Nintendo Gaming / RE:Metroid Hunters!!!
« on: March 22, 2006, 02:38:37 PM »
The first battle with Kanden blew my mind I was just like wtf, his morph ball worm thing was awesome, and the first boss battle also made me go Woah!!! Yes if you haven't bought this game yet buy it, you will not regret it, I dont have many DS games but this is definitely the best one so far.

Although I have to add I hate this game. It made me think, holy crap what the hell is MP:3 gonna be like on the Rev. Maybe that's just me, but my anticipation just increased tenfold.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Why June will kick Sony's ass (speculation)
« on: March 22, 2006, 02:31:36 PM »
I hope they launch it on Aug. 13 that's my b-day and I wouldn't have to pay for it.

June seems too early, November is too late, but no matter when the Rev comes out PS3 will be strong. Their philosophy was, we want people to think, that no matter what the price I have to have it, and from what I'm hearing around the watering hole, campus, and my job, they seem to have achieved their goal. The Rev may take away some people but the PS3 will launch strong, unless some major flaw becomes apparent, but by that time it will alrdy launched strong. I hope the PS3 sinks under it's own considerable weight and the Rev brings Nintendo back to the glory days of old, but the launch isn't what's going to do it. It will be time.

I woke up at 8 a.m just so I could take a shower,  eat breakfast go to Gamestop and pick up my copy of Metroid Prime: Hunters. Just to be told it will be here tomorrow. Lovely. So not to waste a day I picked up Mario and Luigi. I think this was nintendo's plan, lure me into the store with the goal of buying Metroid, not having it be there, but before I asked a worker where the game was I browsed through the current collection, saw Mario and Luigi and said hey maybe i'll get that another day. I guess that day was today.

Oh the injustice of it all.

I still don't see it as being 100% necessary. This generation is going to be high on exclusives. Ports will be far and few between. If ninty is smart they'll just throw some dollars in the devs face and say hey when make our port make sure it can work without the shell. I see the shell as being a back-up plan. It's like hey 98% of our games won't need it all, and 99 percent of our userbase won't use it, but for those 2% of games and 1% of complainers we'll make this. I just don't see a need for it with the nunchuck, it's only one less button, and with the motion sensor working on the x,y,and z axis, the d-pad, and analog stick on the nunchuck, I don't even see a need to use it. I think it really is just a safety net for those few people who wouldn't be satisfied with the remote, and I think those people are going to have to pay extra for their peace of mind. Nintendo needs to show everyone, devs, gamers and press alike, that the remote really is a stand alone controller, if it isn't then why even make it?

I believe it's because that only proprietary games will use only the remote. For current genre's you need dual analog control, more buttons, and more control options. Also, going back to just how need the shell really is, a really good developer (hopefully nintendo does this first and does it well so that other follow) would use only the nunchuck and motion sensing for movement, and have the d-pad for four extra buttons, now, with those buttons, the a and trigger on the remote, and the two z buttons on the nunchuck you have 8 buttons. sounds good enough for me. If anything I believe that the console itself might come with the shell, but we'll probably see different bundlings of controllers. 1. just the revmote 2. revmote+nunchuck 3. revmote+shell 4. nunchuck+shell 5. revmote+nunchuck+shell 6-1,000 would be different combos of the aforementioned add-ons and new attachment for other games. Which is what I personally love about the Rev, the massive number of options. And don't start bitching about price, cuz with the money you save buying a rev to an xbox360 or a ps3 you could afford many many many controllers.

More game ideas please, those were good, not as good as the first ones imo, but good.

Now we're sitting on the same fence, cuz ur argument also makes a lot of sense.

If not, they alienate so many developers who will know that gamers will have to have bought additional hardware to use their games.

This is also the reason why the Rev should be the shoe-in console for EVERY lightgun game created: because every Revmote doubles as a lightgun.

They don't have to include it. IMO including the shell controller is saying the revmote was a half-assed idea. For all game genre I think the revmote + nunchuck will work. combined they have 6 buttons, one less than a GC controller and 2 less than the competition, not a big deal i think. The shell will be for those games that are released on all consoles, which from the looks of things won't be too many this generation. at e3 last year it was mentioned numerous times by the press how big exclusivety was going to be next-gen. I believe it, and don't care about the shelll too much. It takes away a lot from the revmote, and I don't believe it too be essential, only occasionally used, otherwise, like i said it says the revmote is just a sparkling innovation.

