The cube reminds me more of the snes. Lots of sequels that aren't really as magical as the ground-breaking games that came out on the previous system, but are better graphically.

(Yeah, I prefer Nintendo's odd-numbered systems.)

Um, wrong thread?

edit: oh, no, sorry, I follow the conversation now. I don't think people will make a big deal over free voice chat. You don't need to register when you sign up for aim, either. Or when you buy a carrier pigeon.

I like it.

It's very New Coke-ish.

So, you hate Nintendo's computer-operated answering service?

3881
I'm not sure what you're asking, nemo. You might as well ask why not just release all videogames on the pc and be done with consoles.

The revolution is going to be a very, very nice package. Incredible controllers that are infinintley expandle and integrate seamlessly and wirelessly with the console. The ability to download 3 generations worth of great Nintendo games. Great graphics that will allow advanced textures and lighting effects, many more things happening on screen at once, etc....even though they won't be quite as impressive as the competition. Signifigantly reduced load times from the competition. Signifigantly reduced price from the competition. Free and easy online service.

And, most importanlty of all, lots of great games.

Oh, one more thing:
Quote

(and GCN had a graphical advantage and still failed). Why aren't Nintendo investing their money in power.

I think the first sentence answers the second....

edit, and one last thing:
Quote

why do we need this console as it stands now as a delivery system for the interface rather than having this interface and Nintendo's software support on 360?

If the rev controller was a third-party add-on peripheral for the 360, how many games do you think would utilize it? More to the point, why would Nintendo want to throw away all the money they receive from 3rd party licensing?

I'm going back to italics.

Wandering sighed as he sat in his hotel room, sweat dripping down the folds of the pasty, disfigured face he hid behind his hood. Though a little ocean breeze came in through the darkness of the open window, it was still far too hot for Wandering. The only comfort came from a slow moving rotary fan on the ceiling.

They hate me because I'm different, Wandering thought. Because I look different and can barely speak the language and come from a place far, far away. And they call themselves civil. And they make a show of being fair and open.  But I see the way they stare as I walk down the street. As I dance. I see their forced smiles, their happy greetings, yes. But I also hear their hushed whispers. Their clucking tongues.

Wandering closes his eyes, sighs, and drifts off to sleep.

Wandering walks into the club hushes the crowd.

"Si usted me pulsa traga, yo llega a ser más de gran alcance que usted podría imaginarse posiblemente!

"Oh, and also, if anyone knows a good defense attorney? It's not exactly fair that I've become the victim of vote-for-the-random-guy-who-screwed-us-over-last-game-casuse-we-have-no-leads-as-to-who-might-be-mafia-on-the-first-day thing. Thanks!"

And then he starts dancing like he's dancing the last dance he'll ever do on earth.

edit: role-playing without italics? I smell a new trend.

your reasoning seems flawed.

BreakyBoy refuses to read anything in italics because it's god damned annoying

Vote wandering for starting this nonsense until someone convinces me otherwise.

The italics role playing thing was actually started by Pale. See for yourself.

Wandering wanders into town, to the horror of everyone. He quickly learns what's going on, the fundamentals of spanish, the art of deductology, and the essence of good fashion sense.

"El ninja tiene enemigos convertidos de la república!" he intones.

Yo forgot to have Now come in the vote for you.

What, now every new dummy account is me? TVMan started the whole thing, you know.

Oh, and Now wouldn't have voted because Now with Bill Moyers is completley unbiased...

I vote Nea not because I don't think you'd do a good job, but just because you're not a mod and you don't have the ability to lock threads, edit messages and whatnot.

A good point. Though in a game where the mc can't control whether, say, the living contact and reveal information to the dead... I don't think it'd be any big deal not to be able to prevent people from posting when and where they shouldn't.

Pryo's unexplained absence has gone on long enough. I put to you that you should vote for a new supreme chancellor of Mafia. Someone with the leadership to see us through to the bloody end. Someone like me.

