General Gaming / RE: EA STRIKES BACK!!!
« on: October 11, 2007, 05:32:24 PM »
Wow.

Well, if this means more Nintendo support, at leas that's good news. We need some Western developer support, and Bioware is among the best. Plus they're based in Edmonton.

But if it means that their game quality will drop due to rushed and rehashed, games, then thumbs down.

Has there been any news on the Sonic Bioware RPG recently?

Traditional RPGs suck. Give me an engaging battle system or give me death. I won't even mind the terrible story then.

Did the internet tell you that Nintendo has the right to keep track of your cookies and activity on the Opera Browser?

EDIT: I guess it did now

Nintendo Gaming / RE: So.. what are Nintendo's options for the Holiday?
« on: October 11, 2007, 04:58:09 PM »
Well, I called Smash being delayed since we heard news that Super Paper Mario would be in April, which meant that Galaxy would have to be in the fall. I mean, there's no way they would launch it 3 weeks apart from Galaxy. Too much system-selling potential would be wasted. Plus, it's just fine with me, because I want it to get all the time it needs.

And I'm still catching up on GameCube, Wii AND DS games. With Phoenix Wright, Prof Layton, Phantom Hourglass, then all the great Wii games I plan to play soon, I'm 100% satisfied.

Athrun is probably right - they'll port it to the PSP, but this time they'll actually hold off and not announce it before the Wii version comes out.

Great special - so this works just like Orb does, eh? I have that, and my results have been basically the same as yours. Long video files take quite a while to buffer, and you can't skip to anywhere in the middle. Short video files and audio files are just fine. The video quality is serviceable - about as good as you can expect for low-quality flash.

I was hoping that NWR would do a review of the X-OOM media streamer for Wii. It's pretty pricey, but if it's actual streaming instead of flash compression, it would be nice to see how well it works.

Any chance of this?

Samus has an aura around her? And Fox has a sword item?

TalkBack / RE: Sonic Confirmed for Smash Bros. Brawl
« on: October 10, 2007, 04:42:56 PM »
I don't think there'll be references (assist trophies, items, stages and the like) to 3rd party franchises unless they are represented by a character.

I'd like to see Alex Roivas, from Eternal Darkness. Or even better yet, Karim. I'm not sure if Nintendo owns those characters or if Silicon Knights does. Little Mac would make a nice Assist Trophy.
Ooooh. Hmmmm. That's a very, very interesting one. I would, like DaaMan, love any sort of reference to Eternal Darkness, it being in my Top 5 GameCube games and tied with Pikmin as best new IP last generation. And since it's a new franchise that arrived after SSBM, it would definitely add variety to Brawl.

Still, the dark nature of the game clashes horribly with Smash's atmosphere - Roivas would be even more out of place than Snake. Plus I think Nintendo wants to forget not only the game, but that whole Cube era. So I'm not holding my breath for an ED character. If we're lucky, we'll get an item triggering a sanity effect. That would be awesome.

The WiiFit Channel is an awesome idea - they should have done that with WiiSports..

It's Tingle

So yeah, the Dojo has been overloaded and the server's down.. I've been wondering how many clicks they've been getting over the past few months (especially with the big updates like the WiFi and Sonic ones) - apparently quite a few!

Is that a new Sonic Riders I see?

Plus Namco's aboard again for Mario baseball, but what's this game of theirs?

EDIT: So it's Tales? For Wii?

Also, Battalion Wars looks awesome!

Freaking EA plants.

1145
Hmm, well all signs point to this being a Q1 2008 release now - if they're actually using the time to polish it up even more (get online as lag-free as possible, fix possible balancing issues, add more variety) then I'm all for it - Galaxy is more than enough for me for the Christmas.

Plus it's a good business move to save it for a time where Wiis aren't sold-out, like they definitely will be this holiday. Smash Bros has huge system-pushing potential, so it would be somewhat of a waste in December.

13:40: Next, Wii trailer clips. Mario Kart Wii, Famicom Wars Wii, Super Mario Stadium Baseball, Wii Music and other games. Wait... one of those is new...

1147
While some Sonic music is quite good, a lot of it is simply terrible.

On another note, looks like Nintendo is showing up SEGA with their own character.

EDIT: In the first trailer, the part where fox shoots with Samus behind him, then disappears just before Samus shoots, is beautifully executed.

Apparently, the updates aren't working yet, but Internet Channel USB Keyboard support is in. Plus you can send clickable links to people through the Message Board.

More as it hits.

Alright, I'm sorry. I may have overreacted. Being one of the new guys, I'm not accustomed to having my review torn to pieces by the masses I write for.
Better than apathy, don't you think?
