Nintendo Gaming / RE:The Legend of Zelda 2005 Preorder Ideas

I think i would kill for a nice "History of The Legend Zelda".  Interviews, concept art, actual in depth stuff about how this all started.  make it like 2 hours long, better yet make it a 4 disc set like those Lord of the rings extended DVD sets, lol.

Well doesn't a evolution require something new like a third eye, so i don't think a larger nose or pointed ears counts as evoloution.

Ian, i didnt even think about the controllers issue.

You got me there.

Maybe one day Wireless connections ie DS 100ft lan could just replace the need for controllers, then again i don't think people would be happy about buying the system in order to have a 2nd or 3rd let alone 4th controller, lol.

So in other words i think your words (Ian) has shut me up for now, lol.

What about IGN!

The new E3 awards shows Conker's Live and Reloaded as best overall graphics over DOOM3, Resident Evil4, HalfLife2, etc.  I saw CLR and the graphics were not that great it was okay but even timepslitters 3 had about the same graphic prowess.

Also they had PSP over DS by large margin.  PSP had 12 votes and DS 6 and AlienWare got 2 votes for best hardware/pheripherial.  And quoting that most of their editors thought that the PSP is the evoloution of handheld gaming.  Umm how is a evoloution if it is really just the same old same old except with better graphics and larger screen?

And Halo got game of show.  Ok yeah great game and all but the game has no originality at all.  Everything this game has has been ripped off of other games.  The only new additions include Live Support, dual guns, new vehicles, new guns, more maps.  Online play for FSP isnt new, dual guns is certainly not new (goldeneye, perfect dark, etc) vehicles are original though, and guns well perfect dark still wallops halo in this aspect, and maps perfect dark still wins here too.  So how does this sequal deserve best of show?

IGN = Anti Gaming (LOL)

Well even with all this bad news or whatever.  The game deserves better.  I really hope Nintendo pushes this game.  I would love to see some of the cutscenes used in some commercials!

Hey i was curious about Fire Emblem.  Ive played Advance Wars alot and i loved Golden Sun and im really starting to get into more and more Rpgs.  So in turn i was wondering is Fire Emblem a good game for me to get?

Ive heard the game is alot like Advance Wars.  How and how is it not like AW?  How is it better or worse than AW?

SoA style?  Thats not a style of promoting a game, thats just purely no attempt at promoting a game.  I thought this game was developed by the same team that did Xenosaga, u think people would at least give BK more of a try if it was developed by them.

If i remember correctly at E3, the Nintendo rep told me:

1. yes it's real.
2. no seriously we are making this game.
3. no joke, stop asking me the SAME QUESTION!
4. we don't have it playable.
5. we will have it playable by next E3.

That makes me wonder about the japanese market.  Are they as mainstream as the U.S or worse?  Or is the majority hardcore?  Seriously the industry really needs to start better informing us.  Maybe we should get a tv show on broadcast television that isn't biased and is totally hardcore.  G4 doesnt count they seem to be very biased.

I just hope to god there is a good amount of games for its launch.

By the way seeing how SquareEnix is able to get games to GBA and DS does that mean RARE could make games for DS?  If so i would love to see conker again.  Or even better a straight port of Perfect Dark from N64 with added touch screen ability such as in Metroid Prime: Hunters!

1214
If 25% of people who own GBA buy A DS......

true that would be a large number, and a impressive start for Nintendo too.

I only threw in the comment about "If 25% of people who own PS2 buy a PSP" so i don't look to fanboy, but in the end if u knew me i would be Nintendo Fanboy #1.  Although a fan, i try to put some thought as i flame Sony or the occasional Xbox.  In otherwords im a intelligent fanboy, lol.

I dunno all i can think about is that Nintendo has too many advantages, BIG ADVANTAGES.

1.  At the least Nintendo will have 3 months advantage.
2.  Nintendo brand Handhelds own the market place.
3.  Battery Life.
4.  Touch Pad.
5.  GAMES (Sorry but from what ive heard PSP is gonna be port city).
6.  Voice Recognition.
7.  100ft lan, plus WiFi compatability.
8.  Backwards Compatibility.
9.  Developer praise (from what ive heard DS is better, but then again thats what developers been saying about the GCN).

On the other hand PSP:

1.  Movies.
2.  Music.
3.  Larger screen.
4.  Awesome Graphics.
5.  Joystick.
6.  sexier design.
7.  WiFi compatability.

Thats about all i can see on PSP upside, and frankly i don't care about the movies cause i can't watch my dvds i have to buy new umd movies, and for music i already have a cd player and mp3 player.  The joystick by the way didnt feel all that good (i went to E3).  So basically the only real thing that intrests me about the PSP is it's graphics and screen size.

IMO Sony will need to really waste alot of money on advertisements and commercial time because it's gonna be hard to get a mass amount of people to buy a PSP for $299.  Heck i think Sony would have a very hard time on it's own competing with the GBA.

I seriously think that Sony has the same uphill climb as Ngage does well to a certain degree anyways.  Then again if 25% of the people that own PS2 buy a PSP that would be some trouble for the DS.