If you elect me for this task, I will assign new roles to everyone. And then I would fulfill all gamely duties, including receiving kills from the mafia, starting new days, writing intros and outros to each day, etc.

Will you accept this bold new leadership?

Will you, in this month of mayhem, herald in a revolution?

Vote Yea or Nea before 9pm tonight.

Quite possibly.

In this mafia game, the dead walk around like regular people. They don't see each other. They only see what they want to see. They don't know they're dead.

I had a fantastic experience with Nintendo customer service recently. There was an....accident....recently, and, well, here's how my phone call went:

Recording: Thank you for holding. This call may be monitored by quality assistance personel.

Then, an older woman came on...

Nintnendo: Nintendo customer service. How may I help you?

me: Ah, yes. I have a GameBoy micro? And it was chewed up by a dog. And I was wondering what you'd reccomend.

Nintendo: (Laughs) Well, um, that depends how badly it was damaged. You can get it repaired, they'll fix what they can, but if it's in tiny pieces...

me: Well, it's still in one piece. There are tooth marks on the battery, and the front cover, and the area around, the, ah, what's it called, microphone jack, that's pretty damaged. The cover's pretty much destroyed.

Nintendo: Okay. When did you purchase the unit?

me: Well, around, I guess it was around Christmas time.

Nintendo: That's within a year. The normal repair fee is 60 dollars, but since you bought it within a year, there's a ten dollar discount. Would you like to get it repaired?

me: Um, yes, but...it's a special, it's the special famicom edition, will that be a problem?

Nintendo: They'll replace or repair any damaged parts that they can. If it's a special editition, they'll use special edition parts.

me: Okay, then. And how much is this costing?

Nintendo: The total is fifty-five fifty.

me: That includes shipping, and the discount?

Nintendo: Yes.

me: And what are my payment options?

Nintendo: You can pay with a credit card now, or include a check or money order with your shipment.

me: Alright. I'd like to get it repaired.

Nintendo: Okay, what's your location?

me: Montana. Springfield.

Nintendo: Let me just check the repair options......okay. What's going to happen is that we'll send you instructions and packaging material and then you'll send in the unit to be repaired. We have a deal with UPS. What's your name?

me: *gives name*

Nintendo: And your address?

me: *gives address*

Nintendo: And how would you like to pay?

me: I think I'll, I think I'll write a check. What was the total, again?

Nintendo: Fifty-five fifty.

me: Okay. So I'll just, where am I sending this, again?

Nintendo: We'll send a letter with all of the instructions you need.

me: Okay. So, I'll just wait for that, then. Is that it?

Nintendo: That's it. You'll receive that letter shortly.

me: Thank you very much. Goodbye.

Nintendo: Thank you, bye.

*click*

I got the micro back a bit more than 2 weeks after that phone call. They replaced the whole unit.

Now, I've got to call Sony and see if they'd be willing to do the same thing for a damaged psp.....

I was going to give up anime for lent, but, Ghost in the shell came on, and, well, long story short, I'm going to hell.

Actually I wonder how I ever convinced anyone to come to my house because my Mom was so damn anti-fun that for a while there was like nothing interesting for kids to do at my house except watch TV or read.

I know some parents who don't let their kids play videogames because it's 'bad for them'. They sit around watching Spongebob.

Sometimes I wish Nintendo wasn't run by people like Miyamoto and Iwata. They need some real a**holes working for them - the kind that go into the public eye and stupidly bash everything to hell. You know, like Mark Rein, Kutaragi, Iga, the guy from Shiny, etc etc. Just a lot of money grubbing arrogant pricks to come out and call gamers morons for liking and/or disliking certain things.

You mean, like Reggie?

*ducks*

Quote

Or maybe they need to promise the entire damn world in all of their games, then absolutely fail to deliver even on the slightest.

You mean like Nintendo did with Mario Sunshine? And connectivity?
