Yeah DSLs were sold out everywhere.  No major online site had 'em and no major retailer near me.

I didn't like it.  A total cookie cutter hack n slash game.  Just not interesting.  The first boss was so lame.  And the Wii controls in this one are lame too.  Very generic random gestures representing buttons.

Boring game.  YOu can have fun if you're with  friends, but I'm not sure that says anything about the game.  IT just says hanging out with friends is fun.

I have to give it a thumbs down.

btw, the best thing about the game was the camera control unless you're playing with a 5 yr old.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: I think I know why Nintendo is holding back VC games

Well they know you'll buy the big releases so they hold those off and tempt you with lesser fare first.

Most of these games are launch titles.  aka poor quality.  IT's not any different than the other systems.

I'm not touching any of these titles.  Nintendo is the only I trust to put out quality titles.

The silly thing is you can't use the classic controller with GC games.  Come on Nintendo patch this capability in and let us the flash memory for GC saves too.

Yeah I love it.  Great game.  My favorite game besides the Zelda and WiiSports pack-in games.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Red Steel Time Frame

My in-game time was only 9 something hours.  It might have hit 10 at the end.

Finished it.    IT's a fun one.  And that makes it all the more sad they didn't take the time to improve the crappy frame rate and the 'not as good as they could be' controls.  The soundtrack rules in this one too btw.

A game like this leaves me mixed.  I mean I enjoyed it, but I don't want to support developers releasing games that are half-polished.  So I recommend a rental or buy and sell when you're done.

I like this game.  I heard it was broke or something, but it's downright fun.  Better than RRR imo.

And Monkey Wars?  No one is talking about this?  It seems to nail fps controls on the Wii.  Amazing.  It fps controls feel better than the ones in CoD3 or Red Steel.  Steady and smooth.  Amazing.  Check it out.

Great title.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: So I finally got to try out the Wii
« on: December 04, 2006, 05:24:41 PM »
WiiSports is a better 'demo' of the system.  But no company can have people swinging the wiimote around in their store.  This would be a good question to ask Reggie though to get the official word.

ExciteTruck takes about 3 races to keep your truck on the road.  And you still might find yourself attempting to use the dpad to steer.  It's a really fun game.  It wouldn't nearly as fun with an analog stick imo.

Nothing wrong with the controls in Excite Truck.  Must be the player.

Yeah like others I really hated the game at first.  I was playing on my crappy TV.  I sucked at the controls.  The game was making feel sick because I was all over the place with the cursor.

But man I've changed my mind.  RS is actually a very ambitious game imo.  The only beef I really have with it is that it's far from being polished.  The frame rate is shakey thoughout.  The way the enemy moves sometimes looks sloppy.  You can see guns floating in the air once in awhile or clipping here and there.

I hate to defend this, but if you can overlook this lack of polish it's a great game.  NOw I'm only about halfway thru, but it's got a ton of variety to it.

I just did the mission with the large rabbits in them.  That's pretty sweet.  I like the fact you can spare lives.  and the story is pretty sweet.  I'm not one for vidgames stories, but the whole respect thing and the way the missions in the bar are setup is sweet.  Same with the fact you can go down and use the target range between missions.

I give the game a 7.5.  If you can overlook the unfinished production values it's a 9 type of a game.  Surely it's more interesting than most of the been there, done that fps games out there.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Official Wii Sales Thread

Yep that's why I enjoy the Wii.  Something new and different.  That's why I always thought it would do well.

Alot of folks dismiss WiiSports as only for non-gamers, but it's exactly the sort of game this gamer wanted.  It's something fresh and new and fun.

Actually RS is feeling better now.  I hold down 'A' alot more just in normal shooting and it helps with the aiming.  I got some variety with all the bullet time and what not and I got a new sword move and I've got that down pretty well.  And it's got a great amount of variety to it.  The story, AI and sound and even the graphics are decent.

I think it just lacks polish.  The frame rate needs to be tightened up.

I really disagree with the swords and guns don't mix line in the review.  I really think they mix well.  FPS games need some variety and sword battles certainly add that.  Nah this mixture wasn't problem with the game.

The problem is that the game was released at least 6 months too early.  It lacks polish is almost every area.  Even aiming doesn't feel as good as pointing does in the WiiMenu.

There is a lot of promise here.  In some ways it reminds me of Geist.  Good idea.  Shows alot of promise.  Needed alot of more polish.  Geist though was more fun.

Wish we could use classic controllers and the built-in flash memory for Gamecube games/GC saves.  I don't like having those flaps open.  Looks ugly and collects dust.

Mine died too yesterday.  5 days or so of heavy use.  I'll see how long this fresh pair lasts before passing judgement.  I will get rechargeables  soon.  Actually I probably take 'em out of my wavebirds.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: I miss the tiny discs
« on: November 26, 2006, 04:49:22 PM »
Not sure if flash would speed up load times, but it would great to play WiiSports without putting the disc in all the time.

What if Nintendo sold a 20 disc Wii cd changer for the Wii that supported both GC and Wii discs and plugged right into the USB port?  That would be awesome.  Come on Nintendo.  Do it.  It would a high end product.

What happened to Metroid Prime Corruption?  It seems it's not on Nintendo's 1Q 2k7 release list.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: The biggest disaster in Nintendo history?
« on: November 26, 2006, 05:23:57 AM »
No one on the internet really knows how many units Nintendo sold at launch.  There has been new shipments to stores already.  Best Buy got some new ones in today and, at least near me, BB was sold out before they opened for business this morning.  And any numbers given by Nintendo as to how many they can manufacture are rough estimates.  Even they don't know for sure.  So don't get your panties in a twist yet.

Nintendo Gaming / Madden disc thrashing
« on: November 22, 2006, 05:38:03 AM »
Is it me or does Madden access the disc drive way too much?  The drive is constantly thrashing while playing you're Madden.  It rarely seems to stop.  SEems odd for this type of game.  I can see loading between main menus and modes etc.  But during the game?   Anybody else think this is odd?
