uh.. I assume you're making fun of people... o_O
Anyway I'll probably pick up an Xbox sooner or later... I've been waiting for a price drop in forever...
Anyway, I will probably use N72 on XBL when I get it cause that's what I use on Steam and other stuff... cuase it's nice and short you know... My first name starts with N and my favorite number is 72. So um, yeah.

The thing is.. Japan doesn't usually censor anything.. Oh well, doesn't matter to us anyway

EDIT: Oh and actually maybe I know why. It could NCL popping in and requesting some censorship... They definately are stricter than NOA, who doesn't care about anything (Sony made the PS2 BMX XXX censored while NOA didn't) and NOE doesn't seem to either (they have DS ads with naked chicks)...

I can understand the easy difficulty.. Americans are used to FPS's so RE4 feels a lot more "normal" to us.. Like how back in the day japanese RPG's would be watered down for us (the ones that made it)...

But I don't understand the censored headhots...are they saying there is still the exploding head animation.. just the head stays on? huh? o_O This doesn't make any sense, especially in Japan of all places.. Perhaps it was Nintendo's intervention, since they don't really have much a ratings system there andd any 4 year old could go buy this game.. but any 4 year old could also buy anime porn, many complete with nasty gratuitous violence thrown in for good measure... Doesn't make any sense to me... Well ok Americans are more used to the realistic type of blood and gore in RE4 but still Japan isn't a place where you'd think games would get censored.. But actually this was Capcom censoring it so who knows...

OK it doesn't matter since it's just a fanboy rumor... Konami is not buying Silicon Knights.

I can't download it...
About the organ line, why is it hard? Is it really fast runs? I don't play piano/organ but I am a percussionist and I can play extremely fast crazy runs on xylophone/marimba/vibes... Or are you just saying it's hard to play in game, but playable on an actual organ? Perhaps I could play it on a percussive organ.. those don't really sound like regular organs though.

Anyway, like I said, it's obviously fake, since if you go to the official Wi-Fi Alliance website you'll find that Nintendo is neither part of the Alliance nor does it have any Wi-Fi certified products (that's why there are no Wi-Fi certified logos on the DS or it's box/manual).

« on: January 29, 2005, 09:53:53 AM »
It's the textures, texture effects, lighting, shadowing, etc. that really make things realistic, not the amount of polys (if you know what you're doing..)
The T-Rex in jurassic park had 70,000 polys. There are ships in Rogue Leader/Rebel Strike approaching that number...

Oh, and there have only been 3 3D Zelda's in the past 2 generations (1996 to now). That's hardly reusing the same things over and over again.. Especially where there have been 3 Jaks, 3 Ratchets, 3 3D GTA's, 3 Need for Speeds, etc. in this generation alone. Reusing franchises over and over is when you have a new game in the series every year (the EA approach).  I don't see how Nintendo can be blamed when there have been 2 3D mario platformers in the past 8 years, and we had to wait 8 years between Super Metroid and Prime/Fusion. It's because people lump all the Marios and Zeldas and such together. I prefer to think of the Mario platformers, the Mario RPG's, and the Mario sports as 3 seperate series, same with 2D and 3D zeldas... Unlike Final Fantasy, which made a permanent jump from 2D to 3D and is thus one series, Zelda exists in two distinct forms that may share similar storylines, concepts, etc, but they still play differently. Same with Castlevania and Resident Evil. Who considers Castlevania 64, Lament of Innocence, and the upcoming Curse of Darkness as part of the 2D Castlevania line? Or all the RE spinoffs as part of the true series?

Well many people just buy things early cause it's new tech. I have these cousin's that are twins... one of them bought a DS just cause it was new, and didn't buy any games for it. The other wanted to wait since there aren't good games out. (that's what i'm doing)

Either way, Prime 2 still has the best art design all year. I'm playing through Half-Life 2 now and the games got pretty good artwork... But there's just something about it... I doesn't really say "Half-Life" to me...

Man. After looking at the horrible textures in NFS Underground and Asphalt, and looking at this game (look at the track textures!) it makes you want to cry... Aside from Hunters this is the best looking DS game... except unlike Hunters we KNOW it will rock. And we've actually seen the 8 player in motion... How bout the promised 16 player hunters deathmatch? (many developers have already said it's fairly easy to get 32 players).

Yeah it's a "generic FPS" compared to say, PC and console games. Compare it to handheld games and it's blows every attempt at the genre away... The only handheld FPS even playable is on n-gage, and Hunters blows it away.

oh whoops yeah lol... I'm not thinking straight... I said my DX9 card can't do DX9 effects lol...that was a typo i meant DX8...
I heard GCN can do normal maps pretty well if you use the system right, for those kind of specs. That said... normal maps are hard to do on any consoles. Halo 2's look ugly as heck and look seriously unnatural... Not only that but tons of models in the game looked like an assembly of parts rather than a cohesive unit, worsening the look.
Anyway, I'm seriously getting annoyed at the blatant use of bump mapping and normal mapping in some games.. Far Cry and Half-Life seem to keep it respectable with the human models anyway... DOOM 3 is getting carried away, then things like Halo 2 and Riddick just look ridiculously synthetic...

