Wow people on there really spaz out over the Wii dominance. The one thing that just drives me nuts is the no good game argument for the Wii. Within the first year of the Wii I already own 11 games and that number will be growing before the year is done. But whatever, I'm happy with the Wii thus far and I am getting much more out of it than my Xbox 360 which has been dormant for quite a while.

As far as Galaxy, I totally agree, it is going to get burned just like Twilight Princess did. Major gaming publications are doing everything in their power to downplay the good things the Wii has. It's too bad that so many people will miss out on truly great games because of these biased publications.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: So.. what are Nintendo's options for the Holiday?
« on: October 11, 2007, 08:55:16 AM »
Galaxy is Nintendo's cash earner this holiday season, and perhaps WiiFit if it releases in America around the same time it is releasing in Japan.

Wiis will sell regardless of Smash. This is important to realize.

The casual market is still eating up all the Wii hype and you can bet your ass that tons of kids out there will have a Wii under their tree this year because they have been begging for it all year. Just think, now that Smash is delayed, next year when there is nothing to play Smash is going to fall into your lap at the perfect time.

Meh, it's not the end of the world. I am glad that they recognize that they need a little more time to get the job done. I'm sure the Dojo updates will continue, the game is freaking massive. This delay pretty much means a more solid game, and more time for me to enjoy the other titles being released around the same time (Mario Galaxy, Mass Effect). By the time I finish those up, Smash will be out and consuming my life, which works out just fine.

Seems like a logical move to me, however, if it is going to happen we need some firmware updates that allows us to use other means of storage.

"I am a 22 year-old-man, and I have always played video games, but the Wii is special. I love to play with my Wii, at home, at school, at work, in the bathroom, you name it. Nothing brings me more joy than just touching my Wii and playing with it all night long. I can't wait until I can find someone to play with my Wii with me!" - Mr. Jack

Delay Smash it's worth it. I'll have more time with Galaxy and Smash will get that nice final coat of paint. Also, HOLYFUCK SONIC IS IN BRAWL!!!1!1!!

Bungie Studios was founded in 1991 with two goals: to develop games that combine brilliant technology, beautiful art, intelligent stories and deep gameplay, and then sell enough of those games to achieve its real goal of total world domination.

Well it seems Bungie successfully accomplished Goal #2. As for Goal #1 ...

Microsoft has just issued an official press release revealing that Bungie is breaking away from Microsoft in order to become an independent company.

So I guess the rumors were true...

This creates an interesting situation. I wonder if Bungie will continue developing for Microsoft or start a new franchise on other consoles. I would have a big laugh if they developed a very Halo-like FPS for the PS3 or Wii.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Is Nintendo Creating Lapsed Wii Gamers?
« on: October 04, 2007, 04:23:14 AM »
This thread has turned into a pissing war quite quick.

I think it would make more sense to open this up to "Lapsed Nintendo Gamers." Clearly there exists a group of fans who are no longer happy with the direction that Nintendo has gone with the Wii. But really, who cares? It doesn't really mean much. Every generation you will lose some people and gain others. Nintendo doesn't care about the lapsed gamers because they can just target a new market and continue on their merry way. Nintendo lost a ton of gamers when it moved into 3D.

If you don't like Nintendo anymore, don't support them. Real simple. Please though, don't whine about it on this board every opportunity you get. If you haven't liked Nintendo's direction since the N64 I think it's safe to say that it's time to move on, Nintendo does not make the games that appeal to you anymore, try your luck on a different console. All the rest of us have bent with Nintendo to see what else is out there, if you don't want to bend anymore, leave, simple as that.

Actually it's just Miyamoto and the gang making up for the train wreck that was Super Mario Sunshine. This game will actually be well worth the wait!

Yes I know you love Sunshine

Hey! Sunshine was awesome and totally underrated. People were expecting the breakthrough that Mario 64 was and didn't get that so they hated it. The only reason Galaxy can stand out like 64 did is because it has the room to innovate and reinvent as Mario 64 did. Sunshine was a great game and a worthy successor to 64, whether people want to acknowledge it or not.

I would double check that with Nintendo. The same thing happened to me, and it turns out it didn't work. It is supposed to ask you for all your shipping information after the initial page. I called Nintendo about my order and it had to be redone and reprocessed, all good now though.

Nintendo is officially providing Wii owners with antislip gloves in a similar fashion to the Wii-Strap replacement. If you go here you can input your Wii serial number and request up to 4 remote jackets, which will be shipped to you for free starting October 15!

Think about it: Every game Sonic has been in, in 3D, terrible.  It's like the Madden Curse.

Anyway, Sonic is about going fast.  If you go fast in Smash Bros?  Off the cliff.
His attacks are...him going non-stop in a ball of death.  He would go right off the side.  The other is a jump spin.

That's it.

Quite a lame character.

I actually agree with Crimm here, however if it was a Sonic + Tails combo, I could see the character being quite a bit more interesting.

You just described Marth and Roy from SSBM. Just throwin' that out there.

Not to mention, that SSB gives these small franchises huge exposure. When people play with these characters they will naturally want to know where they all come from. When enough people are knowledgeable about the character origins, Nintendo can release a game like Mother 3, and actually sell through tons of copies just based on people's love for the characters they play as in SSB.

Well I'm hoping this is an indication of things to come. With the last Smash Bros. we hadn't seen a single FE game ever in the US, now we almost have 4. Maybe, just maybe, now that we are getting a Mother 3 character we will see the long awaited Mother 3 finally come to America.

Actually . . . in my view they didn't change Samus enough. Instead she got a (crappy) new suit design and that was it. At the end, when it was all said and done, she is pretty much the same.

As for the topic of dread, I too find it hard to believe this was just a coincidence and that they forgot to take out the message as it was once part of a narrative thread . . . it's not THAT well hidden in the game. In fact when I came across it I was surprised that it was just a monitor in an area where I was trying to access anyway. It wasn't tucked away in some small corridor where people would rarely find/go.

I think it's 1) just a cover up and they don't want to confirm anything until it's officially announced (as others have said) or 2) they put it in the game thinking dread was a sure thing but now it's not so they are just playing it off as a coincidence.

Or 3) They thought it would be funny to f*ck with the fanboys.

Sure there is some more negativity due to the extreme over-hyping and double standards in reviews. But generally speaking, I can't stand Halo. The story is boring and useless, the character design and art direction is bland and boring. The enemies are repetitive and the gameplay is boring. I hate the controls and the weapons and how so much of being good at the game depends on knowing the levels. Halo has done 3 things right and that's all I can give it. 1) It has really done a great job of Online play, as much as I hate the game I can't take that away from it. 2) Coop play in FPSs has become pretty much standard as a result of the efforts of Halo. 3) The vehicles have always been fun to control and play with.

Unfortunately, it has also brought the concept of rechargeable health which in it's own right it the biggest destruction of console FPSs. I absolutely hate rechargeable health. It ruins multiplayer and encourages running away and camping, which just pisses me off to no end. The mediocrity of Halo just pisses me off. Just because it is a solid offering doesn't make it ground breaking. Halo never did anything that hasn't been done before and didn't do anything that has done before necessarily better. The game was geared for the mainstream gamer, and those idiots gobbled it up and have since hailed it as the greatest creation known to man.

Halo is nothing special, end of story. I'm sick of people telling me I should like it just because they do, it just makes me hate the game more.
