BnM:  Young Justice Season 2 is really great.  It is a huge change in the show...but the end will make you angry...Cartoon Network cancelled show when it really needed a Season 3.

1253
Do you think they are going to time jump between the first and second half?

Will Age of Ultron air before the second half of season 2?  Or will it be in the middle?  I think if Age of Ultron is before SHIELD we will definitely get a time jump...and deal with the aftermath.  Personally, this is what I hope happens, because It would be better to come back and deal with the events of Age of Ultron without having a lame tie-in episode that feels too small scale to tie-in to the movie.

However, no matter I am expecting the next Marvel movie to have a huge game changing effect on SHIELD...this TV series needs to be constantly changing itself with the movies...or at least the huge event movies.  I can't wait to see what happens with SHIELD once Civil War breaks out.  That should be an entire season of stories in and of itself.

This is stupid.

You know I personally, don't like how everyone has to be related to each other by blood or friendship or some long deep secret in the X-men universe.

However, changing the relationship of characters in the comic books to line up with the movie universe you are creating, just because you don't like FOX and want to ruin them is annoying...and extreme.  Basically, you took a part of Magneto that made him interesting and parts of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (especially Quicksilver) that makes them interesting and destroyed it.  Taking it away from the comic fans that love these characters.

This move would have been better done a larger more massive overhaul eliminating Mutants all together.  Instead this just seems cheap.  Personally, I would have loved a story where Scarlet Witch eliminates mutants, but that only allows the Inhumans to come into power/existence faster.  Kinda of like a story which tries to stop the evil and madness from ever happening only to find out it is destined to happen one way or another...you can't stop, only change its name.

Well, the problem with the rumor and why Marvel would not go for that is simple.

Sony wanted to keep creative control.  If I was Marvel, I would let Sony keep production and distribution control, and profits but demand creative control and usage in Marvel universe.  Just basically tell Sony..."Look you suck at making Spiderman.  Let us make it for you and you get the money, but you have to take the monetary risks and investments...which isn't a risk, because well look at our track record."

But Sony would never go for that anyway.

You know what is really impressive, it appears when you choose some of the different skins, you play by that Mario game rules...and that makes it quite awesome.

It sounds very Korean-like English.  I mean Korean that has been put through a translator.  The complicated phrases is something I hear everyday…That said my wife disagrees, because it sounds too perfect.

You know, I like Terminator Salvation, and wished they had continued that series.  I didn't mind moving the series to PG-13, as to me blood is not necessary for this story to be scary or ruthless.

The movie I didn't like was Terminator 3.  I thought it was shallow, and I didn't care to see Judgement Day, because what that turned out to be was pretty uneventful.

This got me laughing. Yeah at least half of humanity disappearing in nuclear fireballs is uneventful.

Fear of blood and PG13 is a agrravating American movie cultural aberration that needs to die. It bloodless death reinforces violence without consequence. Yeah, in both cases the person is dead but without the blood the death is disconnected from reality. This is the culture that for some reason finds the classic Bugs Bunny cartoons offensive and refuses to make new classic BB cartoons, instead what we get is Two and Half Men: the cartoon or "Buzz Bunny".

Jai Courtney is Sam Worthington. Generally generic white dude with no charisma, completely interchangeable. They cast them as everyman or some jacked up version of one, but being flawless and flawlessly boring they don't represent a everyman like the one Bruce Willis in Die Hard brought to life. John Mcclane was great because we was flawed, he had issues to deal with before the violence, got injured in ways he didn't just walk off like he did in the later movies which were much closer to cartoons. It showed being a hero can seriously suck which made his triumph all the sweeter.

You miss my point.  Uneventful, because the way it happened wasn't that shocking, scary, or surprising.  It was just kinda added at the end, and OH...OK.  No real after effect of the event.

As for bloodless deaths.  That is not a problem.  It is deaths of characters and people that carry no weight and the people that witness them just move on, and so do the audience.  You can have bloody deaths that mean nothing and nobody cares...that is most horror movies.

I agree with you about Die Hard though.  That is a great series that purposely put its hero through the wringer and showed him seriously get hurt and not just magically heal.

Well actually I think the scene with the Argus fight makes sense.  Probably Barry was called by his team when the battle first started.  That means Barry has to travel from one city to the other, find out where the Arrow is...and wait to show boat to Ollie, because he did that to him the last time.

Makes perfect timing since.

