TalkBack / RE:Mega Man on Wii?
« on: May 18, 2006, 06:33:22 AM »
megaman x was story driven, more so then the original mega man series atleast.
i dont want to see mega man kick again, let him shoot, slide/dash, and roll (cuz it would look cool!) and you're done.

i dont want to get into the battery argument but this is still on topic with hardware:

with all the excitement from e3, all the games, all the speculation, i forgot just how small the consol is supposed to be. "roughly 3 dvd cases stacked on top of eachother" really is the best comparison...

look at just how small the consol is...

it makes the 12cm disc look like a vinyl record!

if you've played giest:

remember the intro level when you first become a wandering spirit? i want all Wii commercials to look like that lol. all the colors just stood out beutifully and the voice was somehow tranquil yet robatic at the same time. Wii ads should make you give off a high-tech vibe while comforting non-gamers. thats the way to go

blah that stpuid z button...it should be a trigger underneath the left hand side of the controller to give it that more instictive feel that the n64 controller had, i hope they change it but i doubht it. i still like the overall design too, SNES pad was my favorite of all nintendo controllers, even though it could become uncomfortable after a while (GCN pad had the best comfort IMO)

NWR Forums Discord / RE:Long lines at Nintendo's booth just a trick
« on: May 17, 2006, 06:39:25 AM »
"Due to the artificially long wait times they setup for the Wii demo's, people would wait in the line once and not want to leave the area. They were never told to leave. They could stay there all day if they wanted, thus creating even longer lines. "

so those videos of the doors opening and hundreds upon hundreds of people rushing straight IN to the nintendo booth was some sort of trick? pleease, its so sad they even tried to come up with such comments. even if it is true and nintendo's booth was so "poorldy designed and mismanaged", it seems like there were more people who rushed to make the original lines into the nintendo booth than those who wanted to get a taste of sony and MS's offerings.

i want to hear from someone who was actually waiting in those lines if any of this "poor design" stuff is even true, but only out of curiosity. the fact is those people stampeded (is that even a word?? lol) into nintendo's booth and not sony's for a reason.

i agree with ogre, that was how i thought he meant it; sony wants nothing short of "breathe takingly realistic" games and with a series thats rooted in 2-d sprites, and has worked best in that manner, ps3 just wouldnt be the right place to take the franchise too. those people with lots of money that are going to (sadly) spend it on ps3 aren't going to flock to to such a game, even one as well known as megaman, because the series is only popular amongst its hardcore fans.

even if they made another legends-type game and made it flashy but not  ultra realistic, it just dont see it selling well beacuse the interest isnt there and all the hardcore fans might not own a ps3. then where would capcom be? spend all that money on a devkit, spend more resources making the game, and end up with a flop?
atleast the Wii is cheaper to develop for and could bring something completely new to the series with the wiimote.

i have never played x7 or x8 because i don't own a ps2, but i have played legends/64 (yes, on both PS and N64) and i must say i wasn't very happy. back when it was being called Mega Man Neo, i remember being so excited and imagining how cool it would be to have mega man in 3d, only to be disapointed. It just didnt have the same feel as the megaman or megaman x games. its not the rpg aspect im talking about either, it just wasn't action packed like i expected. those dungeons were lame and none of the enemies seemed like they could ever harm mega man. maybe it was just the resources at the time but im sure there were more games of its type that could have more enemies on screen at once.

if they were to make 3d megaman again, and give it the same fast paced action feel as the megaman X series, i would be happy. i dont want another battle network game, i just never liked those. i want hordes of enemies to blast thru, coming at me from all directions, with 3rd person perspective and aiming with the wiimote. if it is the x series, add zero and have some cool combos to be executed with the wiimote as well. thats what i want to see, but who knows if it will ever happen.

" I haven't had a chance to check out the Wii myself, but Nintendo has a great history of innovation and has always done great things for gaming and long may they do so....so we can "innovate" as well"

thats how i read that last statement anyway.

