This is a terrible idea.

Is there anyone who WON'T realize when they're suddenly playing against a CPU? I've yet to play against a CPU in a SSB game which isn't painfully obvious, and I'm sure they'll have it fixed, but the E4All CPU videos weren't exactly encouraging.

Beyond that, if your opponent drops out of fear, you should win, period. I understand they didn't want to destroy the continuity of the match, but I don't like the fact that I could be continuing the game against a CPU when I went online to fight human players. I'd rather the match end and I jump into my next match against humans faster.

To each their own, but you sound like you're covering for Sakurai.

We had this information years ago in the form of Metroid Hunters and its online mode which gave you the same choices, minus character selection. There's nothing new or worthwhile in this update, only that I can expect to start playing battles against humans but finish them against CPUs, which completely sucks ass since I can play against CPUs offline and I went online to fight human players.

I don't think it's a good idea that my scud of an opponent can drop a game and force me to defeat a bot or else I too get a disconnect by leaving the game.

I mean, if I dropped, I'd think, "Ha! That poor fool is going to keep playing a bot because he has no choice!" I couldn't think of a better revenge against a player that was better than you than forcing them to fight a CPU for the remainder of the match. It's like the game doesn't acknowledge that you intimidated your opponent but instead carries on like nothing is wrong when you clearly have a bot to mop up.

I was really looking forward to being able to jump into online play at any time and get practice against human players. This kills that for me because half the time will probably be spent against bots because of dropping assclowns. It's a neat idea in theory, but in practice, this will suck. I just hope it gives us the option to end the game when all the human players have dropped on you.

By holding platforms at the wrong times and wasting all the star bits, you can be very, VERY unhelpful.

And then there's the fact that the 2nd player can force Mario to jump...

I suspect that it'll see another delay in the US and Japan as well.

As usual, NoE is just the first to announce changes in release dates.

It supposedly got delayed in Europe well past Q2.

I think we'll see a delay in the US and Japan as well.

The wiimote, for example, has a relatively small window of vision when just 4 feet away from the TV in my dorm room, preventing me from using Ghost Squad's calibration option because I'm just not far enough to see the IR signals when I'm pointing at some of my TV's corners.

While that's true, you're not supposed to be that close to the TV because it's bad for your eyes...

Some are dumb, but others are pretty good, like the one where Wario farts on a fire flower and the one about clones being kicked out.

Playing through it. It's pretty decent, and can keep a room full of folks entertained, which is hard to do for an RPG.

Anyone else playing it?

I F*CKING hope they don't release it the same week as Brawl...

It'll get murdered in sales if it does. This game needs all the attention it can get, not to be overshadowed by the biggest Wii game ever...

This game is going to be awesome for the characters alone.

And Travis has a kitten named Jeanne. Instabuy right there.

2. The music thing already happened in Melee. Both F-Zero stages had that one song from Mach Rider (or something like that..,). Besides, don't you always say that music updates aren't good because you are too busy fighting to notice the music?

1. People were speculating that final smashes would be necessary for character balance. This throws that idea out the window.

2. This means that Ashley's Theme being in the game has less influence on her chances for inclusion than we thought.

It wasn't a character reveal, but these were two pieces of the puzzle for us.

Nope, this WAS a worthwhile update.

This confirmed 2 things, that smash balls can be deactivated in the item switch and that music can come from any game, not necessarily franchises represented in the game.

The sad part is that if Namco had put as much love into this game as they did with previous SC titles, this could have been something REALLY incredible.

A co-op Mario and Luigi would need to be like Four Swords: built from the ground up to be a multiplayer game.

It'd be neat, but I doubt we'll see it.

That's unkind.

The game wasn't terrible, it just falls firmly into the hack n' slash genre, something SC has never typically been about. Some people might still enjoy it.

It's just clear that they didn't give the game as much love as it needed.

Take popcorn, now create a ball out of it using either caramel or cheese as an adhesive and you have your answer.

This will be awesome: if I win, I get silliness. If I lose, I get a good SSBB update.

It's a shame, as if they had just given the game a bit more polish, it would could have been pretty solid.

Sure was.

I got 2 popcorn balls off of it!

The funny part? Ubisoft beat Nintendo to the punch on this one via the co-op Splinter Cell campaign which has two agents cooperating through a series of areas as they rely completely on each other for all sorts of crazy actions, like flinging each other over gorges.

The better the team, the better you did. It was surprisingly well done and proved that a multiplayer mode dedicated to multiple players is easily possible. A similar concept with Mario and Luigi could be insanely fun. If they can rethink Zelda puzzles for Four Swords, they could bring the Bros. back for their own adventure, for sure.

Well, rented this through gamefly and it was a short discussion. Sent it back after maybe 30 minutes.

It feels like a tech demo for the potential for a game, as the controls are actually not so bad and the combat system is pretty neat, but the crap graphics, tiny, bland environs and repetitive enemies just kill the experience.

I don't believe Namco made this game: this was likely outsourced to some other company for production because there's no way in hell SC has ever looked this bad.

The co-op mode is sectioned off into smaller levels which don't affect the main quest, which sucks. It would have been much more fun co-op and if there was some kind of leveling system.

The real killer, though, is that it's just another dungeon crawl: kill the enemies, the door opens, get past a few traps, kills some more enemies, kill a moderately difficult boss. The Wii controls work well enough, but the overall game just can't save itself from the fact that it's a dungeon crawl and not a multiplayer one, even.