I also like the idea of them playing the time travel rules and asking why didn't the Robots just send more and more robots earlier and earlier in the past.  I mean if you think about it....just send one robot into the past far enough to kill the ancestors of Sarah Conner.  Simple.

The movie I didn't like was Terminator 3.  I thought it was shallow, and I didn't care to see Judgement Day, because what that turned out to be was pretty uneventful.

Ceric:  If you read the comic you know Iris is Flash's Lois Lane.  They are forever meant to be together, and he always saves her, and if anybody or anything threatens her it is basically incurring the wrath of one of DC's most powerful Super Heroes...not smart.

I think both episodes were good.  I think the biggest problem with the Arrow episode was that all the interesting stuff happened in the first crossover.  The order should have been reversed...the Arrow episode dealing solely with Flash team and Barry learning to take crime fighting seriously...and learning that even with great power you must be smart.  Then the Flash episode should have been second and had the Flash vs. Arrow battle.

I personally didn't mind that Arrow let some of its characters take a backseat that episode, but I wish they wouldn't have wasted time on the flashback episodes.  Spending valuable time exploring something that really didn't need to be explored.  I think this is a problem when you are a slave to your own formula.  Lost also had this problem.

Khush I get what you are saying about the last battle with Boomerang.  However, I liked how Barry was Barry...and thought of the people first.  I also think that is partly why he didn't just tie Boomerang up.  Flash wants to show (much like Superman) that crime in his city is futile.  He also wants to inspire people to be better...to use powers for good.  He sees the potential good in people even when they are bad.

There is a reason the Rogue's although they hate Flash, respect him.  In the New 52 Forever Evil.  Captain Cold kills the "Evil Flash" and talks about how he would never kill the real Flash because of the mutual respect they have for each other.

TalkBack / Re: Super Smash Bros. Creator Likely Done With Franchise
« on: December 04, 2014, 08:45:32 PM »
I personally wouldn't mind if someone new stepped into the role of making the game.  The frame work and design principles are in place.  The concept of what the game is and isn't has been established.  I think find fresh blood to help make it something new and interesting while still keeping it Smash would be great.

So I hope Sakurai does step away from the series.  I also hope Iwata isn't stupid enough to drop a franchise because the original creator isn't directing it anymore.  Would Nintendo stop making Mario and Zelda games without Miyamoto's direction?  Of course not.  And I am also pretty sure Iwata didn't mean that quote, that he was just flattering Sakurai.

No I expect Smash Bros to show up on the next Nintendo System, and I expect it to be handled by a new team and new director, and I predict it will be great, possibly better than any previous Smash, because the new director will have something to prove.

Somebody need to leak the demands of the pirates.

They can never be met, but if I was the pirate, I would release some silly demands that seem trivial to get public perception even more on our side, and make it look like they are fighting a noble fight.  Even something as silly as forcing Sony to share 100% movie rights with Marvel.

Or not release the North Korean movie...or something.

I remember that conversation.

It may be true for many people.  I have found that it isn't true for me.  But another cost to gaming you have to calculate is if the hobby enriches your life.  I wish I had realized that gaming does very little to better your life...I should have been more committed to a sport or reading, or theater, or programming, or language study...or basically anything.

1265
I did quit gaming for that reason.  $400-500 a year...on a non console launch year, and that is just the bare minimum.  I know I have spent way more than that some years.

I had no clue that they could have got full movies.  That is kinda a game changer.  If Sony has been waiting to release movies and all the big releases launched on the internet 2-3 months before releasing in the theater...that could significantly hurt Sony's profits and movies in general.

I was just making fun of his wording. but really I think you are just holding a grudge due to my dislike of Arrow S3 so far. It's probably gonna get worse next week when they nerf Barry to allow Ollie to not become totally irrelevant by his own spin-off.

They don't have to nerf Barry.  They have shown that Barry is over confident because of his Speed and makes foolish mistakes.  He has also been shot already by a projectile weapon.  As long as Arrow doesn't actually win by strength but by smarts then it will be fine.

Three Man Mafia is good if you don't have too many roles with abilities.
The Mafia could have been more powerful if they knew each other.

Day One gave a lot of clues, but I think I would make a rule no quoting threads with votes, unless you un-bold the vote...otherwise you die.  (You have until the end of the day to correct your mistake.)  That made it very hard to keep count.

You and I think alike.  I always root for the Raptors which is why, Lost World is bitter sweet to me...and Jurassic Park 3 is a train wreck.