"Now, why doesn't Microsoft let Nintendo sell Rare games on the VC?"

although i'd love to play some of those classic rare games, the only way i see microsoft doing that while rare is under their belt is by having some kinda MS ads in the game. Like you d/l perfect dark and after the Rare logo you see something like "perfect dark 0 only on xbox" or something. that would be super lame and i wouldnt want nintendo to make an agreemant which would advertise its competitor.

i dont care about the control methods. i want starfox online with wifi and i want to be able to play a level like Katina in Star Fox 64 with a massive number of ships flying around; some good, some bad. that was always my vision of having an online star fox.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Metroid...at launch!
« on: May 14, 2006, 05:07:25 PM »
i've said in another post that if utilized correctly, other bounty hunters wouldn't take away as much of that "lonliness" feeling you get when playing metroid games. it could be like space pirate encounters, the ones where they come out of nowhere and scare the crap out of you (and NOT like the ones where you blast a door open and see them hovering around lol)

if they mess it up and have some bounty hunter come in out of nowhere and blow sh*t to hell (like zero in the mega man x games) then i'll be mad. if they show up once or twice to help, then attack you and keep you guessing as to what comes next, it will still give you that mentality that you're (kind of) alone on a foreign planet but something is out to get you

by the way the demo fight of samus vs ridley falling down a shaft = hotness

to answer whoevers question that was; yes i will be getting both versions of TP, though im not sure if i'll be getting them on the same day or not. with metroid and TP as launch titles, and hopefuly red steel, im not sure how much gaming time i'll have.

the last time i bought more than two games at once i felt obligated to play each one of them for atleast a few hors a day that it kind of ruined the experience because i couldnt get drawn in as much as i could have. i would play MP2 until i had accomplished something, anything really, the save and play another game, Geist for example. Then with geist i would complete a stage, then save and play ANOTHER game, but it felt rushed.

i wont want that to be the case when i get Wii. i've never had more than two games at a system launch, the only reason i had two for GC was because i had to buy a crap-bundle with one of the games being something i had no interest for, so i only played one game until the next big thing came along. This time around though, how can i NOT resist games like TP, MP3 and RS. especially because i'll have that "new toy" feeling where i wont even want to part with my Wii....its going to be a hard time NOT playing the damn thing, let alone trying to figure out which game to play next. Im actually frustrated that MP3 and TP are being released side by side because they are both such enthrawling games that play better when you take your time an explore. if Wii launched with either Zelda, Metroid, or Red steel, and other games like wario ware, and some third party games i dont have much interest on playing right away, i would be much happier.

I might have to take a week off from work when Wii is launched, am i the only one who feels this way?

i dont want to add to a wishlist of characters (because i started that thread a while back).

i do want to point out one thing though. Even when people were mentioning a WW Link to replace young link, i agreed when people said it would look out of place, but then i remembered something. Twilight Princess has cell shading in it as well. if you recall, the segments where creatures come from the 'twilight', they clearly show what appears to be a black hole or cloud in the sky, with a colored rune or some sort and cel shaded creatures coming out of it. If they can do that in TP which is looking ultra realistic, they can do it in smash.

i'd be all for it now that i know it can be done

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Rumor: Wii launch price $249, VC details
« on: May 12, 2006, 05:49:41 PM »
these are the only games i can think of off the top of my head to pay $10 for:

GoldenEye *
Perfect Dark*
Sin & Punishment

*they are unlikely because of the whole Rare thing but i would love to play those on a controller thats anolog stick isnt worn out and "limp" (anyone else have that problem when going back to n64 games?)

also, i'd just like to say i dont have a big problem with the retro-mote. the few things that bug me is the z button on the top looks really out of place and hard to reach. i hope they redisgn it so that it has a few grooves in the back to rap your fingers around, instead of being sorta flat (atleast that what the pics make it out to be) and having the z trigger on the left hand groove where you index or middle finger could rest. that would make n64 games so much easier to play and have a similar feel to the n64 controller.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Wii's Last Secret
« on: May 12, 2006, 05:24:12 PM »
if nintendo does have one BIG secret they want to reveal, my guess is that its going to be on the last day of e3.
it would be the biggest cocktease ever if they did.

its like "okay big press confrence, what suprises should we let out...hmm...nothing really, Wiiconnect24 isnt as special as the BIG secret, so let give them that, lets not talk about price yet either, just to have a bomb to drop later....lets be nice, show off mario without talking about it beforehand and let the crowd roar...."

next few days show a few suprise games...

last day "we're so glad to see all of you having so much fun enjoying Wii and the games offered to you. your reactions please us to no end and we're sure Wii is going to be a huge success. By the way......BIG SECRET!"

and then the internet explodes.
