I haven't bought it. "Epic" (aka excessively long) games have never appealed to me much, and even less so now with the amount of time I have. Zelda is about the only series that I can handle and even then it takes me ages to finish a game.

Do everything you possibly can to unlock the AX Cup (beat all the cups on Master Mode). It's worth it.

Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best games I've ever played, and that's more than enough for me to love my Wii.

This game's bloody incredible. One of the best single player experieces on the Wii yet; you never know what the hell is going to happen next and it throws so much at you at a rapid pace. Never a dull moment. One minute you're taking down a helicopter with a handgun, the next you're being swept away in a tsunami, only to wash up next to a maniac with a bomb strapped to his chest.

The industry destroying 'mini-games' (uuurrr hurrr can't possibly enjoy those) work really well. Many of them are one-offs and you'll be learning how to control them on-the-fly, which adds to the intensity. Seriously, there are just so many hilariously random, amazing moments. It easily surpasses Disaster Report and Raw Danger on PS2 in this regard, ie; INFERNAL GETS HARD FOR THESE TWO GAMES.

This is my Wii GOTY. <3

Sounds like Feel the Magic.

Yes and yes there are.

That fight scene was kick ass, but it doesn't even rival the fight/chase scenes that Casino Royale produced.

I thought you were talking about QoS. I've watched Casino Royale but I prefer the Bourne movies.

Anyway, just watched the movie. The action scenes were poorly choreographed, the plot was incoherent at times and the pacing was off. Ah well.

OMFG this game is driving me bananas.  I want another console AC game VERY VERY BADLY because AC on a handheld just doesn't do it for me.  But Mario is right, this game is just one giant scam!  I can just put my original AC disk in my wii and the experience wont be a whole lot different.

You shouldn't be complaining. You got Wild World for free.

The funny thing is that this actually makes me MORE interested in the game.  I didn't buy Jungle Beat because I was really turned off by the bongo controls.  Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance?  But I played it in store demos and the whole thing felt unnatural to me and, well, stupid.

I actually *ducks* kind of like Donkey Kong 64.  It's a fun platformer

Note to self: Continue to be extremely wary of Ian's taste in games.

Jungle Beat is easily the best Donkey Kong game ever. It's innovation with an awesome nostalgic feeling, combined to form pure bliss.

They did this before for the Wii - probably just covering their potential bases.

I don't like that they're just modifying it. Why not a whole new game?

Because Nintendo's intention is that these games didn't get enough exposure first time around because the cube wasn't as popular as Wii is, so they are giving these awesome games a second life, it worked for Capcom and countless companies including Nintendo themselves with the SNES to GBA remakes.

I understand that, but as it stands these new gamers will be getting a watered down version of the game which provided the most pure fun for me last generation. I don't like the in-between ground - either make a whole new Jungle Beat game specifically for Wii, or if you're not changing it much, keep the gameplay experience as close as possible to before. Of course, it's impossible without the drums, so I'd much rather them go for a brand new experience. Ah well, I don't have to buy it.. the new levels are tempting me though.

Anyway, this is all moot because as Luigi Dude said Tokyo EAD is probably working on a new game (hopefully Pikmin 3!)

EDIT: Just read about the checkpoints.. ugh. One of the best parts of Jungle Beat is its fluidity and the way you can string combos together. I can't see it any other way.

But most of all, Daniel Craig makes Jason Bourne look like a child with a water pistol.

What?! Is there anything that rivals the bathroom fight scene between Bourne and Desh in Ultimatum? Because I sincerely doubt that.

I've been saying since the controller was revealed that many of Sega's franchises are a perfect fit for it. I especially want Panzer Dragoon. Too bad they don't have the talent to develop those franchises well onto the Wii anymore. At least they've been trying with NiGHTS, Ghost Squad, House of the Dead, Samba de Amigo, etc.

Still, Panzer Dragoon Orta was an incredible game and it was made fairly recently - the same team could make a great Wii entry for the franchise.

In a recession (or depression) people look to entertainment to escape from everyday life. Why do you think Gone With the Wind is the highest grossing (adjusted for inflation) movie of all time?

Shipping costs can be quite high and places like Amazon charge sales tax on top of that. Not to mention the delay in shipping.

Amazon's shipping is free in most cases (if you're willing to wait a week or two for delivery) and they don't charge sales tax for most states.  However, since Ian lives in Canada it's all a moot point.

Amazon.ca gives us free shipping.

« on: October 21, 2008, 03:22:51 AM »
Enjoy your revisionist history, guys.  Believe me, I'm one of the DS' biggest fans and had one day one.  But I'm not going to sugar-coat the fact that it sat on my shelf until Christmas 2005.  After that, it was amazing and continues to be amongst my all-time favorite systems.

Christmas 2005? Let's see what I bought that year before Christmas rolled around.

WarioWare Touched
Kirby Canvas Curse
Meteos
Advanced Wars: Dual Strike
Trace Memory
Trauma Centre
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

I'd qualify Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Mario&Luigi, Metroid Pinball and Sonic Rush as Christmas releases. The rest were all pre-October. And all of them are incredible games.

EDIT: Beaten by a number of people.
