Easycure:  I love your 1Up Idea for stock battles.  That would be great.

The levels to me need tons of interaction, but not tons of chaos.

The scrolling levels, although cool, really made battles more frustrating than fun.  Instead of going that direction so much...have characters, creatures, items, themed events that fit the level work.  Also more changing levels like the Pokemon level could be cool.

Yoshi's Story Book level, should have pages that turn and then the Level Pops Up like a Children's book.  Each Page could represent a different level or different theme from the game.

I really can't figure out what the surprise is.

But, I am curious and excited to see what Nintendo is capable of doing.  They are really quite impressive when they go all out on games, hardware and ect.  Always thinking outside the box to where we can't even fathom what the creators are thinking.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Some things I need to get off my chest about Wii
« on: April 28, 2006, 08:07:45 AM »
Welcome to WA  formerly NA.

First, I would like to thank you all for being strong and standing with Nintendo even when it was called ""I LOVE HALO 2"" and even when you thought there was no hope for Nintendo to be cool again.

I see that a number of you have already committed suicide over Nintendo's new announcement.  Everyone else thank you for being strong.

I have something I must announce to all of you now though.  I actually like the name Wii.  I love everything about it.  Sure the initial shock was stunning, but just look at the name in print.  It's sexy, It's cool.  I want to make love to it, all night.  I even think its a fun to say, and really imaginative.

So I come here to tell you.  I love Wii.  And I don't know what that means for my life...but thank you all for being supportive of me.  This is truly a time of need for all of us Wii fans.

Ceric:  Your probably right.  Then maybe for a different fighting game.  I just think the controller lends to really cool 3D fighting because you can use the 3D space recognition to attack literally in any direction.  That is an awesome first.

I see where everyone is coming from.  But its a gut reaction.  Its a first reaction towards something without little context and understanding to the decisions and name in general.

Basically several people feel Nintendo has sucker punched them.  Taking what you believed as a relatively cool name, that you have been hyping and supporting for over a year, and replacing it with an odd name that is hard to grasp and understand.  As Nintendo admitted in its interview at first it sounds wierd.

But we aren't going to be living in the land of first thoughts and images when the system is released.  We will be dealing with a market that has been saturated with the Wii image, and a market that has embraced it.

As I said before, I believe it is a very ellegant name once you get used to it.  I believe it actually does roll off the tongue and is easy to say...once you get over yourselfs about it.

If you are having a hard time with the name.  Go to revolution.ign.com  see the new name in the context of the system.  They have already changed the site name and it looks great.  Even spotting the name along the links doesn't look odd.

The only thing anyone is complaining about is pronouncing the word, and that image as stated before will fade in the future.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Madden Revolution - Brand New Game
« on: April 27, 2006, 01:06:55 PM »
I really like that EA is trying to create a new experience.  I think the Quarterback control scheme is brilliant, and so is the running game.  However, I am worried about the kicking game mechanics.

I may be interested in playing Sports games again.

Though I must admit I wish this wasn't Madden but the EA BIG Series, because I can think they will come up with a killer Control System for doing tricks in game using the Wii Remotes.

So when you are talking with your friends.  Do you immediately think of urine when you say "Hey what do we want to do?"

Do your friends comment back.  "I dunno why you want to DO PEE, but we don't."

Seriously, by the time this thing is in the stores employees and gamers all over the world will be used to and comfortable with the name.

Wee does not have to mean Pee.  Specially when it isn't even called WEE, but Wii.

Everyone is latching on to this really utterly STUPID comparision to a children's slang word, that is hardly used in Elementary schools.

The name may not be as hip as you like, but you people are exaggerating the names effects.  And its childish...and not to sound like a broken record its STUPID.

Read everything Nintendo has put out about the name.  Start thinking intellectually and outside the box.  The name has huge promise.  And Nintendo is going to change all cultural reference to Wii and it will be known as a word to describe a Nintendo System.  Period.

There are other things to discuss and other elements of the new system to get excited about.

I am beginning to think it would be cool for this Smash Brothers to go completely 3D.  I think with the controller it could easily be done in a way that can still allow for great multiplayer action.

Wii

you could pronounce it differently and make it cool.

"Why"

"Way"

But "We" still works.

I don't think it is I LOVE HALO 2.  I think it is a simple, pure name.  It is attractive to several different type of people, and isn't intimidating.

Xbox 360 is an intimidating name to nongamers.  Heck its confusing to even gamers.  They jumped Xbox 2 and went straight to 3...but needed a cooler name for it?  What?

PS3 is just a number.  It means nothing.  Playstation 3 means something, but it also has an image with it.

Nintendo Wii is elegant in so many ways.  It seems like a bold sophisticated and cultured name.  And that will appeal to adults, women, and such.

Nintendo will appeal to the gamers, or SHOULD.

Do people say Xbox 360 when they refer to the new system?  Usually they just say Xbox or maybe though pretty Rare 360.

Same with Playstation.  It is either I am playing Playstation (70%) or PS2.

In that aspect is why I just say Nintendo.  I sometimes say do you want to play Gamecube but usually I just say do you want to play Nintendo.

There are two other options.  Nintendo is throwing the name out there...or NOA may have perhaps another means of announcing it.

I like the name.  If I am going to be one of the few fine.

Ok. Its a freaking name...it means nothing.

Like Xbox 360 is a good name.  The 360 means nothing.

Like Playstation 3 is an imaginative name.

Nintendo Wii is creative.  It is a name that is more a symbol then a name.  The question isn't how you pronounce it.  The question is how you view the image.  Also I am curious if this means something more in Japanese or another language.  Perhaps we are just judging it with our American eyes and mind.

