New avatar.

New Avatar.

You need to post an image of the new avatar in the thread for the sake of preservation.  I missed the cadaver completely because you changed too fast.  :(
Consider yourself lucky...

Ugh, I can't stand Jack Daniels, the mere scent of it makes me want to puke.

The beer one is very true though.

How old are you anyway?

Mop it up someone wise once told me that if you are playing well than you are going to be a target.
I was hit on the second night, does this mean I was playing well and didn't even realize it?

Was Peach really a lightweight in SNES version? She's a medium weight now right?
I'm not sure about the SNES version, but I think she was. I was talking about the N64 version, in which the lightweights are Toad, Peach, and Yoshi.

Mario Kart Wii doesn't go by weight class anymore, and instead goes by size: small, medium, and large. Characters have their own stats bonuses, and so some characters within the same class are heavier than others. Peach, Daisy, Bowser Jr, and Diddy Kong have no weight stat bonus, Yoshi and Birdo have +3, and Mario and Luigi have +6. So Peach is on the light end of the medium-size class.

Here are some hands-on impressions:

http://sonicstadium.org/article/preview/tss-hands-on-mario-sonic-at-the-olympic-winter-games

Here are some choice quotes:

Quote
Speaking of Dream Events Sega have been working closely with Nintendo and have been granted much more freedom with them meaning more items will appear from Sonic and Mario’s world to be used in whatever bizarre races they have planned this time.
Sounds good. The first game wasn't fantastical enough.

Quote
The Olympic Committee has been keeping a watchful eye over things as well dictating that the game must be referred to as the “Olympic Winter Games” rather than just the “Winter Olympics”
Well that explains the strange word order.

Quote
Spectators look a lot livelier and less like cardboard cut-outs and character animation in general has improved to allow more expression in the cast.
Good to hear, the first game was pretty static and kind of stiff.

Quote
During certain races you’re given the ability to ‘boost’ by tapping the A button on the Wii Remote. The animation is different for each character but is usually a throwback to the past. Sonic for example does a spindash while Tails lifts a few feet from the air and propels himself forwards with his twin tails. Mario on the other hand has a spinning move as last seen in Mario Galaxy and Luigi appears to shoot himself forwards out of an imaginary cannon as seen in Smash Bros.
Could be interesting.

Quote
The outcome of the summer Olympics was kept ambiguous but for the Wii version of the sequel Sega is panning a ‘Festival Mode’. This mode pits the two teams against each other in two separate campaigns to decide an ultimate winner of the Olympic Winter Games.
Awesomesauce. In the first game, it didn't really feel like these were rivals competing with one another because they didn't interact. Does anyone remember the commercials for the first game where Mario and Sonic were always trying to hinder one another? That's what this game should be like.

Doesn't Birdo play a rather large role in Captain Rainbow?
Large? No. And he isn't a playable character. He's just one of the NPCs you have to help grant the wish of. He gets "wrongly" imprisoned for using the woman's restroom, and you have to help prove his "womanhood". The less said there, the better.

...And yes, Birdo is a large reason why Captain Rainbow is never coming to North America.

Daisy needs her own game.
Wrong wrong WRONG! The characters of the Marioverse deserve to have their own games in the order of their appearances. Donkey Kong got a spin-off first, then Luigi, then Peach. Okay, so there are many characters who got their spin-off out of order (Toad, Yoshi, Wario), but that isn't right! Next in line is BIRDO! He's long overdue! And it wouldn't be some generic platformer either. It would be titled "Shopping With Birdo", and it would be a sort of puzzle game where you have to buy clothes, accessories and such to match Birdo's unique tastes.

It would be EPIC.

« on: May 01, 2009, 08:17:17 PM »
Banjo-Tooie is an awesome game, it was one of the "last hurrah" games on the N64. I'm still amazed at how large some of the worlds are, it really goes to show you what the N64 was capable of when a developer actually tried. That they managed it without the use of the Expansion Pak is all the more mind-boggling.

The FPS levels might have been more interesting if they didn't recycle levels from Goldeneye. I know it was supposed to be a throwback, but it seemed more like an excuse to be lazy.

It's great that it is being re-released, even if it isn't on a Nintendo system. I recommend that anyone with even a slight interest in platformers give the game a go.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat however, is an instant purchase. I fail at life.
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat has revised levels. Out of all of the NPC games, it is the only one which might qualify as a remake instead of a re-release.

