this color isn't really that great. I'd rather get the white one, or the black one.

that game (to me) is a pretty good deal if they sell it at a budget price. It only works well if you have the online capability though.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt
« on: April 17, 2005, 07:38:43 PM »
in an interview on 1up awhile ago, they said it would have a regular single player mode. And it's a FPS because the emphasis will be on action (as said by the game developer guy). I don't think it will have as much exploration. My question is, why are they calling it Metroid PRIME Hunters. It doesn't look like Metroid Prime is in there...

but the ships have a realistic look to it... or at least try to be. You can't have to opposing styles together like that. They have to decide on one or the other.

EDIT: This is in regards to the space combat and how the explosions look cartoony while the ships look real

The Millenium Falcon looks TERRIBLE. It's bad enough that it has that ugly low resolution backside, but it's just one big jaggy for the back. The DS can do way better than that.

And maybe some people prefer to be able to SPELL! OH!!!! Just kidding man. What did u mean by the last thing you said? It has nothing to do with what Mario said, unless I'm reading it wrong. Are you talking about the launch line-up? And if so, what does that have to with the PSP being brand new? yeah...

And I prefer systems with only three good games after 5 months. Makes them a lot better. Urg, I wish I lived in Japan.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Will it be called the Nintendo Revolution?
« on: April 10, 2005, 04:03:55 AM »
It has to be a name where you can say: Hey, you wanna play some _____ for awhile?
GameCube works, PS2 works, XBox works, Revolution doesn't really work quite as well. Paired to make Nintendo Revolution does sound pretty cool to me though. But alone, it doesn't sound like a game system.

I had so much hope for Mario Pinball... until it came out. Maybe, just maybe, this will turn out well. But I wouldn't bet on it.

It looks kind of like the same concept with the timers and bosses. The guys who made it made Pro Pinball, which was a very good pinball game. Maybe Mario pinball was a fluke. I'm not gonna say whether the game is bad or not, because it only matters if it's fun. But the concept of using Metroid for pinball is really odd. Metroid shouldn't be made into a farce like this. It's one of the more serious games, and when a franchise character (mario, sonic, etc) is made into a pinball game, it's comical almost. But it's not even cool, like how Odama is cool. It makes you say "woah. What?" instead of just saying "what?".

well, there's really no other way to make a FPS on the DS that works as well as MPH. Traditional X/Y and mouse arrangement works best with them.

well the game is made from scratch, so hopefully EA will see what needed to improve.

that game is a really dumbed down version of the first Tony Hawk game. It's come a long way since then. And TH for the PSP is practically the same (or better) than the ones on consoles.

one of the great advantages of the DS is the ability to play games multiplayer with only 1 game card. So far, few have shown this great ability off. Even Mr. Driller, a game I would have bought if it had the feature didn't. But it did in Japan, which was evil of them to exclude the feature. I am so glad that a full 3D game like GoldenEye: Rogue Agent will be able to run on the DS with the DS download feature. Mario 64's multiplayer was really lacking, and Metroid would be really fun, but the matches are too short/there's no customizability. That would be a cool word if it was real. Well anyways, I hope GE will turn out well, and also prove that the DS can have solid FPS's, so that if a developer wants to make a game, it can fall back on making a good FPS. And FPS's are one of the most popular games genres in the US. Also this game proves that the DS can have good graphics. It's nowhere near the PSP, but not that bad. I don't want the DS to be typecast into a system with only 2D games that use the touchscreen well.

i really like the way the DS screen is designed. I can't see smudges (or the really small scratches) at all when the system is on.

In short, this game sucks because it's BS from the start.

its a pretty novel idea. If the game is fun to play, then it doesn't matter what licence it has. Also the LEGO theme is evident throughout the game. It's neat just watching the physics of the blocks being blasted apart. Number one factor is funability.

I swear I must be the only one who likes these controls.  And for the last time Mario is NOT a port.  Ridge Racer DS and especially Rayman DS were ports.

you're right about one thing. okay fine, Mario 64 is an Updated Port. It's a good example of what to do with games you're going to port, because it's enhanced and a little bit different. And the mini-games were the things that made it worth it. But why couldn't they have just made a new mario game? Besides the issue of development time.

Wipeout Pure is a lot better than the one on PS1, Ridge Racers is infinitely better than the one on DS, and all the Twisted Metal games except TW2 weren't that great until Black and this one.

ruby_onix: just because the PSP was announced in may 2003 doesnt mean it was being developed for right there. When Nintendo announced it, I think they already had several dev kits out (I'm not sure about that fact btw). The development time isn't that much of a gap as you think.

Paladin: Wipeout Pure, Ridge Racers, Twisted Metal, and Tony Hawk's UG2 aren't mediocre games. They all had a solid 8 or above. They aren't the best games ever, but unlike the DS games (right now) they don't have any real major flaws.

WarioWare has a lot of minigames that are nearly the same, and it also can be considered too short.
Mario is a port. Analog control issues.
Yoshi's lastability is questionable to a lot of people.
Feel the Magic is too short.

And those are the best games of both. The worst thing to me is that the game that most people are looking for is Mario Kart DS when it doesn't seem to have any touch-screen control. You don't have to use all the features, but can't the same thing be said about the multimedia features on the PSP?
