Nintendo Gaming / Sick and tired of crap conversions
« on: April 14, 2003, 07:15:35 AM »
can you really blame them? lok at the history and track record of third party game sales from the cube. I would rush things out to, because regardless of how good the game is many Nintendo supporters wont buy it anyways.

RE is a perfect example.

You just have close minded people like cubed and Lucifer running around that make up their minds before they play the game. Or they play about 3 hours into it and decide it sucks.

pardon me?

I have played the game, from begining to end. I based my opinion on my experience with the game. The game was brutally boring IMO. I already said it looked brilliant, the control was also great IMO, but the "game" itself was terrible IMO.

I dont say this just because Nintendo made it, I could care less who makes what. I love wave race and Nintendo made it? I love Mario 64 and Nintendo made that?

Sigh. "Whine whine, game is linear, whine whine."

it is, how can you honestly say it isnt?

As for no voice acting, I really dont care. I just would rather not spend 1/3 of my gaming time reading, I have an extensive library of books for that.

I still have to wonder why you choose to throw around insults to prove your point.  I see no need for it.

I am very open minded when it comes to gaming. I have all 3 systems and play a wide variety of games. So how can you say I am close minded, I honestly think that is very far from the truth.

Nintendo Gaming / No wonder M titles aren't selling

My post was completely ON topic.

Its also the reason why we have disks this time,

The type of disk the gamecube used is another example of Nintendo yet again bucking the trend. Regardless of what some say, I am sure this is again a factor in lack of 3rd party support.

I don't wanna hear, Mature titles don't sell on GC. If you don't advertise them, i.e. Splinter Cell, and you ship limited or no copies to stores what the hell do you expect?

You dont wanna hear it? Why? Because its true, mature titles dont sell well on the cube, the numbers speak for themselves on this subject.
As for them not shipping a lot of copies, I dont blame them. I would guess that the Cube pre-orders for SC were well below that of the PS2. I would go as far as to say the Cube port was a "lets hope we break even on this project" because the developer is already sure it wont sell. This might seem like a bad way for a developer to look at things, but be honest, can you really blame them.
Look at RE for an example, it is a great game and didnt sell worth beans. Why, because to many cube owners wont touch anything that isnt made by Nintendo becase they assume it will be inferior.

Nintendo drove away fans with the N64, which drove away developers. Now witht he cube they again use a different format of disk, which again will cost a few supporters, which in turn will again mean less support.

So it is on topic after all.

the controls better be better and most of all the better bloody make the camera spot on.

I have never had a problem with the controls or camera in either REmake or RE0, infact I like the RE control scheme.

I disagree about the graphics, as I thought the game looked wonderful in motion.
However it was very mindless and clearly geared towards young children. I think to dispute that is to look at it with blinders on. Every last objective in the game was spoon fed to you, if you could read you could finish Zelda without dying and without the use of a guide, even if you were 7 years old and have never played a Zelda game.

I wanted this game for so long, and am so dissapointed in the finished product. It really could have been brilliant. Its just to bad it isn't.

If you want to blame anyone for this, blame Nintendo.

They are the ones that created this mess for themselves. They are the ones who tried to buck the trend with the N64 cartridges. Yes, it may have been the one only real mistake they made, but it was a huge one, and IMO, one they may never recover from.

I agree 100%

GTA 3 is a great game.

633
Wouldnt matter to me if Nintendo was #1 or #50, in fact I could care less if any of the big 3 console makers went out of business even.
There will always be a game or 2 somewhere that I enjoy regardless of who the hells makes it or what I have to play it on.

On top of that, it looks like a rushed port with the date being pushed back and various reports of choppy performance.

I bought it this morning and have to say it kicks ass. I dont see any problems with it at all. The again I am not fussy on frame rates and so on, I play to have fun, a novel approah.

*sigh* This is an appearance driven world...

or maybe some people just dont like Nintendo games?

