Nintendo Gaming / RE: Official DS Sales Thread

Last I knew they include wal*mart, but because wal*mart won't give them numbers they just estimate. I've seen lots of people want to assume wild or random estimates, but when I subtract Japanese and European numbers from World sales totals, NPD's numbers are spot on.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Wii S-Video Cables aka "NINTENDO PHAIL REPORT"

Right, some schmucks can't wait till next week for Nintendo to ship their cables so they're going to pay though the nose on eBay. The difference in picture quality is not worth $300, these people are just being hypersensitive as I'd say the lot of you are. You're not even getting a HD image with these cable for crying out loud. You wouldn't pay $100 for 3 feet of MONSTER video/audio cable when the same exact thing is availible cheaper, now would you? So why pay $300 on eBay, for the exact same thing you can have Nintendo ship you next week or purchase in a store 2 weeks later?

I mean, the rest of the world has to wait the same amount of time  just to get the system itself. Geez, I wonder why then they are getting their cables at launch then? Besides, 3rd parties who "know what gamers want" didn't even have their cords out on time. Pelican and MadCatz could me making boat loads of sales, but arn't ready with their cables either. Geez, I guess that makes then as stupid as Nintendo then....

Just enjoy the fact we get the system 2 weeks early because of Black Friday.  Otherwise, you'd probably be wating with the rest of the world. I guess releasing it early is a big "FU" to you.

Eh... I can see a big flame coming from either professional or SB there.... I mean it's not like there isn't a difference between the cables, its rather quite easy to notice. But it's not like you can't operate on composite until they're mass produced and distributed.

And it's not even like you're missing out on a high-def picture, like you would if you bought the $600 PS3. No HDMI or Component cables come with it, THAT is what is retarded and "focking- ri-cock-ulous".

But it's not like either of us are going to win here, they're going to have their little hate-on come hell or high water.

Do they mention SP hardware sales too? It would be mockably funny if the PSP was still getting its ass handed to it 2:1 by 5 year old tech.

edit: Ha. Yes, even funnier if the SP outsold the PS3 even....

Nintendo Gaming / RE: So who here is an expert Wii typist already?
« on: November 22, 2006, 05:42:30 AM »
I figured Nintendo might actually use something else for the on-screen keyboard, like dvorak, or a custom new layout designed specifically for pointer typing. I mean, qwerty was designed so the mechanical type heads on old ass typewriters didn't get jammed. We've long since out lived the need for that. A special layout combined with predictive text typing could yeild good results i'd think....

But since all the previews showed a qwerty keyboard, not to mention that Nintendo said zip about a having any kind of special key layout on the keyboard, and it is the keyboard layout that like 100% of the world uses, i'm not surprised.

Oh geez... Do we really need "Monster" cables? I mean, I guess it's ok if you arbitrarily paying more for the same exact thing.

I mean, if you like bottled water, i've got "PREMIUM" spring water to sell you. $3 for 20oz. It's crystal clear, pure, premium, spring water! Even the lable has gold color in it!

The Wii and games I got at Circuit City. The t-shirt I got at GameStop. The first GS, where my friends pre-ordered Wii was, I asked about the t-shirt and they said "The day after Thanksgiving, and you've got to buy 2 DS games." But the other GameStop, where this same said friends copy of Zelda was pre-ordered, were already wearing them! And I said, "I HAVE TO HAVE ONE OF THOSE!", to which they said, buy 2 DS games now. I promptly did and recieved the t-shirt.

So, I guess, it's hit or miss. But, i'd stop by a GameStop (or two) and take in a picture or article print out and confront them.

Iwata isn't doing a good enough job? I don't think Yamauchi would ultimately leave Nintendo 'out to dry' or in incapable hands.

Well, yea, Nintendo made a bet that what "gamers" really want is fun. By not letting the 'hardcore' fan interests dominate they could make a system that allows games to be just that, fun to play. Not that ever increasing graphics arn't appealing, but focusing exclusivly on them muddies the rest of the game. It would really be sad overall if in the end, betting on "fun", was a loosing bet to techogadgetry.

So if you have to be all emo and have temper tantrums that Nintendo isn't doing high-def, HDD, 5.1, DVD/Blu-ray/HD-DVD, built in routers, etc... , well, you're just going to have to pick up one (or more) of the competing systems in addition (or exclusion) to Nintendo's system.

(Nintendo making you to just have fun regardless of graphics and sound, what a horrible notion...)

I'm not claiming there isn't a difference between them. I'm just saying you'll survive without them until they arrive. There is no need to have a temper tantrum that they aren't available on day one.

Professional is going quite a bit overboard if, as he says, this is just a sarcastic thread.

i've got both componet and RF cables for my flat pannel TV. You can easily tell a difference, but it not such a huge difference that it warrents ALL CAPS posting, insults, and swearing. That's just inane prattle. You'll survive until you get the cable you need.

Wow... holy fu(k. That is awesome. I need that shirt more then I need a Wii on launch day.

You know what's -focking- ri-cock-ulous? This thread.

It's bat s hit insane that video games are fun/playable or not, at least to the people in this thread, based solely on s-video or componet cable connections now. Talk about your all time whiny cry babies...

Ok, well I can report back that the software for the USB adapter bound to the dial-up connection and worked flawlessly. (although, I only did try Tetris DS)

So you'll have slow downloads, but it looks like you'll be able to use a dial-up connection with the Wii and the USB adapter.

I dunno, but I can give it a try on my compy. My guess though, is that the install software won't bind to a dialup connection. I think one of the "minimum requirements" is a non-dialup connection.
