't even need them. They COULD pack in a coupon for a play-yan. Maybe for half off. But i don't see this happening.
