I do agree that MKDS had the best tracks. Both the out-of-nowhere (Waluigi Pinball) and the ones pulled right from Mario history (Tick-Tock Clock, and the SMB3 references) were awesome.

Better than full-priced sequels, I'd say, but yeah, kind of meh.

I think it's funny, I love the EBA as much as anybody, but I never had any delusion that they'd be considered a candidate for playable character. Maybe in the next Smash, assuming the EBA have a couple more games under their belt by then.

Eating Pikmin would be weird. I also noticed that you (and Munchlax) can never eat Pokeballs.

Am I the only one who found jumping over other racers in MK64 useful?

It was useful when I was starting a GP in 8th place, so I could hop to the front along with the boost start, but I think in this Wii version, the racers are spaced out enough that I never seem to bump into anyone anyway.

This would be an enjoyable thread and a fun discussion if people weren't being all "serious business" about it.

What I want to know, is why Kirby, Dedede, and Wario can eat items, but Yoshi can't.

I've actually been playing with the Wiimote/Nunchuk combo, and I kind of wish that had been the "standard" control, because then they could have done something awesome using the pointer for items.

Yeah that is just plain stupid. It's supposed to be "30 per license" for a total of 120 but that's the most pointless thing ever.

Wow.

Good thing I only have like 4 friends.

Good thing I never play as Donkey Kong. And anyone I know who plays as Donkey Kong would get a kick out of him sounding as obnoxious as possible.

For the money spent on a Nintendo USB adapter, you might as well get a low-end, but perfectly functional, wireless router/switch.

I've heard this before, but they all seem to be at least twice the cost of the USB dongle. What's the cheapest model that's known to be compatible?

It looks like they aren't making them any more. Wikipedia suggests that there's actually a lawsuit that prevents Buffalo from selling them. Great. So what's the most affordable means of getting a DS online, assuming that one doesn't currently own a wireless router?

Did they try to sell you some Egyptian cotton along with the game?

I hear it's pretty good when dipped in chocolate.

There's no functional equivalent to Melee's Camera Mode.  Which means there's no way for users to create really fancy footage.

Melee > Brawl yet again

What did Camera Mode include that can't be done from Brawl's pause screen?

TalkBack / Re: Capcom Offering Replacement Okami Box Art
« on: April 25, 2008, 01:54:54 AM »
How did Capcom explain this in their press statement? Did they actually admit to it?

They did admit it, on the blog.

Quote
I can honestly say that my worst day at Capcom was this Monday. After releasing Okami for the Wii last week to some great reviews (Metacritic Average: 88), one of our Okami diehard fans discovered that the folks who work here at Capcom are, in fact, human and can make mistakes.

I’m speaking of the watermark that appeared on the cover of Okami. It’s sadly one of those things that’s hard to spot if you don’t know what your looking for, but the moment you see it, it becomes obvious and stares you in the face.

Still no real sign of why or how.

Can't this game be beaten in like 10 minutes if you know what your doing?

The whole game is a process of collecting information, and none of it is randomly generated, so yeah, if you know the codes, it won't even take you that long.

So what, though? You're not really even playing the game if you do that.

Oh, for crying out loud. RealMyst. RealMyst for the PC. It's free on GameTap, and it's beautiful. The DS version doesn't have to suck, but it does, because in order for it to not suck they would have needed to go that extra mile, but they did the bare minimum. Runaway 2 for the DS is a great example of how this could have been not terrible... grumble grumble... Forget it.

But seriously, if you have a PC and live in the US, check out RealMyst on GameTap. It's by far the definitive version.

So this is how all MK related thread will be like? Destroyed by constant whining, bitching and debating about the blue shell?

I know it sucks, but must we dive into the blue shell discussion every time Mario Kart is brought up? Its an important item, yes, but lately it seems that the hot topic isn't whether the game runs smooth online or not, or even the character roster or gimped battle mode.

Those things might ruin this game, but the blue shell ruined the whole series :p

Actually, I think it's more a case where there's nothing better to complain about. The game is, as far as I can tell, fine.

I'm not saying I want ROB to be in the game, I just think it's odd.

Weird that they didn't bring back R.O.B. I guess they don't want to overdo it?

I myself would be one of the people that argue for items in Smash Bros. and against blue shells in Mario Kart, I just think it's funny that the two games get people to come to the exact opposite opinions on this issue.

Again, I think it's more that most people agree that items in Smash Bros do require skill to use, as do most of the items in Mario Kart. But if the Blue Shell were in Smash Bros, it'd essentially be a one-hit-kill item that requires no aiming, timing, or proximity to use, and that can't be countered, blocked, or dodged, I think most people would hate it.

Oh, and I do agree that your observation is valid and fairly amusing, but I do feel the need to analyze the differences between the situations.

I want the Purple Spiked shell back. That one could take out any other player on its way in its hunt for first. Bowl everyone over!

I prefer that as well. It actually benefited the player who throws it in a meaningful way, and it was also likely to hit the players in second and third, so first place wouldn't be demolished quite so badly.

I find it funny that the argument about blue shells is essentially the same argument as tourney***s and items in Smash Bros. except everybody is on the opposite side.

Most people are in favor of Smash Bros's item switch, and I think most would be in favor of Mario Kart also having an item switch. Too-powerful items in Smash Bros, like the Hammer and the Home-run Bat, have been toned down in the newer games, but the Blue Shell seems to have gotten more unfair and more obnoxious.

Myst is a first-person adventure. Any Metroid game would be an action-adventure, if that.  :P
