For some reason I equated no midnight launches with no early line ups. To my surprise I saw tents and chairs at 2 different best buys today and people picking up their systems from toys R us and GameStop.

Saw about 5 white Wii U's that people kept passing on in favor of the delux black. About 85% into my system update and my complex is known for constant random power outages... I AM DYING HERE!!!!!

So with everyone trying to log on Miiverse, would that explain error messages?

One of the biggest gamestops in the country, if not the biggest, with a very late night friendly environment is not doing a midnight launch. If they aren't who is?

Walmart.  The new home for gamers. :D

I guess that's something to think about. I don't want buy one, I just want to hang out with fellow stinky nerds. Or maybe not, it's cold today.

@EasyCure - I called mine, it's there, but can't pick it up until tomorrow.

I guess it doesn't bother me either way. I just wanted to hang around and play Pokemon and Mario Kart.

It says "couldn't run on the Wii U". To me that implies it was  formally PC exclusive?  If it couldn't run on Wii U, then how would it run on the PS3 or 360?

Your right, I don't know what I was thinking.

IdeaMan, a very reputible insider from Neogaf, has said a branded game that was thought to not be able to run on the Wii U is being made for the system. He knows what it is but can't reveal it.

Looking for the actual quote.

Preordered mine within hours after they went up on Best Buy. I think I will go to a GameStop launch party though just for the festivities and Street Passes.

Went looking for 3rd party games and found everything I want to get but later. Saw Batman, Assassins Creed, Madden, Scribblenauts, Rabbids and Just Dance. No Tekken, Zombie U, or Call of Duty...

The Misses I travel about the country in an old school bus that I converted into an RV. It has purple and pink flames painted along the sides, with the words "Storm the Gaits" above. We usually have a livestock trailer in tow with my horse, Hoof-Hearted. I joust competitively, and the Misses sells handmade clothing and jewelry. We often times pick up hitchhikers when traveling from show to show, which usually leads to a brief ménage à trois. The bus doesn't have adequate plumbing, so we have to shower at camp grounds and truck stops. Hoof-Hearted's feces is saved up and routinely sold to local farmers as organic fertilizer.

Wait... you're lying. Right?

Another feature of the Wii U, discovered by IGN, is that the system automatically turns off after about an hour with no controller input (including while pausing a game). PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 have this, but they have to be turned on. This feature appears to be on by default with Wii U. Not a big deal to me since I don't just leave my system alone for over an hour though.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/09/wii-us-scary-automatic-shutoff-feature

This is actually a very good thing for me. My wife constantly watches Netflix and doesn't seem to understand when the Wii is turned off. I wake up in the morning and see that little green light hoping the thing didn't burn it's self out.

I've also had toddlers go after the Wii and thne grab it without me realizing they have turned it on. So this will actually be a useful feature for me. I can recall maybe once where I had to pause the game and leave it for more than an hour at a time. 20 minutes is too much for me, I just couldn't have the thing idle for so long. I suppose if you play games for a living and your lunch break is approaching you pause it in those odd areas that are hard to save at. Can't imagine that happening in most house holds, but I could be in the minority.

Mine is already guaranteed at a Best Buy where no launch party or anything is happening. So I will go to a launch party just to Mario Kart and Pokemon up the place.

I think everyone will have a better chance at getting one this time. Nintendo did say they will have more units for launch.

I should really listen to the podcasts.

I agree, lots and lots of potential, that hardly anyone really got right. If a game that played like Skyward Sword came out sooner along with Motion + there might have been more worthwhile motion games.

I will say that I absolutely loved pointing and dragging for gravity and Yoshi's tongue in the Galaxy games. I loved pointing for Goldeneye and Metroid and thought it was so much better than dual analog.

Though I loved NSMBW and especially DKCR, there should have been an option to use only buttons. I didn't mind shaking for the most part, it never killed me like some of you, but yeah it was really not necessary as the only option.

I will say though that aside from a few games it seems like every Gamecube game looked better than what was offered on the Wii. Even Brawl now looks a little more dated to me than Melee. After playing Melee recently I realized it was a little brighter and more cartoon like, where as Brawl got even more realistic. To me Melees character models stand up better today than the washed out colored models in Brawl.

Sega was just about the only developer who could make games that didn't look like dated PS2 games. I suppose because they really worked on the gamecube so Sonic always looked great on the Wii.

Nintendo Gaming / The Wii Era Is Over. Thoughts?
« on: November 14, 2012, 02:50:43 PM »

Some would argue the Wii was over and done a long time ago, but officially the U era begins this Sunday.
So what are your thoughts on this past generation? What did you hate, everything? What did you love, all of it? Sound off below!

Let's remember some fond memories. And don't mind any over excited people in these videos. I am sure he they have all matured as the years went by...

Remember the long lines? Will it ever happen again? Probably not this generation.

Also I want to add, does no one else think that Miiverse will truly affect the quality of Nintendo's games in the future?

Aside from a Club Nintendo review that only so many people use, the game asking us about our feelings during certain portions of the game is instant feedback to the developers and can only mean good things in the future.

Just imagine if we had Miiverse now and Nintendo read about everyone complaining about picking up items in skyward sword? Or how many people loathe shaking in DKCR? Of course message boards and club nintendo help, but if something comes about that is universally loved or hated it seems to me the developers would have to take notice immediately. Potentially making their next games better.

I have a feeling that over time if games kept asking you how you felt it would become an annoyance and people would give junk answers to get past the prompt and get back to the game.  I know if I was playing a Zelda game and a glorified survey popped up in the middle of it my instinctive feeling at the time would be "**** off and let me play".  Nobody would consider getting bugged during a game to be a good feature so they have to watch how they do it.

The good thing is you can turn it off when ever you want.

Though I have a feeling I will have it on 24/7. I figure if I am on these message boards constantly wanting to read what people think I will enjoy this feature a ton. Swap Note is cool even with all it's limitations, so I know I will eat this up.

Can we please go off about the music on miiverse? Seriously 4 games in a row should not have basically the same sound track.

Yoshi's Story 2 confirmed.

Yeah I honestly think that is where these little "jokes" are headed.
