I figure it's going to be a "director's cut" type of game that will spawn an endless debate over what constitutes a sequel. Either way, it's gonna be heavy on the Smash 4 content in one way or another.

Their thinking is probably that people who played Luigi's Mansion 2 are more likely to grab the port of 1 on 3DS since LM2 is also on 3DS. I think 2 sold more than 1, so there are a number of people who have played 2 but not 1.

Who cares, both chickens and eggs are delicious.

Looks like the next NA Splatfest is the age-old debate of Chicken vs Egg.

My friends and I have decided on Team Egg, but we're not sure if all of us can make it at the same time. Is there anyone here who would like to try joining our Team Egg team? We don't really care about winning, just having fun, so anyone is welcome.

880 is the total number of unique moons across all of the lists, yes. To reach 999, you have to buy the rest from the shops.

Luigi's Balloon World is a great way to earn coins for those moons, and any remaining costumes you have left to buy.

Diablo III has co-op, right? If so, I could probably go for that.

Here is a photo I snapped with the new neon filter:

When I saw the Knight costume, this was the first thing which came to mind:

I enjoyed the original Xenoblade the most, but I think it's largely because it was first.

1285
I saw something about people putting the balloons in "out of bounds" areas.  I haven't tried the mode myself yet, but I hope Nintendo can patch it because that's obnoxious.
That would be a tricky thing to patch, I think. Fixing all of those collision glitches is quite an undertaking for a side mode, and I'm not sure if they could make a way to "detect" when the balloon is placed inside a wall.

It's mainly an issue in Metro Kingdom. I just make a note of the arrow and distance for any I find in another kingdom, and then it's easy to avoid those balloons.

1286
Anyone else try Balloon World yet? It's also a good way to rack up coins quickly, for those of you who still have costumes and moons left to buy.

It's too bad you can't play the game using the photo filters, that'd be pretty trippy.

Unfortunately, Balloon World has further exposed collision glitches in the game. After searching for balloons in every kingdom, I would say the Metro Kingdom is by far the most problematic with balloons hidden inside solid obstacles. It seems to be the world with the most collision glitches, though I s'pose that makes some sense as it seems to have the most complex geometry. There is also a popular spot in Mushroom Kingdom with balloons inside the solid part of the bridge to the castle, but that's right by the start point so it's easy to notice those balloons are glitched. I also ran into one in Cascade and Cap Kingdoms, but I have yet to come across them in the other worlds yet. They may exist, just haven't found them yet. I've taken note of the arrow direction and distance for the glitch spots, so I can avoid the ones I know about now. Metro Kingdom is the only trouble world since there are so many glitch spots.

I pre-ordered the Super Mario Encyclopedia because I lack self-restraint.
Sounds interesting. Is this a book (or books), or something else?

The addition of motion aiming makes me more likely to grab this game at some point.

If an actual new Smash Bros. game releases this year, I'll eat my cat.

As far as sequels go, Melee is the outlier, having been released on the same year it was shown to the public.
Yeah, and if I remember rightly the game was rushed out for the GameCube launch window, leaving it with something like eleven months of development time. I doubt Nintendo will be rushing out the next game.

Doesn't the 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors run extremely poorly without the NEW 3DS model? That would limit its appeal on 3DS. It's one reason why I didn't get that version and am waiting for the Switch version instead.

1292
This would be less ridiculous if this weren't already $5 more than buying digital. Shouldn't that cover the cost?

Speaking of, are there any actual sources on how much it costs to manufacture the various sizes of Switch game cards compared to PS4 and Xbone discs? I hear a lot of talk about it but haven't seen any numbers.

Can't have one of these without me.

I also fear that if Nintendo goes with ports for this and Mario Kart that we may not get a proper new release for those series on the Switch.  We don't get multiple games in those series for one platform.  Are we going to get a Mario Kart 9 on the Switch or does the MK8 port "count"?
That's what bums me out too. I'm ready for a Mario Kart 9, but it's probably years away at minimum.

So I was curious to see how Boom Blox Bash Party (also Wii) would improve on the formula since it received higher ratings.