I totally agree with you Ian but i think that portables will one day take over consoles.

Think about it if they were able to create a portable that can do a consoles job then the portable systems would replace consoles altogether and of course the portable could just connect to a tv, then that would replace the consoles for sure.

As for the DS, PSP is really the system that is obsolette.  Graphics or not its like voting for a president by his looks over his smarts.  Imagine having some blonde haired, big chested, and dumb as a brick as our president.  We would all call for a recall in like .000001 seconds!!!!!

1217
Nintendo did say that the DS would be a third pillar supposedly connecting all three for something cool.  I wonder what could come of a DS GCN connection for future games.

Not to mention it will play smoother and better on a console.  Handhelds shouldn't be about current system ports (thats just plain stupid).  At least old ports (Super Mario 1,2,3,etc) have a reason to be made, which is that us old school gamers want to play them and the new generation might find playing a classic to be good.  But why play a PSP version of a PS2 version game, its just silly really.

1219
I didnt even think about load times.

LOAD TIMES ON A PORTABLE HANDHELD SYSTEMS!

Thats not something i want at all, heck Load times and Portable Handheld Systems shouldn't even be in the same sentence!

Portables are fast fun on the go.

IMO if load times are anywhere near as bad as any PS2 games then any gameboy users will really be turned off by the PSP.

By the way i predict SquareEnix to support DS more than PSP, mainly due to the fact that the PSP will eat away at the battery for games that need to stream movies and such (cutscenes) which will discourage any developer to use any movies at all.

Getting a free game isn't an impossibility.

Microsoft set up a program similar to that.
www.microsoft.com/retail
If you can confirm that u work in a store that sells any microsoft products u can sign up for the program.  Basically the program lets u take quizes about new products and other info that retail stores should know about like sales promotions.  Every completed quiz gets u points and points add up to free games or other goodies.

So its not an impossibility, then again microsoft can waste some money on this program (a program that is probably costing them too much).  Heck i use the program to get xbox games and get store credit at other stores and get GCN games, lol.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Nintendo DS Game Ideas

As much as i would want new game ideas never possibly created until the DS arrival, I would love to see RTS(real time strategy) games.  Imagine Warcraft, Starcraft, C&C alert, etc all playing on DS with some new twists along with them of course such as an ability to have one screen always at your base or one screen always on your opponents base, or have one screen split in four and show where your team is ie team1, team2, team3, team4.

And of course I would like to see how MMORPG would work on the DS, ahem pokemon ahem, hack cough, pokemon.  That would be a giant DS seller especially since that Wireless online thing would sure get a kick from it.

But from a original type game how about a sword fight game.  Basically the stlus pen would be wielded like metroid primes game so u basically stab by holding a poking motion and swinging with slashes and hacks would just be the draging motions.  Just a thought ive had, I've always wanted a sword fighting game with the ability to command your own blocks and attacks.

Another idea i have for the DS is for the Tony Hawk Series.  Basically the top screen is where u see the action and the bottom is where u use ur fingers or stylus to make ur own tricks via movements across the touch screen something on the lines of that Top Skater game in the arcades made by sega.  It would probably be very hard to do but if done well i think it would be very cool.

I'm pretty sure both can be in 3-d,  I saw video with Samus in 3-d standing having half her body on the top screen and the other on the 2nd screen.  I do realize though that video really didn't look like it was running on DS hardware but it surely implies that the system can.  Nintendo did say during the video that the screen can be used so a character can stand up and be displayed into both screens.

In other words im 99.9% sure u can run 3-d on both screens at the same time especially since they both run off of their own processors and such.

After seeing and physically playing the DS at E3 all i have to say is that if PSP sells better then the gaming industry is simply down the drain.  If PSP sells better then i guess the next console systems should strap on some bikinis and forget about the games alotogether.

Everyone here already knows that the game industry is at a sad state.  If innovation is beaten by graphics then the industry will be like the movie industry, same old thing over and over again but with younger actors and better special effects, and alot of old movie remakes.

Seriously if u stand back and look around, ask yourself what games this generation have been really innovative?  Majority of games now are copies of other games (GTA wannabes, Unreal engine useres, War games, etc).

IMO Nintendo DS is the only true thing in the game industry today that is truly innovative.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Wi Fi = DS Live?
« on: May 17, 2004, 08:16:26 PM »
I'm pretty sure that if Nintendo put hotspots in Gamestores, the gamestores should welcome the idea without Nintendo having to pay.  Think about it, the hotspot would bring gamers to their store, it would be like a cool little meetup or something.  Customers would likely buy from their stores if they had a hotspot.  It's all about loyalty and you know everyone in the game industry has some degree of loyalty to something.  Basically its a win win situation for Nintendo and Gamestores to have the hotspots.  But depending on how much it will cost me for a wireless lan i might just make my own hotspot or whatever (I'm still not sure if this is how it works, lol).

i read that already but it didnt clear everything up for me.

As a Nintendo customer i really want to know do i need to buy anything to go online (router, service charge)?

How do i connect to hotspots?

How far can i be from the hotspot?

Will Nintendo be launching alot of hotspots?

Is WiFi the best way to go online?
