Ian, alcohol does have some redeeming qualities in that if you drink it in moderation it is good for your heart. As for fast food, I doubt it has any redeeming qualities except that its fast, cheap, and tastes good. I'm not against fast food at all and I don't think it should be crusaded against the way it is, but with that said I can't help but acknowledge that it probably isn't the best thing for you to eat health wise.... but that choice should be for everyone to decide for themselves.

Then again, with the eliminating of most trans fat in that sort of stuff Fast food really isn't as bad as it used to be. It is still bad though, but you know.

So Iwata just sold his company over to McDonalds of Japan in exchange for a cheeseburger?

Mother Brain is well endowed.

In intellect?

Looks like Iwata sold out to "the man" (whoever that is).

Yeah, importing stuff is definitely more costly and more of a hassle than just going to Wal-mart or Amazon (or whatever). I know its possible to import these games, but the majority of gamers (myself included) won't bother, so Nintendo is missing out on a lot of potential profit and gamers in NA are missing out on a potentially great game. There's no good reason for it, and NoA deserves strong criticism for this.

You guys have to act quick on Amazon's deal of the day, because apparently it lives up to its name and only lasts a day... lol.

Speaking of which, while I missed the DS Trauma Center deal, I would like to point out that today on Amazon they have some High School musical game for the Wii for just $9.99 or so, and it does allow free shipping (though you have to buy something else to get over the $25 threshold).

And Trauma Center 2 DS is the deal of the day at Amazon today for $10.

Am I too late? It says its $27.99 now... Damn!

I really hope that GTA Chinatown and Madworld's sales improve enough to the point where their developers will create sequels on Nintendo hardware. These are M rated games which are in very short supply on Nintendo hardware, so gamers better start buying these in greater numbers so we will see more.

As other Nintendo reps have said before him, Fils-Aime thinks Chinatown Wars may have been counted out too soon by people focusing on its launch numbers. "In the handheld space, with Nintendo platforms specifically — whether it's Game Boy Advance or Nintendo DS — the fact is that first month sales really don't matter," he said. "You have a title like Mario Kart, in its first month, a holiday month that did just over 200,000 copies. New Super Mario Brothers, which launched in the summer, did over 150,000 in its first month. Those are not huge numbers, yet both of those have gone on to sell more than four million units apiece and to be in the top 10 total industry titles for the last two years running. So, first month doesn't matter in the handheld space as long as it's a high-quality game, which Chinatown Wars is, has some continuous level of marketing support — whether its retail marketing, consumer marketing, online — as long as you keep the buzz going it will continue to sell millions and millions. And that's my expectation for Chinatown Wars. As long as the team at Take Two and Rockstar give it a long life, it will do very well."

Reggie said he would have liked to have seen higher sales for MadWorld but doesn't think its launch counts out other M-rated Wii games. "The challenge with home console is that for a 'gamer game' you need to have the buzz and the expectation early and you need to support the title for a number of months to drive the sales. On both of those fronts, I'm not sure MadWorld was able to do that."

What do you guys think? Is the Regster right, or should he stick to just kicking ass and leave the thinking stuff to the intellectuals? :reggie:

Quote from: Wired.com
Speaking exclusively to Wired.com, however, he said that he’s pushing the game’s developers to create a Zelda experience that requires the extra features.

“The goal at this point is that we would make Wii MotionPlus required in order to play Zelda,” he said.

It’s reasonable to assume that Zelda’s use of MotionPlus might depend on how many of the devices Nintendo sells between now and the game’s far-off release date. But Miyamoto says that’s not actually the case.

“The bigger hurdle for us is not really whether people have a Wii MotionPlus or don’t have it, it’s whether or not the experience is one where people will think they want to have a Wii Motion Plus in order to experience it,” he said.

more of the interview at the link above.

But it looks like Zelda Wii will most likely require M+, so hopefully that means that Nintendo will start bundling it in with the system.

If that is true, it's completely opposite of what Miyamoto said at the roundtable. He had said the next Zelda would only use Wii MotionPlus if enough people had it.

I don't see Nintendo including Wii MotionPlus ever with the system. Don't forget (as Stratos said) that The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask required the N64 RAM Expansion Pack in order to play it buy Nintendo didn't bundle it with the system. Whenever Nintendo sells a game that requires a accessory they just bundle it with the accessory.

