TalkBack / Matsushita Expected to Post Heavy Losses
« on: April 09, 2003, 11:46:29 AM »
I bet the younger dudes would flock to the hip looking Q if it came to the US. Too bad most don't know what it is....stupid Panasonic...

lol, I find it funny how everyone is recording losses except the videogame companies....
Nintendo may not be doing well compared to last year, but it still scored a $500 million+ net profit, while these huge (well Nintendo is huge too...) companies like Matsushita are posting 100 million dollar losses.....

So, why is the videogame industry getting bigger in a time where everything else is getting smaller? Do people rely on their copies of GTA to comfort them while they lose their jobs? Blame the pedestrians!

The lands in the Wind Waker are just flooded Hyrule. It's not like it's a new land or anything. Hyrule is still there, at the bottom of the seas....So here goes:

Dragon Roost - Death Mountain
Forest Haven - Kokiri Forest
Earth Temple - Apparently what's left of the Spirit Temple....
Tower of the Gods - Right about Hyrule Castle
Windfall Island - Kakariko??

As for the races:
Goron - there are actually a few Goron's left in the Wind Waker. For example the merchant Greatfish Isle. And he looks just like a Goron from Ocarina
Zora - they are now the Rito...
Kokiri - gone. oops.
Gerudo - gone, except for Ganondorf who is immortal....
Hyrulians - they are still all over, of course
Hylians - there are a few left, such as Link and his family, the girls that got kidnapped, and Zelda and her dad...

Nintendo Gaming / Zelda WW = OoT 100 years later ?
« on: April 05, 2003, 07:31:40 PM »
About the male Gerudo being born every 100 years, I'm pretty sure Ganondorf was the last one. After the end of Ocarina of time the Gerudos went extinct sooner or later. The last traces of them might be the thiefs from A Link to the Past (like Blind), but then again maybe not....
Ganondorf is immortal as long as he has the Triforce of Power, that's why they have to seal him away, because he can't be killed.

Also, has it occured to anyone that the Wind Waker link might not be the 2nd link? A Link to the Past may very well have taken place between Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask (which have the same Link) and the Wind Waker. So it might be: Link beats down Ganon in Ocarina of time, then goes back in time and goes through the Majora's Mask thingy, then dies, then another Link rises and beats Ganon after he breaks the seal (Link to the Past), but after this time, Hyrule is flooded, and then some time later, the Wind Waker takes place. That way, the Imprisoning war may be talking about Ocarina of Time, and the Wind Waker intro may be talking about both Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past. Notice in the intro it said that a hero always rose to fight evil, but this time the hero did not appear. Well for a hero to always rise, it must have happened before. (link to the past).

Of course this is just my quick speculation...

Nintendo Gaming / Kokiri means lumberjack!
« on: April 05, 2003, 07:11:38 PM »
There's no Kokiri Forest near the lumberjack's in A Link to the Past...in fact there is no Kokiri Forest in any game except for Ocarina of Time....

You are only supposed to get to 500 for your reward - a piece of heart. If you want to you fight him more, but he will call of the match if you get to 1000...

Nintendo Gaming / Timesplitters 2...
« on: April 05, 2003, 06:59:43 PM »
Yes Timesplitters 2 is by far the best first person shooter on GCN. It's both single and multiplayer. While the single player is great, the game is really known for it's awesome multiplayer. It has the best multiplayer FPS action in any console game, ever. Basically the game is sort of a successor to Perfect Dark and Goldeneye's style...but it's still it's own franchise.

Well NOA backs Digipen you know....but unfortunately that's not free. Or anywhere near free...

So I'm assuming Miyamoto himself will be present during this endeavor? Or will his underlings do the teaching?

TalkBack / Nintendo Crushes In March
« on: April 04, 2003, 09:28:57 PM »
Zelda has not sold close to 1.1 million in the US. Nintendo has shipped 1.1 million copies to retailers (the initial shipment anyway, they should be shipping more soon for the next wave), but only about 700,000 of those have actually been sold (according to Matt Cassamassina and his connections at IGN).

Notice how Nintendo is also careful when they say that 2.2 million units of Ruby/Sapphire have "been moved" through the US.

Well we'll see when the next official sales report comes for NPD or TSRTS or TRSTS or whatever they are called...

TalkBack / GameCube Sales Double in February
« on: April 04, 2003, 09:25:50 PM »
That's because they are mostly found in malls. Most big malls have both an EB and a Gamestop store.

But of course if you live in a high class suburb of a big city (such as Marietta where I live, near Atlanta, or say one of those rich type suburbs surrounding LA or Chicago and such...), you should be able to find them in one of those long shopping area things with the big stores like CompUSA, Wal-Mart, or Borders with lots of little stores in between...