Nintendo Gaming / RE: HAHAHAHA DS ONLINE MOFOS

Funny how...
Nintendo DS is NOT Wi-Fi certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance.
(Nintendo simply modified slight things and didn't submit the product...presumably for piracy reasons they don't want it fully interoperable until they are ready.. who knows what they are doing... this doesn't mean it doesn't have Wi-Fi though cause it does).

Besides that just looks like a wireless access point for a router with a Nintendo logo.. This doesn't make sense at all... Where does a PC come into play? The DS can get signals straight from a router. This is like saying signal goes from router, to this device, into PC, back out through device to DS? o_O
Or perhaps it's just a device to wirelessly upload junk to a computer... OR more likely...
You plug it into a computer with internet connection (wether direct connection or over a wireless LAN) and this card thing broadcasts it out to the DS (and ONLY this card, not just a router... this explains why Nintendo didn't get the DS Wi-Fi certified... BUT THIS device would have to be wi-fi certified because it has to work with any PC configuration..)
Weird...  That would elimated hotspots. It's not like you can go into starbucks and say hey, I gotta plug this into your server!

I was expecting something like a GBA cart (or something plugging into GBA slot) that "unlocks" online play and has online play software and junk.. Then all you need is an unencrypted router...

Look at what Konomi's done in a few months.

Now imagine what Intelligent Systems (aka 2D gods) will be able to do with .... Metroid.... I just hope they actually pay attention to Advance Wars (DS Wars...) graphics... I'm not saying make it 3D cause well... DS can't do high poly.. But better than first-gen GBA would be nice. Hybrid 2d 3d would rock... Total Annihilation on PC proved the power of hybrid 2D/3D graphics in top down Strategy games...

Well, what if on the GCN's tech specs on nintendo.com it said "featuring 60 fps graphics!"
Anyway, at least that explains why the DS port of Asphalt (from N-gage) ran at a perfect 60 fps while the N-gage version barely moved.. Of course the power had something to do with it.. But I'm glad Nintendo "garaunteed" us good frame rate. Since now we have the potential of online lag... I can't even imagine Perfect Dark multiplayer framerates.. shudder.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Mario Kart DS!!
« on: January 27, 2005, 05:30:03 PM »
Of course the frame rate is awesome... in case you didn't know... the DS hardware has this little "quirk" that forces games to be 60 fps, unless the hardware is rendering full 3D in both screens at once, in which case it's 30 fps.

But anyway, I just thought of an great use for the touchscreen...
You know how on the bottom screen it has a list of all 8 racers? Well you know how some items like red shells home in on people? Well how bout you pick who you shoot?
Other than that, I'm guessing tapping the map will change map modes.. I've seen both an overall track view, and the zoomed in birds eye view of the action....
8 player wireless, just as I though. Now all that this needs is wireless confirmation. Mario Kart on GBA was sweet. This looks to take the best of all previous games...this will be the ultimate mario kart...

EDIT: Oh and I really hope more Nintendo characters are available.. just for fun
I wonder if exclusive items will be back. Either way, Diddy Kong must be in this game. I'd love some new surprises too, not just the "famous" Mario/DK people.
Paper Mario 2 and SuperStar Saga had new characters...how bout some of them?

Wow. You guys totally missed the point.
Remember when on the tech specs list of the DS Nintendo listed "60 fps graphics" as a "feature" and we were all like "lol what a newb comment."

Note how this guy says... "the hardware forces games to be 60 fps"

TalkBack / RE: Konami Announces 2005 Lineup

Actually, Castlevania has this cool new touch screen feature just shown today.

At some parts you will see these light bricks (looks like ice) in big blocks blocking your bath. You can "carve" them by slicing them with your finger or stylus (simulating whipping them). The cool part is you have to actually use this by cutting open paths for you to jump through but you also have to make your own platforms. This one area had a cool part that was a vertical jumping area and you had to carve this big block into a bunch of platforms to let you go up to the high level.

TalkBack / RE: NFSU2 Announced for Nintendo DS
« on: January 27, 2005, 05:00:09 PM »
You know what would rule... if this game (or Underground 3) had my car... 2005 Honda Accord Coupe EX V6... Gran Turismo 4 and Forza both have it...
At first I figured this car is way to upscale to be put in NFS Underground... but then in the second they stuck in a G35 Coupe and Lexus IS (ok, so these are based on Skyline and Toyota Altezza...) but as the new Accord Coupes are a hybrid replacement of Prelude and CL this should be in the game... plus I wanna drive my car lol. Makes sense since Civic and RSX are in there... And the US Accord Coupe V6 is Honda's second fastest retail car (as fast as S2000 but less than NSX).

So yeah... The textures in the game look bad.. models need to be cleaned up. Other than that not much to say from screens... need video... hopefully full 60 fps..

So yeah.. where's my Burnout.
