Hiya random person! Do you wanna be my friend and play Super Smash Bros. Brawl?

Isn't that basically how the internet works? Real life can't be that different... although I admit I haven't tried it.

1v1 with items would be fine. I don't see how leaving out items would help, anyway. And while 4-player online would be nice, I don't see it as a deal-breaker.

Kind of funny, because the whole point of the "dreck" was to break up the monotony of the battles.

I think Adventure Mode was a good concept that was imperfectly executed, so I hope they do a better job with that idea in Brawl. I wouldn't want them to cut it completely.

Also, Mario and Kirby holding hands... I wonder if there will be a 2-player co-op story/adventure mode. I would really like that.

General Gaming / RE: Are Video Games Art?

Not every game is art, just like not every photograph is art, but I'd say Video Games are (or at least, can be) an art form.

The other great DS Homebrew is ScummVM, which lets you play some of the classic point&click adventure games.

Because the opposite isn't happening. When gamers complain about their non-games not having enough depth Nintendo doesn't address that. The non-games are for non-gamers and Nintendo isn't making any effort to make those more appealing to gamers.

I don't feel that's the case. Third parties aren't really trying to make their non-games appeal to gamers as much, but things like Brain Age and WarioWare: Smooth Moves are filled with the same little touches and replayability that has made Nintendo great. Nintendo is trying to blur the line between gamers and non-gamers, and I do believe that they want it going both ways.

Yeah, I was kind of "meh" about TTYD, because it just felt less fresh than Paper Mario, so I can see how that would work exactly the same with one going from TTYD back to the first one. I'm glad either way that SPM decided to shake up the gameplay.

I'd really like to see a SMRPG2 that's co-developed by SqEnix and Nintendo, finding some kind of middle ground between the different series. I don't think the modern Square lives up to the 90s square, but they do still know a thing or two about... cinematic presentation? So they could still turn the Mario World on its side in an interesting way. And Nintendo could make sure the game is actually fun to play.

Yeah, this one didn't really seem to "click" with its own style like some of the others do. I'd really like it if each piece of music was done in a totally different way.

Have I mentioned yet how appropriate it would be to have Kirby's theme played by an Oompah band as a polka?

I definitely want a new Yoshi's Safari. Or at least, the old Yoshi's Safari on VC.

A new one would be a great chance to bring back the Koopa Kids as well.

Oddly enough, to tie this back to an earlier bit in this thread: Having NPCs talk at you as if they don't expect you to respond is a common occurrence in first-person adventure games.

"Hello, my friend. I'm so glad that you've returned..."

Why don't companies make side-scrolling co-op brawlers anymore?

I especially think that genre would be perfect for an anime licensed game, instead of doing a 1-on-1 fighter every time.

Seems like it ought to be part of a compilation or something.... Although, who knows. People play "Scrabble" on computers. Maybe people will enjoy this.

Hopefully it includes the "truth or dare Jenga" version as well. In fact, they should really be including every conceivable variation of Jenga.

Okay, so I bought an Action Replay, mostly for this, and I have to say, it's a fun little easter egg, but not worth buying an Action Replay if you aren't going to use it for anything else. Fortunately, you can also cheat in other games, so if you've been thinking about getting it, it might be worthwhile.

To confirm what the AR code does:
-EBA replace the Ouendan in all levels, both the Black Ouendan and the Blue Ouendan
-Divas replace the Cheer Girls in the same way
-In the final two stages, EBA replace the black team, and the Cat leads the blue team
-(I haven't had a chance to check the multiplayer, sorry. Presumably it unlocks just J and the Cat as playable)

What the AR code does not do:
-It does not change any of the 2-D cutscene art
-It does not change any of the dance moves. It's cool seeing the EBA do the Ouendan moves, but now their microphones (yes, they're still holding them) are even more useless
-It does not affect the "idle" pose, so the EBA pose differently based on which Ouendan they're replacing
-It does not replace the voices (although I wonder if it might do so in multiplayer, since it's just J, and his voice was apparently on the cart)
-The EBA will not appear on the title screen or difficulty selection screen vignettes.

If anybody has any questions or wants me to try something, let me know. Also, if anyone can confirm that the "official" patch does anything different, I'd be interested to hear what. I'm pretty sure the AR code just triggers the "Unlock EBA Mode" button, so I doubt there'd be any difference.

Don't forget Samus's stage (in Melee). That one had some destructible parts too.

Also, I hope each character has multiple different costumes, not just the recolors. Maybe even some unlockable costumes. At the very least, Wario needs to have his classic outfit as an option. And I wouldn't mind seeing Link's alternate armor from TP, or a subtle alternate costume that's basically an updated version of his OoT look.

I guess I should phrase that, "I hope the final smash ball is included in the item switch," because I'm still not sure if it's a regular item or something more special.

I hope there's an "item switch," so we can turn off everything except "Final Smash," put that on Very High, and then have a final smash battle.

I was just giving a couple examples of Smash Bros characters.

I agree that there are plenty of Mario characters to go around. The Koopa Kids would be perfect in Mario Kart. I have no problem with Baby Mario, the Mario Sports games don't need to make any sense as long as they're fun.

The funny thing would be Samus in a miniature, convertible version of her spaceship. Similar gags could be done for Captain Falcon and Fox. They'd be character-specific karts like in MKDS.

Hmm... DK's final smash... my guess is it'll have something to do with a barrel cannon. I could be wrong.
