JonLeung > The French woman says "Oui, je cumpri(sp?)", translated "Yes, I understand". Yeah the American chick is definately hipnotizing.

I too can't see this lag you folks are talking about, perhaps this lag you experience is from the streaming itself?

The american guy  that plays Wii-Golf has the best overall-reaction of the bunch, I think.
The american woman that was playing Wii-Tennis was funny when she was surprised right in the beginning when she moved the racket and hit the ball.

I want to be randomly picked to try "this new-fangled technology".

Svevan > But you hold your statement to be true; is it true for you only? If so, does that mean absolute truth exists except where it affects you? Which means that when I believe in absolute truth for everyone, including you, I'm correct even though that contradicts your belief that there isn't any such thing?

Yes.
If it exists for others, then so be it.
You are correct accordingly to your own observable world.

Svevan > My opinions are the product of many other's opinions. Instead of dismissing them as "someone else's" I reason them through, consider them, and decide if they match up with the observable world. I am not so vain as to think I can get through the world on my own. Many people have brought me to the place I am at - that is why we read, listen, and converse.

Indeed, however that does not mean that you won't form your own observable world taken from those same opinions and matchups.

Svevan > This is a major philosophical disagreement. I believe humans are fallible and depraved to the point of corruption. You speak of "mastering" our perfection, but that shows that we haven't actually attained the perfection you claim. How can you master something as absolute as perfection?

Then how would you see a human as perfect?

Svevan > Does one man merely say "I thought this movie was good," the other says "I thought it was bad," and they both rest knowing that both of these statements can be true?

Yes.

I downloaded the choir song (the one we hear on the trailers we've seen when the character is about to have the sword fight) from IGN, it's just plain and simple bliss.

So how long would a straight-forward finish of this game be? 40 hours?

If there is no absolute truth, then your statement is not true because it is an absolute. If we agree that the statement "There is no absolute truth" is not absolute, then there is the possibility that there IS absolute truth and your statement is proven false. Therefore no one can ever make the statement "there is no absolute truth" because it is a fallacy.

If you believe only your opinion of film or art or life matters, than you might as well live in a shell. I believe everyone's opinions deserve to be heard, but not all are equal - some people speak truth and others speak lies, some believe one thing while others believe the opposite. One person is right. We are not truly objective, nor are we perfect, but I believe it is possible through education and faith to achieve a stronger opinion, one that can be more fiercely defended and may eventually be rock-solid.

My statement is not an absolute, it is my statement, my view, it is from one and only one individual, so it is not absolute.

I too believe others opinions are important, but does it really matter, you are still going to watch it no matter what others say, and you will have your own opinion on it.
We are perfect, but how well can we master perfection is where we are at.
I liked your last "I believe it is possible through...", however even so sometimes that is not enough.

I know what you mean, but once the feeling of purchase-assurance comes forth from this extra sacrifice, won't you feel rewarded?

I like Tim Burton's touch on the 1st and 2nd Batman, and Edward Scissor-Hands.
I didn't like Kill Bill that much, the first volume was ok, but the last movie was...I don't know how to explain it, it just didn't impress me.
There are alot of movies you guys/gals mention that I have no idea they exist, that's in part because I don't go to the movies these days.
I find it funny that alot of movies that I like are movies either from early 90's and older, just as an example I mention Arachnophobia to my younger working colleagues and they are like "Ara-kne-fobi-a? What is that?".
I love Star Trek, the movies aren't that great, specially the ones with the next generation crew, and even the ones with the old crew. People are better off just to watch the TV series.
Mad Max? Ronin? First Blood (Rambo)? Alien/Aliens? Anyway, I could keep on listing what I think are good movies, but are they really good movies? Does it really matter? I'm the one that is experiencing it, so why should I ever care what other people think of it.
There is no absolute truth.

Despite its good preview, I'm still only giving it a rent but I am very enclined to buy it just because of this preview. Damn you PGC and your amateur (because you don't get paid) writers.

Because there will be one and only one person to have 2 dogs in a bun.

Edit > Actually it's 3 dogs in a bun. 10-3=7 dogs / 8-1=7 buns, 7 for 7. Which is why there are alarming levels of obesity in North-America.

5039
I usually don't read previews, except from PGC, and even those I still take them with a grain of salt.
Previews do not give an overall view of the whole game, and neither do reviews.
If you are worried about how some games will truly perform under your hands, just give it a rent.

5040
I read your posts before I saw the pics and I actually thought they would have hand gloves lol...so it's basically a controller skin, cool, if they had them selling individually I would get 2 black controller gloves, now if only they had Wii skins.

But the Wii will have violent games, we all know she doesn't support violence, so I think this idea will not go through, albeit books can also be considered to have violence.

"Also, it's worth noting that while it may not be quite as shiny as the Xbox 360 or PS3 builds, the game doesn't look nearly as bad as some of the screenshots make it appear."

Even if it doesn't look as bad as we've been thinking, it still does not feature any kind of multiplayer which is something alot of people are expecting from this title. I will still give it a rent, just to see how it plays.

Death Note F-T-W-!

I never watched Elfen Lied, I checked its wikipedia, and I read "Nana's everyday life".
I still don't see how you could compare it to something so gruesome as goatse.
To compare it to some other cheap manga/anime/movie/tv-show would be logical, but to goatse?! That's just twisted.

Could you please index your podcasts?
If you don't get what I'm asking, here is an example:

0:00 Intro
2:24 madden curse
...
and so on.

Oh and please do not drag too much some of you conversations.
Reviews of games would be cool.
I don't know what to suggest for when your podcasts have more than 2 people talking, it does get confusing though because we can't see any faces lol, uhhh...I don't know how to explain this, for those that don't use iTunes it would be good to have a video file available for download, and in that video file whoever is speaking his "avatar"/picture would appear and so there would be no confusion for us.

I couldn't listen to this podcast in its entirety because my attention span is too sensitive, however from the prior comments I will also comment on unfinished games.

For the GC I've got 29 games, 7 unfinished and I have yet to get Baten Kaitos Origins, I finished the 1st Baten yesterday and I could have beaten it a long time ago but I was stuck on the last boss Malpercio.
6 DS unfinished games, and 5 GBA (only RPGs) unfinished games.

I'm confident I will finish them all one day, it's just a matter of time.

I agree that once you reach adulthood you have less time to play videogames, however I think that most games can be seen as finished when the main objective of the game is complete.

When we are younger we have more time to be perfect completists, when older we (I at least) are just satisfied with just finishing it, unless of course you really enjoyed the game and want to have a perfect completion of the game.

It's all about what you think is a finished game or not, for example I finished Pikmin 2 but I have yet to get all the treasures because i don't want to, I think the story mode by itself was enough of a completion.

You only know about what's in the bundle if you go to Zellers and ask them, oh and I think you have to pay every single cent on the spot as you preorder it, and apparently they have a very small limit (5) on preorders.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: cant get widescreen to run on gamecube
« on: October 04, 2006, 02:35:52 PM »
If the game supports progessive scan it does not mean that it has a 16:9 mode. All it means is that you will have a clear and crisp image compared to an interlaced signal.

Here is a list of GC games that support 480i, 480p, 480p with 16:9, or just 16:9 > http://www.hdtvarcade.com/hdtvforum/index.php?autocom=custom&page=gamecubeac .
