TalkBack / RE: Ubisoft Announces Seven Wii Launch Titles
« on: August 04, 2006, 05:11:04 AM »
I think Ubisoft is going a little more longterm with this.  This is a great way to get our support early.  Plus knowing that in the third party arena at least they have little competition and the lack of even real hints that these games where coming out I doubt they send something unpolished.  Personally they'll probably keep these on the shelf for a while.

And do any of you remember BlackGriffen's Long Tail thread before E3 2005 when the Virtual Console was announced? Where is that guy, anyway?
I'll first need to read it.

Edit: Read the first post.  I agree and is Nintendo using that as a manual?

PoP... Trilogy... lol... PoP has been around for a very very long time.  I never beleived it would stop with just those three.  Hopefully they'll just start from scratch with a redesign.

Wow.  "The game that should not have existed" actually came in handy.  Who would of known.   Fun thought thouch if the FMV uses only one screen it could use the other graphic processor to possibly help with the decompression.  Allowing for more complicated compression.

The art style, I think, works very well for the feel of this series.

I don't know if it's true or not but TV's like cars you need to see before buying.  I wouldn't just go and plop down money on a TV over the internet until I've went to the store and took a look.

I got mine for about $450 2 or so years ago.  It was originally 6something but I stacked a lot of discounts and price matching.  It's a 27".

You know the TV your looking at looks like my brothers.  It has a component input but it's your traditional 4:3 TV.  It will black bar when you put it in 16:9 mode.  I think it will do 480p on his.  As I mentioned before I find a place that has it and take a look at it.  If you still seriously want it ask if you could see the manual and it should tell you it's capacities.  I personally get one that would at least do 480p and 1080i.  That way you can benefit from an HDTV source, 720p is not as important because I always hear that 1080i looks better anyway and 1080p TV's are like buying a tuba or small car.  I think you would be more satisfied if you just spent the extra and stepped up into their HD-Ready category.  Though I can't stress enough the importance of going to see the TV in real life.

You might find one you like more or the picture might not be up to your expectations.

Edit:  Maybe something like this
It seems the models with the H in them are Toshibas HDTVs and the ones with the A or the traditonal analog.

Wind Waker was 12 bucks at K-Mart.
Rayman 3 is good.  I don't know how old your nephew is.  You might want to play a little to see if the language is ok for him (It lets up after the beginning).
DDR: Mario Mix.  This is actually one of my favorite DDR's.  (I have most of them for the PS2) Not because its particularly great for a DDR but it's a good beginner one and unlike all the others actually has a story mode that mixes things up. Ok, has a story mode period.
Battalion Wars.  If you think he's developed enough for it.
PSO.  What's more fun then killing things? over and over again.
Four Swords.  I enjoyed this game even alone.

I would suggest all of these above.  You know how to read the rankings and use them accordingly but your nephews age would be nice because those might be too advanced.

buy an xbox

Why?  Nothing really appeals to me on the XBox.
You wanted suggestions.

I mean you could scare him with Eterneal Darkness
Heighten his awareness of the Female Form with P.N. 03
Open up the GBA Library with Gameboy Player
Introduce him to a post apocalyptic futures with Megaman X Collection
If he wasn't frustrated enough with that one you could always give him Viewtiful Joe
Show him the only good card base battle system with Baten Kaitos

I love my CRT HDTV.  If it only had HDMI hook-ups and 720 and 1080p support it be perfect.  I haven't found a TV yet that has a better picture.  Seen plenty bigger and lighter but not a better picture can be found.  It's a couple years old now and I think picture on TV as a whole have gotten worse since I got it.  So I'm happy I did.  That's why I'm going to wait for this technology.  Because I'm spoiled and don't have a big living room.  Seriously enough you really need to look at the picture in person before you buy to see if you like it.  Big is one thing but you have to consider how you going to watch it.  Just take those things in account.

For the Record I think the original DS is plenty small.  I can carry it around in my normal Jean pocket.

Especailly since I'm pretty sure it's based off of flash technology and that's been getting cheaper like Nintendo predicted. (Though the always could use the GBA slot to have a cartridge that holds them all.)

You know I considered myself a "Hardcore" gamer.  I spent most of my childhood playing games and everyone can tell how much I'm here.  But I've come to the realization that a "Hardcore" gamer is know more of a Jock type person and aren't interested in what us older "Hardcore" gamers like.  So I'm declaring myself "OldCore".

It won't "Upconvert"  It will stretch them to fit the screen but you can change that so that it sticks with the true 480, gets gray bars.  HD Channels will put black bars on the 480 stuff.  Thats what my CRT HD-TV does from them.
