The launch lineup is what impresses me the most, even without heavy hitters like Metroid Prime 3 it still is one of the best, most diverse launches I've seen in a LONG time.

Great report Spak, it is interesting though to see how opinions differ since many thought Boxing was a blast to play and one of their favorites yet you say the opposite. Oh we'll all know for sure at launch, and besides the game is a pack in it isn't like one game out of a compilation of 5 is going to kill it.

You guys should check out the newest IGN Wiikly by Matt and Mark, they provide more insight into Red Steel, Rayman and other things. Not only that but they are helping to create a game for Virtual Console!

Some key points:

-Red Steel seems built around the strange control scheme
-Rayman is hilarious and worth a purchase
-Some concerns over Nintendo not emphasizing 480p in the future.
-Wii will have alot of casual games (Ian will probaly freak over that)
-nerf 3rd Party Wii controllers
-Discussion of Virtual Console
-Potential of Metroid Prime to revolutionize FPS controls
-1:1 controls are indeed possible
-And more!

I could've sworn they said there wouldn't be two PS3 SKUs, either. And that they're not doing a centralized online service.

I like Sony's fact sheet, it makes it abundantly clear that you should buy the Wii.

This "Fact" sheet is pretty weak, next thing you know Sony will play a 360 game versus the PS3 counterpart....and not mention one is running in HD and one isnt.

Naah, they'll make their own comic series where MS is an evil syndicate run by robots that want to corrupt our children and whose console ships with a CD shooter that doesn't even compare!!

Lol you have a point with it making Wii look like the best buy, those N/As for most of the categories tell me as a consumer that you don't need all that pointless stuff for 500-700$ .

I am so shocked, and Sony was doing EVERYTHING right up to this point.

If you look at the Fact Sheet itself and ignore the price thing its ok but not more than that.

Yeah nothing screams game console like packing in a movie .

But even then...iPods are for music. Just about everyone listens to music.

Not everyone plays video games, and those are the people Nintendo wants to reach out to.

I mean, by that logic everyone could just buy an Xbox 360 on a whim, it doesn't cost much more.

I still think you don't need to a mass marketing blitz until a couple weeks out when you will most likely sell out of your first shipment on launch day. The most important time to market is if and when you have systems available in the store.

Those are the niggling details that caught my eye. But seriously, overall, nothing more, nothing less than was expected.

Speaking of battery replacement, do you guys remember before DS (or maybe it was GBA SP?) came out how people were freaking that you couldn't replace the battery that you needed a special screwdriver and that you would probaly have to send it into NIntendo?

Wow PS3's launch lineup looks terribly generic, most of the games are ports and/or sports games. The only "unique" exclusive games I see are Untold Legends, Resistance and Genji.

Spak you have a good point in regards to the media not getting games, I think this is because there is alot of polishing still left to do and they want to focus on that.

I disagree with the control price since he seems to ignore that Xbox 360's isn't much less than nunchuck/wiimote combo. In addition to that I feel the lack media advertisements is minor and my guess it will start kicking in full bore soon. Nintendo doesn't have the financial resources to stretch out advertising like Sony so I think it is best they wait until the last minute, besides you don't need that much advertising until the system is about to come out.

Galford is right, the Wii remote is not very friendly to certain types of games.  That's why the classic controller exists.  Just like arcade controllers exist for people who really want that authentic fighting game feel.  And Joysticks exist for people who won't play flight sims any other way.  And instruments exist for music games.  And that huge-arse control console exists for Xbox fans that want a more immersive Mech game.

However, the argument from Nintendo's end is that this is going to become the new standard, just like the NES pad replaced Joysticks 20 years ago, and analog practically replaced the d-pad 10 years ago.

Is Nintendo right?  Maybe, maybe not.  Many previews have surprisingly praised the controller in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, in spite of the fact that it's a very traditional style of game.  Racing games, Rayman, and Madden have also all gotten good previews.  FPS's are having trouble, but IGN's last Metroid Prime 3 preview was really positive - maybe it doesn't beat a keyboard and a mouse, but if it can beat old-fashioned controllers, that's a start.  If one or two genres fall by the wayside but it provides a better experience overall (and especially for "non" games) then it won't matter except to some hardcores...who, once again, can buy the classic controller.

Maybe it was IGN or something but they said that each control method has its pluses and minuses (personally I think the control pad has a TON of them for FPSs). With the Wiimote I can't help but thing that there is a good chance the controls in Red Steel are fine if you become experienced with the game which is why Ubisoft has not changed them (Sensitivity options may shake things up too).

So wait, there is only one remaining but they can get other colors? Wha?

Anyway, I'm sure a "0 History" account will be the highest bidder when it closes (as one is right now), and then never pay costing the person who listed this some money in the end... so everything will work out.

Hopefully but I remember back a year ago how people were bidding like 200-500$ for that mcdonald's monopoly game. Turns out the supposed winning pieces were actually cut out of the gameboard yet there were people who got burned big time.

Oh wait, is there enough USB ports to do that?  That will get annoying really quick considering all other wireless controller technology doesn't make you do that.

Yeah 360 lets you turn it on with the controller wirelessly, which is a great feature. I wonder what Sony's reason is for having such a goofy setup? Makes me think more and more they let the functionality and quality of the PS3 go by the wayside in order to try and perfect the blu-ray player.

BUT, as soon as something comes out, it's final. He can release an updated re-mastered special edition, and that's cool, BUT the original release will still be the definitive version. After all, a delayed game can eventually become good, but a solo-shot-first movie will remain that way forever.

Well we definately disagree there I think that whatever the creator of the original decides they want to do should be the definitive version since it is their creation. I hold the same opinion towards authors who decided to update or revise their novels, since it is their creation whatever they are creating should be the true version, the only time this would not be the case is if someone else was doing the updating.

Mr. Jack how close do you sit to your TV? I heard that makes a difference as well when it comes to 1080p, I'll probaly be at least 7 ft from mine if I get a 32-40 incher.

Well I dunno if those were worth 25$ or not but my geeky self had to have them and they will help you to tell the Wiimotes apart. BTW that green one, since you can't see it, has a triforce engraved beneath the home button or whatever that is (which is right beneath where the A button is).

I don't know if you guys are aware of this or not but many of the Target stores are selling Wii accessories right now from dog tags, to controller gloves to carrying cases etc. Really I shouldn't have looked because I just had to pick on up and here is what I got for 25$.
