I think your title needs to be "I don't know how to follow the forums image rules."

Yes I do. I haven't read on the list anything that would really just be using the board as a button.

Sorry for thinking outside of the box but even things like steering wheel pedals and brakes and heck the time crisis thing COULD be pressure sensitive and allow you to vary the speed  at which you are performing said actin.

So unless you want to pick out some suggestions and validate your response I stand by what I said.

I specifically said "most" because I wanted to exclude the snowboard or skateboard game idea from my criticism.  To have that very idea thrown back as a counterargument was a tad annoying.  I apologize for snapping at you.

First of all, I highly doubt the balance board is pressure sensitive in quite the way a lot of people are assuming.  If you look at pictures of it, you can clearly see a seam down the middle.  I don't know exactly what's inside of it, but there's no way it has enough sensors in it to replicate touchscreen-like features.  My best guess is that there are a few strain guages in it.  Regardless, I don't think the psychic, masseuse, or paint ideas will work because they would require vastly more sensor points than simple balance detection does.  That many sensors would be much more expensive and quite unnecessary for what's known to be possible in Wii Fit.

Time Crisis in particular has never to my knowledge used anything more than an on/off switch for the pedal.  There's no reason they couldn't change that, but there's little point in doing so unless they make major changes to the gameplay.  Besides, the pedal is only there as an extra input device that a player can use at the same time as a light gun.  The Wii remote solves that problem by having a bazillion more methods of input than a traditional light gun already, so there's no real need to add a pedal unless you just want that authentic arcade experience, which the balance board really won't help with, not having any give.

That lack of give will make it rather difficult to use for gas and brake pedals, too, since it won't be able to give the player any feedback on how far down the pedals are being pushed.  Try putting varying amounts of pressure on the floor with your foot.  That would be uncomfortable, tiring, and difficult to manage during a hectic race.  Regular pedal accessories would be both better and cheaper.

Track and dance games, again, just use digital buttons.  I'm not aware of many dance moves that involve keeping the feet still while shifting the body around, anyway.  Admittedly, the step aerobics game in Wii Fit is using the board this way, but that's a game that's included in the package.  The Wii balance board isn't going to be replacing any DDR mats.

I don't want to be a jerk and tell everyone that all these ideas suck or anything like that.  I just think the majority of the ideas for balance board uses I've seen are either not possible, superfluous, or poor fits.

I'm a little disappointed that the stage takes place in the sky above the town for no apparent reason.  I still hope the characters run out and bury pitfalls, like I described back in the old megathread.

I think the conversation shifted to Galaxy on that question, UncleBob.

I keep seeing Time Crisis mentioned here and elsewhere, but the balance board is extreme overkill for the foot pedal the arcade machines use.  It would be all around better to just point off screen to hide and reload.  The Wii can handle that out of the box.

The balance board is a pretty complicated device, and most of the ideas people are coming up with could be done with a Power Pad.  I don't mean any offense.  I just really don't expect to see much else done with it.  It's likely going to be an expensive peripheral, and even cheap peripherals are barely supported.

Here's the simple version:  Fried chicken is practically a staple in the southern U.S., crossing all boundaries of race and social status like a beautiful artery-hardening rainbow.  Black people took it with them when they started to leave the region, and ignorant Yankees assumed they liked it because they were black instead of because of where they were from.

Wouldn't the chicken have to fried before you could play the Race of Clubs?

There was a non-King Bulblin on the bridge when it was destroyed.

When the bridge teleports in, I hope it falls down from the sky so anyone caught under it will be smacked down by it.

Rogue Squadron isn't a Nintendo first party game.  Plenty of people bought it and liked it, as you implied.  Your entire argument falls apart right there.  A quality third party title was successful on a Nintendo platform.  Of course, you think just because they have somewhat similar gameplay, they must be equivalent.  There can't be any reason in your mind why one has an average score of 63 and the other 90, can there?

If you're so convinced that voting with your wallet works, what message do you think you're sending Nintendo when you turn up your nose at perfect 10, AAA games because you want to throw third parties a bone they don't even deserve?

If third parties are a dog, then Far Cry: Vengeance is a urine stain on the carpet.  You don't reward that.  You rub the dog's nose in it and say "NO" in a stern voice.  If Ubisoft's apology is worth anything, then we may have finally got them housebroken.  That's a whole lot better than trying to have fun on a wet smelly carpet.

In the original Super Mario Kart you'd spin out after sliding for too long, so there's a precedent.  Also, in Super Circuit, you'd get a boost after a long enough slide instead of the left/right silliness.  I don't like the left/right sparks thing because it's impossible to do it without taking the turn wider.  Double Dash opened my eyes when my copilot brought the blue sparks on a turn that usually killed me if I tried it alone.

Motion controls will probably demand a change to the way one brings the blue sparks.  I'm hoping so, anyway.

The two riders thing isn't the problem with Double Dash.  That's the only good change in the entire game.

In the clip they showed, Wario did a 360 off a jump.  I don't think he was hit by something.  It looked kind of boosty.

What is Endless Ocean on the upcoming Wii games list?  It's by Nintendo.

Edit: Never mind; found the video.

It's certainly a nice change to see a non-Nintendo system get the crappy feature that doesn't at all make up for no online play.  I should point out that the IGN article says the PS2 version lacks online multiplayer, not that it lacks any multiplayer mode at all.

If the DS cases were that small, they wouldn't hold manuals, and I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate having my manuals lie around unprotected.

If you feel bad because they're made from oil instead of hundred-year-old forests, why don't you recycle them?  Sell them to people like UncleBob.

If Sakurai demonstrates that he doesn't know what secret means, either, I'll simply do my best to avoid spoilers until the game's release.

Secret characters?

Do you know what secret means?

I for one don't want to know who the secret characters are until I unlock them.  It was a thrill in the previous games, and I don't want that kind of thing spoiled while I'm reading tidbits on new stages and moves.

There's no reason to assume it's permanent.  It will likely disappear like any other item eventually, even if it doesn't get thrown off.  Plus, the text isn't completely clear about it:

Tilt the Control Stick in the opposite direction of your movement to pull a 180. Use an attack button to jump off.

Quote

Only one motorcycle will appear on screen, so if you fall off, run back up to it and climb on again.

It's possible that the move only lasts for a certain amount of time in the first place, like everyone else's, and then the chopper disappears.  It may also disappear if you end the move early yourself.  The bit about falling off makes me think Wario can be knocked off with a well placed attack, and it is only then that the chopper remains.

Now that I think about it, Foster's Home lends itself well to a Lost Vikings treatment.  This one will probably be something more generic, though.

I had wondered whether the changes to E3 would impact PAX.  It seemed like the big fish just took their E3 demos to PAX.  They had to put together something for E3 anyway, so getting some more mileage out of it at another expo must have seemed like a bargain.  At this point, though, it looks like PAX is self-sustaining.  This growth rate is incredible.
