Nintendo Gaming / RE: Revolutionary Controller
« on: July 01, 2005, 08:08:19 PM »
Dude, the idea of a "Lego Controller" would be great (although it would never work).  Piece together whatever buttons, sticks and whatnot to make the controller the way *you* want it.  And different games could come with different pieces (Like a Vaus Paddle piece for a Breakout-type game, etc)...

Like I said, it'd never work... but it'd be neat.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: GBA comm port USB cable - network play?
« on: July 01, 2005, 06:29:12 AM »
Yeah, USB -> GBA cables exist.  They typically come with those Flash Cards that let you download ROMs and such a blank GBA cart.

It seems to me that if this was possible *someone* would have done it already... perhaps I'm horribly mistaken - god, I'd *love* to be able to play some Four Swords against any one of you (I've never been beat, but then I've never had any good competition! )

EDIT:  http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/customer/product.php?productid=1956 -> USB/GBA link

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Revolution to launch in March?

*That* could work...

[random thoughts]What if Nintendo allowed you to catalouge all of your old GC games into the Rev, and the more games that you own the more free content they would provide you with(game downloads, NP subscription, T-shirts, etc. etc.), that would be an incentive to upgrade to the Rev, and also to continue buying GC games.[/random thoughts]

The only thing I could see with this is, personally, after logging in all my GCN games, I'd run to the local rental stores to log in all the ones I don't own so that I could get the freebies...

Here's what I'm saying though...

If I already have a GCN, new GCN games do *not* give me a reason to "early adopt" a Revolution.  In fact, they give me more of a reason to *wait* to buy a Revolution.

Why would I want to wait to buy a Revolution?  Well, if I have a GCN, I could spend my $200+ on four (or more) brand new games.  And I could wait to get my Revolution until the price drops or Nintendo offers a good deal (Free games - see Nintendo DS/Super Mario 64 DS deal)

And what's wrong with waiting to purchase the Nintendo Revolution?  The longer I wait to buy it, the longer Microsoft or Sony have to intice me to buy their system.

Granted, I'll be getting a Revolution at Launch.  In fact, I'll likely be the first in line... I'm just saying that new GCN games are not the way to go to get someone to buy a Revolution...

I'm not saying that $200 is too much... I'm saying why buy a $200 system to play games that you can easily play on a $100 system that you may already own?

Well couldn't 3rd parties make new GC games and put them out around the Rev's release? That would put off a drought.

Why buy a new Revolution at $200+ when you could just buy a GCN for $100-ish (or less) to play these games on and wait for a price drop on the Revolution... and by the time that Price Drop comes around, they've already decided to buy a PS3 or a 360...

General Gaming / Two GCN controllers into one controller port?
« on: June 26, 2005, 06:21:38 PM »
Would it be (in theory) possible to take those GCN controller extention cords (something like this: http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/224538.asp) and splice two of them together so that you could hook two controllers (or Bongos, Dance Pads, GBA/GCN Cables) into the same controller port?

Hey, I want to add something here.

People made the comment about the T-Shirts - that wearing them isn't going to get Nintendo's attention because Nintendo would likely not see anyone wearing them.  While that is true, someone wearing the T-Shirt on the street might be like "Oh, what's this?" and go to the website and write a letter or two themselves...

Going to this link: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/go.php?http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=FKSJxY2VJAk&offerid=54879.191570&type=2

Redirects you to the EBGames.com webpage.  The only difference from using that link and going there directly is that CAG gets credit from EBGames for going though that link.  Since I found this deal over at CAG, I figured it would only be the nice thing to do to let them have the credit...

It's a real link, I promise.  Since I stole this from CAG and I don't believe that PGC has an affiliate program with EBGames, I figured I'd throw CAG a bone and let them have the reccomendation points from this...

Nintendo Gaming / Great deal on GB/GBC game cases!

EDIT #7:  They're back at $.15!  Hurry, they go oos quickly...

EDIT #6:  They've sold out again... keep watchin' 'em... They'll probably be back..

EDIT #5:  They're back at $.15!  Hurry, they go oos quickly...

EDIT #4:  They've sold out again... keep watchin' 'em... They'll probably be back..

EDIT #3:  They're back at $.15!  Hurry, they go oos quickly...

EDIT #2:  Okay, first off, the packs are back at $1.02 (after "BIGSALE") and (currently) in stock.  Both the price and the instock status tend to change - a lot - so it's worth keeping an eye on these.

Second, they're not at all like what I described (or like the picture shows).  The cases are about the same quality/plastic that the original GB cases were made out of and they have the same *basic* design with one major exception - the cases are about a quarter of an inch bigger and designed so that they can hold two GBA games.  This means that there is a little wiggle room in the case for GB/GBC games, but they still fit well and I still reccomend them - especially at this price.

EDIT:  Hey, the cases are back at $.15!  If you're interested, hurry, they tend to go fast!  (Don't forget to use the code 'BIGSALE' when checking out to get the discount!)

Hey, I just wanted to pass along a great deal that I found over on CAG!

EBGames.com has an 8-Pack of GameBoy/GameBoy Color game cases for $3.41.  If these are the same ones I bought a few years ago at Wal-Mart (and I'm almost 100% certain they are), they're great quality and (aside from the colors and lack of a Nintendo logo on the back) they're exactly like the cases that we used to get with all GameBoy Games once upon a time.

Here's the kicker though.  When checking out, use the Coupon Code "BIGSALE" and you'll get 70% off!  8 Great cases for $1.02.

Now this isn't as good as the price that was on them over the weekend ($.49, or $.15 after "BIGSALE"), but this is still a great deal - and if you're like me, you've got tons of GB/GBC games that could use some cases.

Sorry if this sounds too much like SPAM - I promise I don't work for EBGames or anything...

I remember hearing something about that...  for some reason I was thinking that was supposed to be done with Perfect Dark ø on the GameCube with some unreleased Eye-Toy like device....

So I guess there are no games that allow for the transfer of pictures into them then?  You mean EBGames has lied to me?!?  Oh noes!

From: http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/224561.asp

>Now you can have the ability to import Game Boy games and files into your N64! The N64 Transfer Pak plugs right into the Memory Pak slot on your controller. You can transfer characters, import game data, emulate Game Boy games, and even import pictures via the Game Boy camera into certain N64 games.

Well, I knew it fit into the Memory Pak slot on the controller.

I knew it could transfer characters (Mario Golf), import game data (Pokémon) and emulate GameBoy Games (again, Pokémon)...

But which N64 games let you import GBCamera pics?!?