I think this game could have worked...with one more Mafia member...and the mafia knowing each others roles sooner.  It also didn't help that Zero Day gave townies some good clues on who is who.  (Zero Day is Day 1 with no kills.)

Actually, I would like to know what happened that day, host?

None of the information will make into the wild, unless somebody like wikileaks posts it...or a site like 4chan...or people are not afraid to reveal information...or think they are safe to what they want.

That is what makes this demand really crazy.  Sony can't possibly give in, because the data the person has collected never goes away.  You give in once and you have to continue.  The hacker has leverage, but can't capitalize on it.  Sony can't ever trust that the payoff will be respected.

I don't think Khush can protect from all vote offs.  I think the vote changer role maybe has been helping him.  As for Mafia hits...I guess the Doctor can do that...but then the Mafia doesn't attack Khush.  Easy.

Though, I admit that maybe the mafia needed one more member.

But this does help you remember why you have a vendetta against Khush.

I am curious about RedBlue...the last mafia member is hiding well.

As a Jurassic Park Mega-Fan I am excited for this movie. Trailers can make any movie look good, but at least I can say I think this movie is steering away from the problems of part 2 and 3, and could very well step up the game even beyond the original.

The original film was always about Man playing God. Creating life without any consequence, believing that life and creation in our hands is safe. This movie is coming back to this theme, but in an even stronger way. Before, we were just creating life that is now extinct. Now, man is actively creating NEW life, that God never intended to exist...or if you prefer evolution never supported. This new life is a testament to man's ego...not asking if we should do it...but if we can. Also it is a testament to man's ego that it can control nature, by not making a manageable creature but making a "bigger, badder dinosaur" probably for marketability.
So this movie has the theme correct.

The secondary theme to Jurassic Park was "dinosaurs are animals, treat them as such and not just monsters." I believe the 2nd and 3rd movie failed this. But going back to the Park element, this movie seems to be going back to that idea of wonder and awe about these wonderful animals. Not only that, another great idea is emerging. Man has always ruled over the animals...and just as always this movie shows man exploiting animals in the same ways we exploit animals today. Velociraptor racing, Gyro-cart dinosaur safaris, Dinosaur Sea World. We are locking animals that by their size alone should never be caged and exploiting them for entertainment. This is great stuff...and if handled well could be great. The key is not to be heavy handed. Do no preach it it wrong...just show that it is what Man will do.
To me the themes are right...hopefully they will get the tone right.

What do I expect from that tone? Well I expect the body count will be much greater than any previous Jurassic Park, but almost all deaths will be implied or not shown. The movie will still be PG-13, but truly expect them to capitalize on the Park being open.

Next, I expect for more scenes ripped from the first 2 books. Many people thought the Motorcycle scene looked like the Raptors were with "Star Lord" but to me this is straight from Lost World the book. Remember the scene of the fat kid is trapped in the cage and the Raptors trying to knock the caged ball around and get the kid? Well imagine that scene with the Gyro-balls. It is perfect...you can have a terrifying Raptor scene with little blood and maximum thrills. I also expect this scene to be the sole Raptor scene...as they continue to be regulated to secondary roles...but as opposed to the Lost World Raptor scene, this could be really great, as I love the idea of Raptors and other animals being forgot as a threat while a bigger dinosaur lurks about...but always in the shadows are the Raptors waiting to strike, almost scheming. Beautiful. This scene might happen earlier than the film and might be the first action/rescue scene.

I also expect a great focus on water dinosaurs, Jurassic Park 3 was about Air. Lost World was about T-Rex. Jurassic Park was about the Raptors. This movie is about the Hybrid, but an emphasis on the Mosasaur will do nicely. Remember the raft scene from Jurassic Park, with the T-Rex chasing the dinosaurs? I expect a similar scene with multiple rafts, except the Mosasaur is in the water attacking as well. This scene will play out just like the scene from Jurassic Park 3...it will be a center action piece, but will only be one scene then the dinosaur will be left alone. I see this scene possibly happening later in the film.

Finally, I do expect to see a similar ending to Jurassic Park where a dinosaur fights the mutant dinosaur to prove it is the big bad...or perhaps in this movie to prove than man is not as good as God, that the natural dinosaurs win. This will happen in the end and will allow the heroes to escape.

I have high hopes for this. I expect the best...and I hope this works and can bring back dinosaur magic.
