mantidor is from columbia, he might get mugged by a gang of ten year olds. i'd stay indoors if i were him.

just in case anyone might of taken offense to that, i wasn't really joking. my family is from a south american country and that really is what its like in some areas. even i being of hispanic decent could be a target if i went down to one of those countries and spoke fluent english. they would know i wasn't from the area and stalk me until they had a chance to take what they want. it's actually quite scary. In ecuador once when i was about 8 i was at a market with my family, it was my first time in an other country and i didn't speak spanish very well. anytime i sould say something in english people would turn and the non honest ones would stare....it was creepy. my parents had to take us back to my grandmothers house because we were all a little disturbed.

i know better now and make sure i have a change of clothes waiting for me that arent so american.

mario's cape should stay, i love that move. practice enough to get the timing right and watch peoples reaction when you fling a bob-omb back at them....aah i love smash :-D

maybe they can replace marios up+b (the uppercut) and incorperate the cape in some way that makes him do some kind of flying move. even if they change the uppercut slightly so that it becomes a type of grab where mario flies up and back down to power bomb the crap out of an opponent....then again thats too similar to kirby's grab move. i duno, it'd be cool to see mario fly with the cape though, with the cape or the Leaf power up from SMB3.

i might be the only person who watched the whole thing, i saw this a few days ago though and didnt bother posting it. its just dumb.

my favorite part is towards the end when he goes says:

"we all know what psp stands for; play station portable. what does ds stand for? i dunno, i dont have one"

(this after ranting about it being pointless for having DUAL SCREENS because it waste battery...)

oh and this was good too..

"the psp uses wifi technology that enables people to play psp together. if you have a psp, and your friend has a psp, you can play together. if your friend has a ds, and you have a psp, you can't play together. its a fact, look it up"

what a tard

exactly. i never once scatched a cd in either my moms car or my own. then one day you tell someone to put a cd in for you cuz you're lazy and they put it in wrong and scratch the hell out of it .

so mantidor, the impression you're giving me is that since replacing something is not an option for you, you would take care of your things more so than some of us, right? well if thats the case and you're being slightly obsessive compulsive about it, you'll take good care of your Wii disc and load them in properly, because there is no question in my mind that the Wii would scratch your disc upon insertion. any damage would be from you

i dont know about you guys but as much as i love the GC controller, it isn't all that easy to hold two of the face buttons at the same time. the feel of them makes it awkward to do so, though if i had to shift from A - b, A - y, A - x, it really is simple.

the only example i can give is the mega man collection (not the X collection) since its the last game i played. if you try to do the auto fire with Y while jumping with B, its almost impossible for me to do it with just my thumb. i end up using my index finger to hold Y when i have to continuously jump. it was much easier to hold and press two buttons at the same time with the SNES set up. mega man x is the best example because you're almost always holding down Y to charge up your mega buster, and jumping with be, and also hitting A for dashing. all with just one finger! (and dont give me that "its not a finger, its a thumb" crap lol)

yeah nintendo might be willing to take that risk, but if software doesn't sell well after launch devolopers might think its going to be a flop and back out, and developers that will take the "wait and see" approach would bash the system as being g*mmicky. even if it reaches DS-like sucess, there will be developers who wouldn't want to go back on their claims of it being a g*mmick and not support the machine at all.

or how about an ER game with george clooney? perrin saw him at e3, maybe she worked some of her womanly magic on him to get him to agree? miyamoto could of promised stephen spielberg a Wii with WiiSports before launch if he directed, so who knows what could happen!

So if Snake is so opposed to combat, does that mean he's being forced to fight in Smash Bros. against his will?  He sure seemed willing in the trailer.

He'll fight for what he knows is a good cause, and since Wario is apparently a living nuclear bomb, he'll be willing to fight to end the nuclear threat once and for all.

i agree with TrueNerd!!!

i was actually going to write up a similar suggestion that you made, before i read your post and im glad you did.

Quote

There is a boss that travels furiously fast, is enourmously huge, and is the first water boss in Metriod history (i think). Samus must grapple to it's back and she hangs on for dear life, water ski as she tries to kill the damn thing! Knowing Retro, it would be crazy!

it was similar to that but i was thinking of a flying creature (though seeing samus water ski would be the best thing ever, especially if he suit magically came off....). with the flying creature you could attach yourself to part of its body and fly around the level as it tries to throw you off of it, possibly even trying to swing you into walls. you'd have to shot a charged shot towards the wall to push you away from it before impacting. there could be mutiple grapple points to latch on to if you do fall off of the giant creature and have to fight it while swinging, waiting for it to charge you so you can blast it, stun it, then latch on again and go for another ride, that being the only way to hit its weakpoint (like its belly or something).

the problem with olimar being followed around by pikman, if their open for attack anyways, is that it would be much too easy to attack the pikmin before attacking olimar, which would lead to all the pikmin being ko'd and Olimar being a sittign duck. just like Iceclimbers. you get rid of Nana and Popo doesn't stand a chance.

pikmin or Olimar w/pikmin as an item would probably work better. first mr. saturn, now nintendogs as items...it would probably be easier to just make them items or maybe even a pikmin themed level.

I think the player should be capable of aiming in any way he wants.