« on: April 04, 2003, 09:14:53 PM »
djunknown - RE online is the only non GCN RE game in the works? No.....there is another.... (cue dramatic music)

Of course this other one I'm talking about may not even make it to the US and is a crappy game anyway...(RE Dead Aim for PS2, the light gun rail shooter that doesn't use a light gun )

30 million euros on advertising?...like...whoa. If they spent that much on GCN, which is struggling, instead of GBA, which is sure to sell like mad...well you know.

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube Controller Question
« on: March 24, 2003, 11:31:14 AM »
Continuing on about controllers...
Maybe it's just me or...
Do standard GCN controller analog sticks wear out and get loose while Wavebird's don't. My controller that came with my GCN has a loosed left analog. I've used my wavebird like 10x more than the original (smash attacks and all) and it's 100% perfecto...
Um?...I thought first party meant first class, not all loose-like...and no I don't screw my controllers up I am a perfectionist and take the utmost care of my video game accessories (seriously, I like line them up all neat and stuff when I'm done playing).

And notice how at walmart and such, the dumb punks screw up the GCN analogs till they are so loose they can't recognize the slightest input, but the xbox controller's analogs are always (semi) fine. Maybe it's just something to do with launch controllers? Are the corded ones fixed now?...

Nintendo Gaming / Soul Calibur 2.....
« on: March 23, 2003, 06:46:40 PM »
lilmac - you want alternate costume and his own stage?
Um where you been man, he has both of those. His alternate costume is the goron tunic which IGN recently unveiled..and right now on IGN's front page they have a hands on article with some movies. One is a link vs. link battle. At the beginning where it has the stage name it says "Legend of Zelda" and it has the Overworld theme song playing in the background...although it's hard to hear with the japanese people talking and such. But you can clearly tell it's the zelda theme.

um actually the best selling system in history is the game boy. Even the PS2 has sold more than the gba..

And um this is on gamespot and stuff too, but...
This is like extremely old next. This game was announced like over a year ago and never talked about again.

Nintendo Gaming / shadow link
« on: March 20, 2003, 11:41:32 AM »
Yeah on master quest you're skulltula-cripple until you get the boomerang...
Don't worry though you get the hookshot as soon as you're an adult pretty much...

Nintendo Gaming / shadow link
« on: March 19, 2003, 02:01:28 PM »
You have to collect a certain numer of gold skulltulas. I'm not sure I think it is 20 to upgrad to adult's wallet (200 rupees maximum) and 40 or 50 for giant's wallet (500).

So get some gold skulltulas! You should have enough by the time you get through the water temple at least, if not forest temple.

Oh and if you don't have the longshot yet from the water temple, you'll notice you can't get to gerudo valley as an adult. Well you can, just jump the bridge with epona. Just a heads up since you need to get to the valley during the trade process...

Nintendo Gaming / Cool Bonus Disc hapenstance!
« on: March 19, 2003, 01:57:36 PM »
When you pause it or press start to go to the main menu or something it checks to make sure the disc is there. Duh..
And I guess it may use the disc for something..I'm not sure what though. Possibly just rechecking data...Like streaming it into the background. Maybe it streams things back and forth through RAM to free up RAM for running the actual game.

Nintendo Gaming / Worldwide Million Sellers
« on: March 19, 2003, 01:33:33 PM »
As of january means not including january, february, and march. IGN Cube said Metroid Prime sold 770,000 in 2002. I'm sure it has sold at least 200,000 this year. It's almost april for crying out loud...
Oh and Zelda is already a million, you forgot the US numbers. 600,000 in US, 600,000 in japan.

General Chat / Grown-up GC users?
« on: March 19, 2003, 01:24:41 PM »
Contrary to popular belief, as Microsoft's Ken Lobb said, the GCN average user age is far higher than people think.

Just think about it. People who grew up with Nintendo are just that...grown up know. Either that or they are 14-18 if they are from the SNES era (like me).

Anyway, i'm sure far more 18+ year olds own gamecubes than under 12 year olds. Teens are obviously the winners though...

And um...most people on this board should be fairly old. 8 year olds don't just pop up in forums..

Nintendo Gaming / Online Game Boy Advance games via your Gamecube
« on: March 19, 2003, 01:14:29 PM »
Who said anything about a broadband adapter? Thats for online...

And thanks for providing the link to prove yourself wrong. Look at the picture. It shows two gamecubes connected. Then read this quote:
"You cannot use the GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable to play multiplayer GBA titles -- that needs to happen through the standard link port and cables, be it GBAs or other Game Boy Players with TVs."

See? And this isn't the only place I've heard about this. It was on IGN i think and this site too I think. You can definately connect multiples gamecubes each with their own game boy players...