If you take the press announcement away from it.  And you stop thinking about how to pronounce it.  I really like the LOOK of the name.

Nintendo Wii

or

Nintendo wii

looks cool.  Its modern and abstract.  Its nontraditional, nonconformist cool.

I like the name.  I probably will more just refer to the system in conversation as "That's the new Nintendo."  But I am not going to hate a system because of a name.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:What do you want in Smash Bros. Revolution?
« on: April 27, 2006, 08:16:49 AM »
How about we move this conversation back to the original discussion topic.  What we want to see in Smash Bros. Revolution.

I would like to see some new items with more diversty in their benefits.

Legend of Zelda Items:

Mirror Shield:  Deflects all projectiles and absorbs damage from attacks blocked with it.  After it takes about 75-100% damage it breaks.  The Shield can also be used to attack by swinging it around.

Giant Hammer:  The Hammer can act like the Bat with Smash attacked.  But with a normal attack it reacts as a slow powerful attack causing massive damage percentage.  This weapon can't be thrown.

Ocarina:  Allows a character to teleport once out of trouble.

Various Lasers:

Bouncing Beam:  A gun whose blasts will bounce off of walls, shields, and such.  This weapon would be great for trick shots against opponents.

Short Range Spread Beam:  A staple of all shooting games is the spread shot.  Contra is the classic example of this gun.  Smash Brothers needs a short range version of this gun that shoots out a wide spread shot of 4 blasts which have a short range before they disappear.

Metroid Items:

Metroids should be like the Bob-Bombs.  They are unleashed on the field and attack the characters with the strongest life.  After causing knocked off its victim it will automatically move to another victim until killed.

Metroid Health items could replace some of the food items to allow more Metroid items in the mix.

Targeting Visor:  collect the targeting visor and projectiles and items you throw will automatically target the closest character to you.  It won't home in on the characters, but it will give you the ability to attack diagonially and such.

Various other elements.

I would like something new done with Pikachu.  I think it would be cool that if you allow him to take 150%-200% damage he can evolve into Ryachu.  This will cause Pikachu to be slower, but have more powerful attacks and be heavier (harder to knock off) Once evolved Ryachu can use healing items and stay the same.  If the character is killed Pikachu returns to the game.

Mario I think you are one of the few people that desire to play single player only in that means.

SSBM had a single player experience like that called the Event Battles.  They were brilliant in their challenge and design, but rewarded you for accomplishing the tasks, not just random you one this battle screen.

I think it is safe to say that the game will be polished and have solid gameplay (Nintendo usually doesn't have ass its big games.)  So the only question is going to be will we enjoy the control changes that come with the Revolution controller.  I believe we will.  I can see the control system really changing the entire experience for the better.

I think a really good combo system is definately needed.  Melee worked to include combos in the game, and they were somewhat successful, but I want a better combo system.  One that can caculate combos that hit several people and can transition even to completely different targets.

I don't them to just be push button stuff, but I want something that can calculate stringing moves together to hit several characters.

Perhaps count combos as normal, but also tally Strings in which it is how many successful hits on opponents you can do without getting hit or going 2-3 seconds without attacking someone.

Even in the full size picture it looks bad.  Look at the other girls.  They have the expression of "What the Hell...why is she doing that!!!"

See I believe in a Japanese and US simultanous launch.  I don't think it will launch in September.  They still need to build and put the untils together.

That is why I believe October is the date.

Orgasms.  What I was just talking about E3 excitement.  You had to go turn it sexual with your dirty mind.

With the Exception of Bill.  Bill needs cute anime women he can dress up any way he chooses.

(Don't worry Bill.  I always play as the female characters in the games also.  They seem to fit my play style.  Fast, Deadly, Fun to watch animated.

By the way nice Picture.  Is the girl eating something or crying in a pillow...I know what its SUPPOSED to look like you sicko.

Kairon:

No you see until recently studies had shown mean and women were exactly the same.

So to say man is to say woman.

Basically I believe global warming as we see it doesn't exist.

I believe the universe goes through cycles and we may be warming up because severl external factors, but it will eventually cool again...then again we may actually not be warming at all and cooling.  There is so little evidence.

I remember reading a study that once said Orange Juice caused cancer...it was later retracted.

So I put very little faith in studies.

Kairon:  I don't buy all the studies that people do.  Sometimes results are measured as factual when really they should be inconclusive.

Science of the mind and people in general is very flawed...just like theortic Science usually is.

There are studies that say Global Warming is caused by man.  (Yeah right.)

So what is early Autumn look like.  Hmmm October release like I originally thought?

Yawn.  I have Mario Tennis.  I don't need any other Tennis game.

Seriously.  Once you own Mario Tennis and Mario Golf, that is all you need in that Genre of game.

Artimus:  Not completely.  I want to find out about it.  But I want to know peoples reactions.

Do they enjoy the games?  Are they fun to play?  What are the crowds like at all the booths?  How is everyone receiving Nintendo this time around?  Where is the largest buzz and excitement?

None of those questions can be answered at just the Press Conference.

I don't completely buy that we do are best thinking at a younger age.  It completely depends on the person and when they are motivated and inspired to work.

Usually that inspiration comes at a younger age while people are trying to prove themselves and create an identity.  However, several creative and professional areas require more age and wisdom of life before you can accomplish great masterpieces.

Some of those include:

Writing (Novels, Screenplays, theories, law)
Doctors
Lawyers

And I can bet much more.

Basically I think the above is a myth that isn't proven at all.