As for bringing it down to hit it, I'd say you swing up and start hitting it into the head that way.

i do too, but i figured that aiming at parts of an enemies body would be too much work for this guy to deal with so i simplified it for him because he can't think of ideas. geez im talking as if he'll even see this. i won't get my hopes up for a castlevania game because if he even is interested, you know he's going to take the "wait and see" approach with Wii, while he shovels crap into the ps3 thinking it will be an instand hit

i already posted a link to that and i guess no one checked it

i was more took in by how small the system is in comparison to the disc, but you'rs was a valid question mantidor. honestly im sure nintendo will provide a quality product on all fronts, they always do, so im sure your Wii and GC disc won't get damaged being entered and ejected from the system.

speaking of nintendo's hardware being kick ass; i recently dropped my GC from over five feet, landed face first on top of both my memorty cards and i thought that ATLEAST my memory cards would be trashed, but they and the system are working fine. though now my gc has a battle scar across the front, and if i take out one of the cards that flap wont close unless i tap the front end of it lol.

my point is, you shouldn't worry about it

more press is for game related media though, and unless you're coocoo for gaming, why be in that feild?
ign, game informer, egm, things like that are the places who dedicate issues to e3. the ny times, readers digest, and publication like that give it a page at most, and summarize everything. plus nintendo usually isn't even mentioned. as for retailers, would you send the person that knows nothing about video games and wouldnt make judgment on what would be hot to sell, or the guy that knows video games inside and out?

-edit: i was speaking of the event as a whole, my bad. the conference could of been more appealing to the 'nongamer' or casual gamer, but i misinterpreted the editorial i guess. i still stand by what i said, because if the press confrence showed nothing but nongames or things like wiisports only, the internet would of exploded on the 9th.

i too was dissapointed when i read the whole "point at the sensor bar, not the tv" thing but the more i thought about it the less i cared.

when you're playing the game will you honestly be worried about where your hand is aiming or will you concentrate on the game and the cursor that tells you where you are aiming? its a non-issue for me and to anyone who takes the time to think of it that way. so what if your hand is pointed to the sensor bar, you're not keeping your eye on your hands, you're keeping your eye on the screen; where the reticules for aiming are, where the game interprets you to be aiming with precision. thats all that matters.

just to get worked up on that issue alone is a waste of time and energy, but yeah this EARLY preview did make the game out to be flawed. then again, like most people are saying it is still pretty early to pass judgement, especially on the wiimote and its functionality (i'm lookin' at you Ian) when other games are being praised for its control. hopefully it will all be fixed before its release, and they dont release it before these things are fixed. it will be a great game to miss out on.

who knows, maybe they'll even fix the sword fighting mechanics so that you wave your sword around with the same precision you do with a gun.

"This essential dichotomy has done Nintendo some damage already. What the firm needed from E3 was not a select few hardcore nerds who queued up over and over to play games on the Wii; it needed an absolute horde of ambassadors who had walked up to a stand, picked up a controller and enjoyed a game, and who then went home to their jobs, families and friends and talked positively about the new gaming experiences they had tried out. Short-term headlines about queuing for five hours leave Nintendo's new console already sounding hardcore and offputting to casual gamers, which is exactly what the company didn't want to do at this point in time."

...but how many of those people were at e3?
better question, how many of those people even know what e3 is?

nintendo knew e3 was about the hardcore, the fans that DO own a t-shirt with mario on it. i was online for two hours waiting to get into the nintendo world store on the 9th to see the live coverage of their conference and every two minutes someone on the busy streets of nyc would stop to ask "whats this line for" and all you had to say was "video games" or "its a nintendo thing". hell we even got away with saying "the nintendo world store" and they just shrugged and went about their lives. those are the casual-nongamers. if i mentioned e3 they would of given me a puzzled look and dismissed me as a geek or fanboy. e3 was about the games and the people they were meant for, its that simple.

good editorial though.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:No Castlevania on the wii
« on: May 18, 2006, 07:26:33 AM »
here is what i envision a 3d castlevania control scheme like.

(nunchuck)
movement: control stick (duh)
z1: lock on (ala zelda)
z2: special weapons (like axe, cross, holy water, etc)

(wii-mote)
A: jump
B: whip
D-pad: spells or something...honestly i haven't played a castlevania game since Super Castlevania

now heres the fun part, the implimentation(sp?) of motion controls!

-hold the B (whip) button down while motioning a circle in front of you and your character can swing his whip around for a radial attack.

-hold b button down and do a whipping motion to latch your whip onto either a grappling point or an enemy, then depending on the situation you could:
-(grappling point): cock the wiimote back and your character tugs at the whip as if to secure it then swing from point a to point b.   or...
-(enemy): pull back on the nunchuck to pull the enemy towards you*

*i picture this move being context sensitive. say theres a run of the mill zombie, when you grapple them with a whip it could wrap around their feet, you pull on the whip and drop them on their back where you could finish them off with you weapon on z2. hell have a zelda like over the shoulder aiming where you can throw a knife into their head with some precision, that would be so much fun!. the other scenario i picture is say theres a HUGE bigger enemy in front of you, like a giant statue come to life (okay i dont even know if this is such an enemy in castlevania, just humor me) and instead of wrapping your whip around its feet you wrap it around their neck and pull on the whip to bring them falling forward, or decapitate them.

now im no genious but i think those were some pretty clever ways to make castlevania feel new and creative wihle retaining what makes it castlevania in the first place. what do you guys think? im sure you could come up with something way cooler, especially since most of you have probably played more castlevania games than i have.