They removed the Koopa Troopa who was my bro's fav & replaced him with Wario. 3 large racers to one small? Ugh.
Yoshi and Peach are also lightweights, they get knocked around just like Toad does.

Here are three ways to avoid buying a pirated game on eBay:

-Check the item location. If it's Hong Kong, it's counterfeit. There's no way it isn't.

-If the seller doesn't use proper English or says something vague or possibly untrue, it could be a counterfeit item.

-If there's no picture of the item, you're basically taking a stab in the dark.

Here is an auction which violates all three:

The Wii memory however applies to all the games you play and even extra content such as messages and channels, so now this possible limit of 100,000 could potentially present a problem sooner than one might think.
I would also wager that the 100k is extremely conservative.
The other day when I was managing my GameCube memory cards, I was thinking about this again. The memory card I got with my GameCube back in 2001 is the one which has always had my Super Smash Brothers Melee data on it. I've played SSBMelee more than I'd care to admit... but I need to use it as an example. I've played over 100,000 matches, and the game saves at least twice per match: once before the match begins, and once when the match is finished. So, that alone would be at least 200,000 writes to my memory card, and that's not counting the saves from playing other modes or from the various other game data which has been saved to it throughout the years.

Obviously the GameCube memory cards can withstand a lot more than the predicted 100,000 writes for flash memory. With the Wii internal memory being tied to the entire system and non-replaceable, I'd think it would be at least up to the quality of GameCube memory cards, if not better considering it was released five years later. Therefore I'd say it's going to be a long time before I (or anyone) had to worry about the Wii internal memory reaching its write limit and possibly becoming corrupted.

A little more on-topic, I still haven't downloaded this update. Hooray me!

I want physical copies. I want to display my boxes, cases, and games on shelves. I'm not sure how many collectors are out there in the world but I can tell you every single one of them are not happy about digital distribution.

Perhaps the "special edition" of download games would be a physical copy for us collectors?

I liked the Super Mario Kart Rainbow Road. Yeah, it's flat but no barriers to keep you from falling off the track & all the turns were sharp 90 degree ones. A pretty tough challenge for those that love to drift as often as possible.
True, it's the only Super Mario Kart track that's better than an N64 track.

DS was probably the easiest Rainbow Road as there were barriers everywhere & the only real way to fall off course were if you hit by at item at a certain spot(think it was the loop but I forget exactly now).
The N64 one is the same way, so I guess the DS one is just as boring. The only thing I like about the N64 Rainbow Road is the music.

16767
Unfortunately digital distribution is inevitable, and it's yet another sad reflection on the age of technology. I can only hope it doesn't happen within my lifetime, or at least the portion of my life when I actually care.

I also doubt the sale of used games hurts the industry as much as some people say, given that the money people get from selling their games often goes towards buying new games. But I guess we'll never know until physical copies are out of the equation.

Where did you buy it from?

Don't worry, BFS the cookies were not tasty anyway.
I'm never baking anything for you again.

Anyway I think I played a good game.
I agree on that, I'm sorry to see you here.

Regardless, it's just one more person who says they would not kill if they were mafia and I like that. If I can get all players to agree to this, I will be one happy camper.
In the last game, I witnessed first-hand the incredible lengths you're willing to go. I was kind of disappointed to see you out first in this game because I'm curious what you'd cook up when you're on the other side. I wouldn't want to kill you because I'd be too curious to see what kind of crazy scheme you'd come up with.

Conglaturation ! ! !

I recommend that you play Wii Sports first, it's an awesome game.
If I were you, I'd sell SSBBrawl and get Mario Kart Wii instead.

16771
You liked Fahrenheit 451 then?
I don't know what that is.

Wii Rainbow Road is awesome, one of the best tracks in the game. The one in Double Dash!! is pretty good too. Mario Kart 64's is way too long and uneventful. Super Mario Kart Super Circuit are both flat, dull, and boring. I never played DS.

Ha ha, I know the feeling. There are some tracks which really throw me off when I play them on Mirror, and Rainbow Road is one of them.

Welcome to Mario Kart Anonymous. You can tell us anything, nothing will leave this thread. Now, where did the blue shell touch you?

I'm pretty sure Perfect Dark let you turn blood on or off with a menu option.
It didn't let you turn it "off" per se, but if you used the "Paintball" option, the blood would be multi-coloured.

Hi!
Welcome to the Dead Thread. Take your shoes off at the door, don't want to track in dirt. We have some cookies left, but they're probably stale by now.