Initially, things seemed pretty normal. A few new concepts thrown in, and it felt like they lost focus somewhere along the way because there was a lot of time spent on ideas that weren't as good or "pure" as they focused on in the original.
Interesting you would say that, as I felt the sequel did a mostly good job avoiding the types of levels which felt borderline broken in the original Boom Blox. Not to say there aren't still some with frustrating mechanics, but on the whole the level design felt a lot more solid to me. Though, I still find both games to be lacking overall, but I liked the sequel better.

0 for 3 now, yikes.

It will make a double post but I might as well provide an update here. I ended up finding Paper Mario Color Splash on sale over the holidays, so that covers it for me. A friend also gave me Star Fox Zero for my birthday so that hole has been filled as well. Hyrule Warriors has since been announced for Switch, so that handles another game I didn't get for Wii U and I'll probably grab it on Switch at some point. Same for Pokken. Bayonetta 1 and 2 are also going to Switch, but I think I still don't care about those games and won't be getting them.

I've been thinking about the remaining Nintendo-published Wii U games I don't yet have and evaluating what I might want, so I might as well post about the list here.

Devil's Third - I was mildly curious about it, but it was the kind of thing I'd grab for $20. A small print run ensured its price would never drop, so I won't be getting it. I highly doubt they will bother porting this to Switch since they barely released it on Wii U as is.

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water - I don't care for horror games so I'm fine without this.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse - This game looked okay, but I still haven't played my copy of Canvas Curse on DS so it didn't seem worth buying a sequel just yet. I may try searching for a copy if I ever get around to the DS game and like it. A Switch port sounds dubious, but I guess you never know.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD - Since I already own this game on Wii, I don't care too much about this version and wouldn't want to pay that much for it. I have seen it on sale before but it sold out before I was able to snag a copy, so I may have missed my chance. This one might be ported to Switch, but it's tough to say.

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games - I think these games are okay so I usually pick them up when they get cheap. However, as one of the last Wii U games released, few copies were produced, resulting in it maintaining its price. Doesn't look like I'll be getting it for Wii U and a port seems extremely unlikely, but the game doesn't look very good anyway so I'm okay with that.

Mario Tennis Ultra Smash - This game seems pretty bare-bones. I still considered picking it up as recently it's dropped in price to around $20, however now that Mario Tennis Aces is announced for Switch I see no reason to get this game for any price.

NES Remix Pack - Since I received the first NES Remix from Club Nintendo, I would have just been getting this for the second game. Even at the Selects pricing, I didn't really want it. I may still grab it at some point, but I'm okay without it. Port seems unlikely, but I could see a new "Remix" game happening such as SNES or Game Boy.

SiNG Party - Ah, the failed launch experiment no one seems to remember. I have no interest in it either.

Wii Sports Club - This didn't seem to offer enough over the original Wii Sports to be worth it to me. It must not have sold very well as there don't seem to be very many copies floating around, so it definitely doesn't seem worth the price. I can't see Nintendo porting this due to the Wii name. I wouldn't mind seeing a new sports compilation from Nintendo that uses the Joy-Cons, though.

Wii Fit U - I doubt they will port this for similar reasons as the above. I've always been curious about the Wii Fit games but never got around to picking up any. There are enough Balance Boards out there that I could get one for a reasonable price, so I might still grab this at some point. Just hasn't been a priority.

Overall, I think I may be about finished with Wii U game buying (Nintendo-published or otherwise), and also feel okay with that. There are just a few things I would get for the right price, but nothing I strongly want and would be okay sticking with my current collection. I also prefer to buy new since used discs are a crapshoot, and it could become increasingly difficult to find new condition games at reasonable prices now that most stores have just about stopped carrying the games.

I haven't really been following other systems lately, but I'm sure there are some things I would want.

What was so wrong with this thread?
To be fair, that thread specifically asked about Wii U ports, even if later Adrock gave the okay for others. This thread seems to be asking more generally about systems like PS4 and Xbox One. Maybe I'm splitting hairs but the two threads do feel a bit different for me.

So what are my final thoughts on Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Wii U)?  Mixed...
Oof, you're now 0 for 2 when it comes to some of my fave games. It's a pity, just when you were starting to get back onto my good side...
