They are real. I remember reading the entire article in whatever magazine it was in through the use of scans and seeing those exact pictures on some of the pages.

In fact, each screen took up about 1/12 of the entire page, so you can imagine how small the shots were and how bad the resolution must of been.

Second of all, sure they're not pretty, but you can definitely see some lighting in that last scan. Overall, I could give a sh#t simply because I am so hyped up on the gameplay that I don't have time to be bothered with petty graphics.

I had to make this topic due to it being such a fun topic.

I must say, I know alot of people who use drugs (mostly maryjane....yes I'm also talking about you maryjane) and play videogames.

The certian types of drugs people use doesn't exactly have to be illegal. I know a bunch of people who love to get drunk and play videogames, simply because that sh*ts halarious. Same goes with ganja....

Anyways, the topic of discussion is: Why not make a videogame for stoners? or boozers? or the people who love to trip balls? or all three?

Sure it's provacative, but shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.................I'd buy it.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit...........I'd buy it if it simply had crazy ass music with something akin to MilkDrop from winamp as the only thing projected on screen.

Anyways, there's alot of people who use drugs of some kind, so why not except it and embrace it?

I got one...

Controlling the Arwing with the NRC:

Pointing the nose of the NRC, points the nose of the Arwing and also allows you to turn. Moving the NRC up, down, left and right moves the Arwing across the screen in a similiar fashion.

Now imagine Chasing 4 badass enemies as you navigate your way through a canyon. The walls start to crumble as your shooting down your enemies, adding obstacles that you must avoid. A huge rock begins to decend....you must BOOST TO GET THROUGH, but also dive below the boulder, but also be aware not to touch the running river water or you WILL DIE!

ahem...

As you continue, the canyon starts to turn widly! Left, then right, then a half circle left, then right! More obstacles approach as you continue to kill those bastards your chasing. Some of the canyon sticks out,or some of it branches across, making you dodge it accordingly.

I think you get the jist of it.

"I still kind of wish Nintendo had packed a bit more power into this new system, but the controller has me way more excited than the power of the competing machines."

I've been saying the same thing myself. However, do you realize how small the Revolution is?

All I'm saying is that if it is as tiny as everyone is saying and as quiet as Nintendo is saying then I'll most likely end up astonished that the graphics it produces came out of such a tiny system.

Imagine Starfox spliced with F-zero (the level where you dodge boulders as you race the samurai)....

Badass right?!

This game has huge POTENTIAL!

Good point, and that's exactly why I'm going to turn off the cursor once/if I get this game.

I don't know what you nay sayers are talking about, but the graphics look wonderful. They're not OMG! but there definitely enough for me. Actually, the thing that really impresses them in.

Those scans really impressed me. I can't wait to see what Nintendo has in store!

That's an interesting point SB...

I actually think Iwata is enough of a diplomat to do that. Of course holiday's are fair game, but during the summer months, for example, coordination among Nintendo and it's 3rd parties would not only benefit them, but also us due to there never being a drought.

"There's a cursor on the screen so you can see where you're shooting at all times (though, I would like an expert mode to disable it) and I'd bet that this is what will serve as your means of moving the camera."

If there's a cursor, I will be severely dissapointed (unless I can turn it off).

There are a few things that kind of bug me.
"-Tracing an X in the air, for instance, will unleash a devastating attack
-You signal 'yes/no' answers by nodding the controller up or down or shaking it from side to side"

Those two features sound very much like assigning gestures for actions.  Is there really any need for this sort of stuff?  It just looks like using the remote just because it's there.  It's not emersive to trace an X or nod with the controller.  That's the sort of stuff I don't want to see that much because it's just g!mmicky and lame.  But this game clearly makes up for it with the aiming which makes perfect sense.  I figure some remote usage will be like analog stick gas pedals in that initially everything will use the remote and then over time they'll balance things out as it becomes clear that in some cases a different method would work better.

I agree mostly with what you said, but your argument lacks foundation.

Your annoyed by the fact that gestures may replace buttons. That is a good reason to bitch. Honestly, that's basically all you ever talk about when the NRC is brought up...but I digress.

You must first notice that the "X" comment was most likely a simple example.

Now, I am almost positive you will not make gestures in the traditional sense of the word. Instead, as you are swinging from top left to bottom right with your NRC, you can make the reciprical motion to start a devastating flurry that may need you to continue attacking. The comment (paraphrased) "you can stop the combo when ever you like to defend by simply stopping your motion" backs up this belief.

I truly believe that these combos only need special activation swings because they involve an insane amount of sword skill and aerobatics that most likely noone who plays videogames posseses.

Requiem and nemo (and others) made controller mock-ups that were quite similar to the NRC. I think the Zelda forward compatibility thing started in these threads a long, long time ago. And anyone remember BlackGriffen and his "long tail" thing before the VC was revealed? And our discussion has lead to many other good ideas.

