Shigeru Miyamoto - Nintendo fan boys (and girls) go gaga over everything “Shiggy” says, but come on. He doesn’t create games by himself. Sometimes, he joins teams and, whether he intends to or not, receives all of the credit. He earned his place among the industry elite, thanks to his early contributions, but please add new (and memorable) characters to the Mario universe. Even better, come up with new IPs. Introduce us to new worlds and faces instead of falling back on the same overused franchises. In addition, cut back on the forced appearances. We feel uncomfortable watching you conducting imaginary orchestras and swinging the Master Sword to make gamers cry with joy.
Some others on this list are Hideo Kojima (MGS), David Jaffe (God of War), Koji Igarashi (Castlevania), and Reggie (who is number 1, Miyamoto is 2). Personally I think this list is an insult to Miyamoto, ranking him as more overrated than Jaffe, Igarashi or even Kojima seems like a freaken insult, the man has created more influential games and genres than them put together. Reggie, I don't really care about his placement, personally I feel he has been lacking a bit as president and seems more talk than action, though I could definatley be proven wrong down the line. It is kind of funny though, I was thinking of creating a topic based around overrated game designers but gamedaily beat me to it with their stupid analysis!
