General Chat / Re: Verizon phones

Well, when the Droid was advertised at $199 with 2 year contract, I got an extra $100 off with the NE2, so it was only $99.  Of course, adding in the tax on top of both phones' (including the free Droid Eris) original price, the NE2 effectively evaporated.

I switched it so you have to have at least one post before you can change personal settings to prevent those bots from spamming signature links.

Avatars are only resized if they exceed 100x100.  So, if you have an animated avatar, it should stay animated as long as its within the limits.

It would be interesting if they created a Dream Mix TV World Party.

Hey, if you went to Hudson, does that mean we are getting some Bonk info?
Working on that.  They didn't have that for show last night.

This is a few years too late.  The launch window was the time to create a new brand.
This isn't the first though; they made Help Wanted last year.  They don't seen to have any unifying brand though.

I think they went a little too far trying to emulate the Wii/Mii environment, making it look bland.

I just played Carcassonne for the first time the other night and was thinking it would make a great digital game.

I actually asked them about that last night.  This was actually done by a different team than Mario Party, but it sounds like they aren't doing Mario Party any more (at least the American branch hasn't heard anything recently).  But yeah, it does seem Hudson is continuing with their own party games and Deca Sports.  I'll get you a little gameplay footage later.

How's this for a mock-up/fake 3DS?

Terrible?  That's just a DSi XL running a DSiWare game... nothing fake there.

My girlfriend's cat is on prednisolone, which made him get fat.

is there anyone Apple isn't competing with?
Add Apple vs Amazon (iTunes vs MP3 Store, iPad vs Kindle)
Not to mention iAd, etc.

Emulators were already technically against the rules, though there have been exceptions. If this truly is the shot at Adobe it appears to be, it's not unlikely that Apple would make exceptions for such other products as well.
General emulators were... as in ones where you could load ROMs, or apps that let you run other programs.  I believe integrated ones that only ran a specific game were okay.  This change moves it down a level.

It's pretty clear that this is a direct attack on Adobe, but it's going to affect a lot of other software.  For instance, Virtual Console-like games will not be allowed since the games are emulated, not directly coded.  This ridiculous over-control is starting to turn devs off of the platform.

I was thinking Apple made some good moves in iPhone OS 4.0, but then I saw this.  **** Apple.

FTP doesn't autosync or do version control.

Yeah, it really only looks impressive in the tiny little boxes Japanese video game sites tend to use.  When I first saw it in person, I noticed it almost had a watercolor look to it, a strange blurriness-- now I know it's because it was running at a lower resolution and they were using shader effects or something to try and cover it up.  Still, it's a lot better than what most third parties have attempted recently and it's clear a ton of effort went into all the intricacies of the game.

Does anybody else use Dropbox?  I've found it very useful to synchronize my laptop, desktop, and work computers' important files automatically. The files are also available through a web interface, and they keep an archive of old versions of the files in case you need to undo something major.  You can also make certain files public to share them on the web.  I've been using it since it was in beta, and it's worked great for me under Windows and Linux (Mac and iPhone available too).

You get 2GB free, but if you sign up through this link, you get an extra 250MB to start out with (and so do I, which I will greatly appreciate!).  They have paid versions with more space.

He's claiming that they had to actually design the plastic, not anything about lack of supplies/capacity.

The black plastic thing is baffling to me.  Even some of the early dev kits were black and there are black DS Lites, so I don't know what the problem could have been.

They messed up though and took the Super Mario Advance art instead of the SMB2 art.

Of course not.  But they're going to patent every possible option so that they can choose which to use at their leisure.
That's assuming any of them could get past anti-button Jobs.