Didn't Reggie just say that you CAN NOT use (The) Revolution controller to play GameCube games? This leads me to think something else. Sonic and Knuckles lock on Technology. What if Zelda:TP Came with 2disc but it's really only one. The 8cm GameCube has 5 small points on it so it can fit in side a 4cm ring to make a 12cm disc for Revolution Gameplay. Its not that hard and the 12cm disc would still be sturdy and flush. I don't know how to explain it better but that's whats going to happen. And I'm taking all bets.

I'll put down 100 bucks.

The reason other GC games can't use the Rev controller is because they weren't programmed to use it. Much like how gb games don't use the shoulder buttons on the gba. and gba games don't use the x and y buttons on the ds. although they could be programmed to at this time.

Oh no if TP uses the revmote to play, isn't my arm going to get tired cuz i'm a lazy bum and don't think that arm movements are better than an analog stick? No i guess not, bring it on baby!!

 Very interesting article.

I'd pay money for all of those games, although I'd wait for the pgc review of the fps/rpg.

I think Ian has had his heart broken in the past and is now afraid of falling in love with anything that might once again break his frail heart. He puts up a defense of pre-disappointment so that he won't allow the beauty of a thing to affect him before it is too late, and he loves it for what is it. Innovation at it's highest, at this point in the video game world.

(everything before innovation is from some movie I saw, I've been trying to remember the name but can't)

Unfortunately those packages not only suck, they are necessary, and also protect the consumer.

They suck because they do their job. Waterproof, theftproof, and tamperproof. All good things come with a price.

I should of made myself clearer. I hate just about evey horror movie in existence, the acting is always of the lowest quality, with predictable endings, horrible plots, and worthless characters. But if they throw in excessive gore and nudity, hey I least I can get some entertainment from it.

Any new news on when the other colored ds lites will be here? If they ship less than they should again, i'm just going to wait until the american one ships. I'm working on my angry letter:

Dear Nintendo,
I love you guys. I hate you for not releasing enough ds lites, and for being skimpy on revolution details. Keep up the good work.

How's that?

Maryjane cautiously looks over his shoulder once again as he continues his search for allies. He feels the eyes of suspicion upon him and realizes his need is urgent. "Where are the boys in blue when you need them?" As a lonely man who only finds solice at the end of well rolled "cigar" he wonders who would kill bloodworth? Perhaps someone wishing to make MaryJane look guitly. His only regret as he leaves his fate in the hands of others, is being powerless to extract the just revenge on the one who is trying to frame him.

I vote for Dasmos

So just because you don't like the series you're going to miss out on one of the best fighting games, if not the best, for the gc? I do like the series, but even if i didn't the game is still good as a fighter. I hated the absolutely dreadful streetfighter movie, does that mean i'm not going to play the game? no.

Download a Mario game speedrun and while watching it hold a TV remote and flick your wrist everytime Mario jumps.  See how much fun that would be after a few minutes.

LoL, so tempting to make the joke.
Anyway, speedruns are no fun, I'm talking about typical gameplay, and freeing up buttons, and creating more gameplay opportunities and dimensions.
If the wrist movements are too much for anyone, just buy a ps3 and be happy.
And of course the revmote will come with a disclaimer about proper use, and not overusing and all that good kind of legal babble.

-Backwards compatibility with GC games
-The lowest price by far

That is reason enough to buy one for me. The new controller doesn't even factor into the equation so I fail to see how it's a "vehicle" for the new controller when it has so many of its own merits without the controller.

same here except i thought the dvd support was an add-on? something change and i didn't notice?

Arm fatigue? You serious? How lazy can you can be? But I guess you're right the last thing we need is more exercise. I hear it's really bad for your health. Besides, I bet your right forearm/wrist is really strong. jk.

What else can replicate that? I kind of get what your saying about replacing buttons with movements, but I disagree wholeheartedly. I think it's a great use of the revmote, mainly because it'll free up the other buttons for other things, making up for its lack of button, which is a common complaint.