Has anyone ever thought of that?

Maybe they dont think Zelda is a fun game to play, or sunshine or prime. Maybe they really enjoy GTA vice city, or DOA vollyball, maybe they think these games are fun regardless of what you think?

Why is that fact that some people dont like what you like such a stumbling block around here?

I have no idea, but I am willing to bet that this post will get you banned.

640
I would be willing to bet that if you could get the ages of every single console owner (just not possible) that the Cube would have the lowest average user age.

I believe many third parties are aware of this, and therein lies the problem.

Why not appeal to both sides?

They have the hard part covered already, the loyalist who loves their 1st party games.
The easy part would be having a mass amount of 3rd part games regardless of what the 1st party fans thought of them. Games with mass appeal.

Why is this so much trouble for them?

You cant build a product based on the minotities wants and expect majority sales, it just isnt realistic.

Nintendo Gaming / We need a Capcom MegaMan Collection

We need new games IMO, not collections of old games.I for one am glad Capcom is making as many new titles as they are.

I say in with the new and out with the old.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo should pull out of the consol race.
« on: April 10, 2003, 10:48:49 AM »
I think that a lot of hard core games miss the point.

What many hard core gamers call crappy games a lot of casual gamers truly enjoy.

Many gamers dont care about the length of a game, or the frame rate, or a deep story.

They might enjoy graphics over gameplay, gimmicks over substance and so on. I know many will say then that means that they enjoy inferior games, I agree and disagree. Its all in the eye of the beholder.

Many casual games dont want to spend 50 hours playing Zelda, they want a game that has action right out of the gate, a game that they can wrap up in the period of a rental, Timesplitters is a prime example of this style of game, so is GTA3, big reasons IMO why they sell so well.

At the end of the day nintendo is a business, a business that sells both software and hardware. I see nothing wrong with Nintendo making the style of games they make, games like Mario and Zelda will wlways keep the loyals on board. What they need to do is somehow get more games in the style of GTA and timesplitters, more games with mass appeal, be it first, second or third party.
I for one would love to see the Nintendo section have as many games as the PS2 section, this IMO would give Nintendo its best shot at regaining dominance. I dont think one or two killer games will do it, Mario 128 (I hope it kicks ass) wont be enough as Zelda wasnt enough. Mass appeal is the only answer. If Nintendo wants its numbers to rise, both in sales and profits then it must provide the best of both worlds. IMO Nintendo is the only company that can really achieve this lofty goal because of its first party titles and loyal following, they already have the hard part covered. I just dont understand why they are having so much trouble with the easy part.

Its quite possible that only 5-10 MIL gamers out their globally are pure hardcore gamers who play games only on the basis of research rather than hype and saturated marketing the non-gamecube platforms get.

Man I hate comments like this.

Why must so many people here think that if you dont own a Game Cube you arent a hard core gamer? That statement is just plain ludicrous.
Why cant someone who only owns a PS2 be hardcore or an X-box?
Who the hell plays games based on research anyway, many people, even hard core gamers play because its fun.

The Game cube is being out sold for one reason. The majority of gamers feel systems like the PS2 have better games, yes I said better, in their opinion the games are better.

Why cant everyone just accept this and deal with it. Play the games you like and forget about it. I know I do.

Nintendo Gaming / Wind Waker is the best game ever
« on: April 09, 2003, 08:14:54 AM »
I didnt find it short. I thought it looked awesome and the gameplay and control was spot on.
However I was bored out of my skull playing it. Every thing you did was spelled out for you, that stupid rock telling you exactly what to do, every creature you talk to giving the most obvious of hints.
There was no sense of adventure to it, everything was so dumbed down it wasnt even funny.
This game could have been the greatest, in the end I cant say  I even enjoyed playing it as a result.

Why does everyone want all these old games to be re-done.

How about some new games for change. I think its time to drop all this rehashing crap gaming companies are doing.