Nintendo of Canada directly linked to one of our threads too

EDIT: Oops, I replied to this thread before reading the previous 10 or so posts. I can now say that this thread has devolved into something well beyond my reach.

So true IceCold.

When we make a point, it is not only well defined but also well written. We've had some amazing posts, and honestly, reading everyones' opinions on here is the main reason I come here. We contribute to the discussion and analyze a topic far more than many other sites. That said, it is always interesting.

That's exactly what I was getting at. That's very intuitive, otherwise it would feel a little like a Link to the Past with all the screen changing/turning.

The thing that gets me most excited is not the actual use of the controller, but how much thought Ubisoft put into using the controller.

It's hard to explain, but let me start off with a qoute.

"Unlike other FPS games, which tie the camera and aiming together, Red Steel's camera follows your aim with a slight delay."

That's brilliant. Most people would have been pleased with simply transplanting the NRC into a FPS with control similar to a mouse. However, Ubisoft took the time to notice how insanely intuitive and badass a slightly delayed camera would be.

Think about it. Let's say I want to shoot four guys: one up top, one down low, and two to the left and right. If the camera had no delay, shooting everyone would still be easy, but more nauseating. Adding a delay lets you shoot everyone on screen without your viewpoint changing. This will help your accuracy.

That example is what gets me really excited. They are already MASTERING how to use the NRC.

One more thing.....If Ubisoft can come up with this exciting new gameplay, what do you think Nintendo has in store for us at E3?!

Hype train!

The bow doesn't need a pointer or crosshairs.

The aim can still be centered on the screen, except this time Link's arms are the tracers towards the middle.

It'll be hard to get use to, but then again, would you have it any other way. Plus, if there was a laser pointer, the NRC would make it entirely WAY TOO EASY for you to aim.

Just imagining RE4 with the NRC makes it seem really easy. HeadShot! Headshot! headSHoT!

It should be RE4 style.

Imagine playing RE4.....

Now Imagine playing RE4 with the NRC as your tool to aim.....

Ya, that's exactly what I'm talking about. Zelda could change the camera and make it even better. While running around, it could be just like WW in that you use the NRC to spin the camera or zoom in and out. As you lock on or pull out a bow, the camera swoops down to link's left shoulder (since he is left-handed).

That's it really, and it would feel like Zelda has upgraded by leaps and bounds.

I'd like to end this argument, if I may.

I think both sides are ignoring what the NRC has been said to do.

During the madness that was TGS, many editors said that the NRC could require nothing but little wrist flicks or movements. In fact, most of the demos previewed by the editors used very little movement at all. The NRC has the abilitiy to dull the sensitivity making it so that you would have to swing like crazy, however, the sensitivity is so accurate that most games won't need anything more than wrist movement.

1up.com

"IMPRESSIONS: A great demonstration of how intuitive the controller can be-pointing it to aim felt perfectly natural, right from the very first second, just like with a light gun. It always shot exactly where it felt like I was aiming, and was incredibly responsive to even slight wrist movements-I barely had to move my hand at all."

"IMPRESSIONS: At first, I was standing up and swinging my hand all around to aim - and my arms got really tired really quick. But once I sat down and relaxed, resting my hands on my legs as I would with a normal controller, everything clicked."

Wash.

Haha. The way you post reminds me of adult swim.

Nintendo would be stupid to ignore the relationship between the DS and the REV. I want to see the VC become a fully realized feature with a robust system.

Playing Sega and Nintendo games on your DS, on the go? What could be better?

Also, Nintendo has been developing games since the first the controller was realized. When was that? I don't know. However, I do know for a fact that Camelot announced that they were making a REV game in an interview shortly after the release of Mario Tennis.

Wasn't that like 2 years ago?

Does it really matter if the REV has one more secret or not?

I don't know about you, but I am pretty content with the REV. Much more than say, the PS3 or 360. If Nintendo gave us detailed information about the things that they've already mentioned then I'd be even more content.

How does the Virtual Console work?
What games are planned for the service?
How does online in general work?
What does the HUD look like?
How will games really play?
What developers are making games?
What will launch look like?
What is the price, release date, and name of the console?
How will the console be bundled? Will it have both the nunchaku and shell attachment?
Will the DS and REV connect to each other? If so, what are the possibilities, and what is actually being done?
What does the shell look like? How will it play? Are there any other planned attachments

If they answered those questions at E3, then I would be the happiest gamer alive.

Honestly, who needs another secret?

1324
Blizzard needs to make a RTS for the REV or I will be pissed.

Honestly, what console is more suited to that type of play than the REV? Even PC's might be worse when compared to the REV.

I would of like the GC logo better if it used more flourescent colors and more contrast in colors. Such as black and neon blue....

That said, it was genious.

I like that D-pad logo alot. It should be the virtual console logo.