But what if more than one game makes use of it? Should the accessory be bumdled with each game? The problem there is a gamer could end up with many more M+ things than he needs or would ever use...

Metroid Prime made me a Metroid "fan."

Only with Prime did Metroid become relavant by appealing to real Zelda fans.

I don't see how you figure that when Zelda was never a 1st person shooter. Metroid and Super Metroid were basically LoZ set in Space...

Midna was the only character that was remotely interesting, but I wouldn't want to revisit that Hyrule again any time soon.

I kinda agree.. Those other characters who are heroes like Link that go around and investigate the strange goings-on probably have a lot of interesting depth, but they are such minor characters that they don't really get a chance. Nintendo franchises have no trouble introducing lots of new characters, but what's missing is the depth. We had that with Midna, but what about all these other characters? What are their back stories? Unfortunately, we will probably never see or hear from or about them again in any future Zelda game, so that really sucks....

Um, the DSi has no virtual console type thing...

Why'd you have to go and kill my buzz? *cry*

I like how the PR for this game has been handled.  They show the trailer, reveal Team Ninja as the dev and although the reaction to the trailer is mostly postive there is doubt and concern about it feeling like a "real" Metroid game.  So they acknowledge that and address the concerns.  As time has gone by more has been revealed and every time it makes me feel more confident in the game and more interested.  It's gone from "oh **** they farmed off Metroid to another dev" to "this is my most anticipated game!"

So does this mean you were more or less satisfied with this year's E3 announcements, and that you are still a Nintendo fan? I remember you said this year's E3 would be "make or break" for you.

6290
Since this thread has been bumped I just want to say that now that there's a DSi with its virtual console type thing, HOPEFULLY Nintendo will see some logic in releasing that so that North Americans can finally play this game. Unfortunately, it seems like they won't port it here for whatever reason, but to toss it on a VC thing doesn't really take much effort, so here's hoping...

There wasn't a water area in MP3. Never happening

There's lava. But Samus is so hot that she would make the lava turn to steam. The armor isn't there to protect her; its to protect the lava FROM her.

She still looks hawt.

Yeah, but she's hot only because we know what is hiding underneath the armor. ;) We can't see it, which sucks, but knowing its there is cool..

That said, I wish Nintendo would bring back the code to have her in a bikini. Now that we have a Metroid game in 3rd person having her in a bikini would actually matter, so they'd better do it.

The only downside of her armor is it gives her broad-shoulders and a not very feminine form.

The third unannounced race had better be the Japanese.

While I'm sure that discussing Nintendos past voice acting is exciting it really isn't about the new Zelda game.

So this is likely to use Motion Plus. What Zelda weapons do you think would work well with Motion Plus? Any ideas on a new Zelda weapon that could use Motion+?

Voice acting has potentially as much to do with this new Zelda as Motion+ does. If we aren't allowed to go "off topic", why should you be allowed to?

The tiger or the burglar in the commercial? If you ask me, the tiger bears a resemblance to actor Ben Kingsley...

So this is a new Lord of the Rings movie starring Patrick Stewart?

That's the impression I got from watching this trailer.

This would probably be just as stupid of a peripheral as the original R.O.B. was and even if it were released it probably would only have one or two games that supported it, but on the other hand it is worth noting that robotics have advanced by enormous leaps and bounds since the mid-1980s, so if Nintendo actually did release a Robotic Buddy for the Wii it could be far more advanced and far more capable than R.O.B. was on the NES.

It could be something that communicates wirelessly with the Wii via the same bluetooth technology that the Wii-mote runs on, so this means the Wii R.O.B. wouldn't have wires to get tangled up in. It could actually be able to communicate with you verbally via speech synthesizers built into its body and give you advice and stuff for the games you are playing, or perhaps even play against you via a tiny wii-mote and chuck built into his robotic hands. He would be great to have if you wanted to play a multiplayer game but didn't have any friends over.

But other than that, I have no idea what a Wii R.O.B. could actually do to justify its existence.

They should make it so a player could be Yoshi and then another player could ride around on his back. That would be the ultimate in co-op.
