Nintendo Gaming / RE:GCN 2 possibly delayed...
« on: February 09, 2004, 12:26:23 PM »
This could be even stupider than the Nintendo DS. Add ons, were the reasons for Segas death. Nintendo has a terrible history with its own Add ons (SNES CD, 64 DD) Didnt Nintendo claim its console would release close to its competitors, to avoid the year advantage of the PS2? Then why this 180 turn? I dislike this so much. Sure, more time with a console is good for the wallet, but will bite Nintendo in the ass in the long run.

Im glad Madden will still be here. I still think releasing some Nintendo Sports games would be smart. Hire Ichiro for a MLB Game, and bring back Punch Out as well

I've seen the FFCC commercial.  Most of the commercial is a bunch of actors doing stuff vaguely associated with the game, followed by three seconds of footage and no mention of what the game is about or why anyone should buy it.  Yep, it's the same sh!tty commercial Nintendo has been doing since the Cube launched.  How hard is it to make a commercial for a f*cking Final Fantasy game?  Show a bunch of cut scene footage to show off the graphics and music and say "Final Fantasy returns to Nintendo consoles this February!"  It's SO f*cking easy to do a commercial like that and it's cheaper (no actors or filming required) and it will actually get people more excited than the "Mr. Plow" commercials they're doing now.

Nintendo has to realize that this isn't 1988 anymore and you don't have to have funny skits and actors to hide the fact that the game looks like crap.  Cube games look amazing.  Just show the damn footage and people will buy it.  The Crystal Chronicles trailer got me more excited about the game than ever.  Why don't they just show the trailer as the commercial?

I pretty much agree with you 110 percent..... Nintendos advertisment and media section is one of the reasons for its weak sales since launch.

This wouldnt be an "Acclaim" or a Eidos... This would be a legitimate blow against the chances of Nintendos longterm succes.  Remember the Dreamcast didnt have EA support.

I just wanted to post that im kind of disapointed with the FF CC comercials, its an important game for Nintendo, and it just doesnt deliver the message well enough.

Nintendo better keep EA in the ship, but i still think they could spend some money and make their own NFL game as well. The SNES had a Nintendo Football game, and that franchise went the way of Ken Griffey MLB Baseball, and Kobe Bryant NBA....

Without Madden, theres no more NFL games on the Cube, that would be terrible. Definetly not something Nintendo needs this year.

NDS agreements on gameplay? WTF did Capcom do to RE?

It probably means a new Control Scheme...

TalkBack / RE:Killer7 No Longer GameCube Exclusive
« on: January 30, 2004, 04:12:23 AM »
Ive read Mikami wants to fix the Devil may Cry franchise, i sincerely doubt he leaves for Nintendo.

This Killer 7 news is troubling, because it was the most hyped game of the new series that Capcom created. It was a cool mature game, that could have pused Gamecubes. Now PS2 owners have one less reason to buy a Gamecube. Nintendos Third Party Support is extremely weak and needs a serious shot in the arm, if it wants to change things by N5

It Is bad. Sure, we have RE4, (How long till Capcom finds a way to get out of that deal too or Viewtifull Joe) and it might be a Timed Exclusive, and it might look worse on the PS2. But it still means one less Hotly Anticipated Exclusive on the GCN, one less reason for a PS2 owner to pony up the 99 bucks for a GCN. Capcom used to be our big Third Party Ally. Sure Acclaim and Eidos could leave, but when our closest allies leave weaken support then its not good Stuff like this is definetly NOT what Nintendo needed to start a pivotal year for them. 2004 Will be very important for the long term success of The Big N. Im definetly worried about how they started the year.

Thats hardly good news. Not good at all. Capcom has been arguably our strongest third party and now their most mature, and hyped new game is no longer exclusive?  I hope it changes soon. Nintendo needs to show Capcom some more money hats.

The fusing of the two screens makes me think this has a better shot now than before...

Im not so sure, that everygame will have to have 2 screens. While certainly possible it will make some of it redundant. How bout a button that merges the images on the two screens into one big one?

Supposidly some guy in New Zealand said that Xbox and EA will make a deal to get their games on Live.

Im disapointed cause i would have loved to see Nintendo buy out Free Radical but Zoonami is still there i guess. an online Timesplitters sounds nifty. Wish it would be on the GCN

I honestly don't see nintendo leaving their Game Machine Only mentality.

I actually disagree.  Nintendo reps have mentioned the DVD  playback capibilities of the PS2 as a reason for its great sales. Plus  remember they did  have the Panasonic Q system. I fully expect the next Nintendo system to have DVD playback.

When it comes to the NDS. Theres 2 things i wanted to mention, i hope they once again work with Motorola and give it wireless multiplayer.  Game link cables are a way of the past, and seccond if it had MP3 Capabilites it would make it alot more interesting. Id  be more interested in it really

This could work if done right.... It doesnt run GBA or GB software, so i dont see it as the GBNext. Its in fact a "Third pillar" I mean, imagine if it launched with a version of Grand Theft Auto DS where one screen you would see the action like the First Two Grand Theft Autos, and the Seccond Screen would have Action like the Third GTA. Or lets say a sports game like MVP Baseball, one screen would have the the normal baseball screen, the other would float around, a field cam, a bullpen cam ect. It also needs to be much more affordable than the PSP. It also needs some sort of Mario Game.  Its like a GBA 1.5

Certainly interesting. The Two Screens might seem gimicky but usefull. What im worried about is the GCNs problem, Third Parties.  Third Parties are now making GBA SP, Ngage, and PSP software. Do they have the time to make no Nintendo DS software? If the console doesnt have software it wont sell, which was the Virtual Boys problem.  Im also worried on the media,  its look and price. But we will find out by E3..

It probably wont make any sense to release the new System so early. You would anger alot of your own fanbase if you did. IT makes more sense 2005/06. That news just means MP2 will be for the GCN. Which makes sense to me. It needs a big title for this winter season.

No Bonus disk here? Disapointing, Nintendo could have done something similar to Zelda here. Give us the NES game, some VR Missions  for Twin Snakes,  and some movies of upcoming games.

Sure it wont kill the cube, but it was probably the biggest title too look forward to at the end of this year, and a title to go head to head vs Halo 2 and Killzone/MGS3  Nintendo needs to finish the Gamecubes lifespan strong so the sales of the next system will be strong. I really hope they dont burn and slash and hope the next system saves them just like Sega did slashing the Saturn and putting their eggs in the Dreamcast basket. It doesnt work, no matter how good the next system might be.

Problem is, Nintendo needs it now, not by the time N5 arrives.  It needs games to keep the momentum for the next system, not kill this system early and hope the new system changes things...
