Nintendo Gaming / RE:Something that bugs me (about games on the Wii)
« on: February 06, 2007, 02:23:30 PM »
I think the crap part was something to worry about at launch.  Now that Wii is becomeing so popular, sure their might be some crap games come out, but there will be a lot of great games that will be made just for Wii or with Wii in mind instead of being a quick port.  With ease of devolpment, there is no reason developers can't make good games with good controls.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo's Message on your Wii about wrist straps
« on: February 06, 2007, 02:17:54 PM »
OK?....At about 9:10 pm CST, I recieved a message on my Wii from nintendo stating the following

Nintendo has received some reports that when consumers swing the Wii Remote witht he original version of the wrist-strap using excessive force and accidentally let go, the cord connecting the controller to the wrist strap can break.  Nintendo has made a new version of the Wii Remote wrist strap available to replace the original one used in early product shipments.

It then gives the phone number and website you can call or visit to determain if you need to replace your straps.

I could be wrong but....isn't this news about a month or two late?  Is this a good move for Nintendo to state how the first straps are ineffect "defective".  The one place that may save them is by stateing "using excessive force".

Did anyone get a message on their Wii from Nintendo?

NEVER EVER PRE-ORDER GAMES!!!!!!!!!

It's just a way for game stores to get your money and lets face it, when do games ever sell out where you can't buy them anywhere?

The only reason you should ever pre-order a game is if they give you something extra for nothing for the pre-order.  A T-Shirt, Zelda Ocarina of time bonus disk.....whatever.

If they want your money early......make em earn it!!!!

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Anybody have Call of Duty 3?
« on: February 05, 2007, 06:01:07 AM »
I rented it and played it for awhile, and I thought it was a great game.  The FPS controls are a lot better than Red Steel.  The Graphics I thought were real good.  The only thing bad is it's kinda hard to throw grenades with the nun-chuck, but that option is automatically turned off, so it's not like you have to live with it.

Another bad thing is it has absolutly no multi-player.  Obviously no online, but it has no co-op, or split  screen

Many people said the game looked horrible, but i didn't think so.....I definitly thing all FPS should use this control method instead of Red Steel or Far Cry which is even worse.

I would like to remind people that a PS2 had less superior hardware than a GameCube, yet...for whatever reason, more people bought a PS2.  I think we can all admit that Turok: Evolution looked ok, But it was crap!!! dispite it's "graphics"

We must remember that "Graphics" don't apply to only polygon count.  Graphics just simply means appeal to the common eye.  I think developer's should always focus on game engines, story, and gameplay in general first before they focus on graphics.  Time and time again I get so pissed off when it seems developers didn't play their games first before they released it.  When it comes to Boss battles that are so rediculously hard that it takes 20 trys before you get passed, I want stratigy and puzzle solving like a Zelda TP boss  battle.  I really don't want to hear about any crybaby that says it was "too easy".  It's suppossed to be easy when you figure out how to defeat a boss, not exponetially harder.

ok, I understand what you mean.  However, those games have  a little bit of weight behind them....thats why people say they were disapointed.  Because those games have a reputation that they are going to be good or something worth buying.  If I see a game on VC that i've never heard of, I need to demo it somehow if its watch gameplay video, read a preview or review for the game, or the most pratical and helpful, a gameplay demo.

See, big name titles most of us probley don't demo, however, we always buy them with an idea of what it's going to be like

example, well, they made this game, or it's like this game, or it's the sequal to this game, so i'm pretty sure it's going to be good.

we demo 50 dollar games in different ways such as commercials, E3 news, actual gameplay video, actual gameplay pics, early impressions.

Thats all i'm saying is we expect a certain level from some of the games cause we more than likely have heard about them somehow

For some reason my Mortal Kombat Deception disk does not want to play, it plays fine in my gamecube though.  I'm not real sure if it's an issue considering it has some scratches on it.  Whats more of an issue is how did it get all the scratches on it.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:FPS programmers lazy?
« on: January 27, 2007, 04:37:12 PM »
I have to say my problem with Red Steel was the fact the pointer had to go ALL the way to the edge of the screen before you turned, and when you turned...it was one speed.  When you play a FPS you turn different speeds a lot, if i were to describe it I would say it was like turning first.....pointing and shooting second.

Call of Duty 3 I thought had a very good method.  Basically if you had the pointer in the middle of the tv....you didn't turn.  Then the further out from the center you got you started to turn, and the more from the center, the faster you turned.  The only flaw I found was it was hard to keep from moving as the "center" was a small spot.

I think two improvements that need to be made is somehow fix it so i'm not spinning out of control when the remote doesn't see the sensor bar anymore, and probley make the "center" a little bigger so the screen isn't always moving so much, but still has an analog turning.

I guess I have to eat a little crow here when I said we wouldn't see it cause thats not what VC was ment for....however

I do wana ask, how is anyone going to buy a game that they can't demo first.  I'm guessing that is how it will be.  Unless the game is free to download, which I really doubt, what makes them think people are going to up and buy a game they know nothing about.

Amazingly enough, the article somehow managed not to mention Nintendo or the Wii once in the entire thing.  I'm not sure how that's possible.

there won't be unless or until they provide USB hard drive or thumb drive support.

Also, has anyone else had a lot of trouble getting mp3's to play in photo channel.  For some reason, photo channel is very picky with my mp3's. I have a little over 500 songs but only about 100 play in photo channel

Of course, a lot more of them play in Excite Truck.

Maybe it will be a redesign that will move the 1 and 2 buttons where the speaker is and the speaker where they were making them better to press, but at the same time, it wouldn't be that convenient "NES" like when tilted........idea withdrawn
